so in order to get the most out of my series x i should play games from my internal hard drive and not a external hard drive??

You’ll get the fast load times from there. And Series X enhanced games have to be there for the most part.

But older Xbox One games will run better even from the external hard drive. Only thing you’d miss is the faster loading.

Is anyone else using their Series X upside down? Right side up in my setup doesn't really give a lot of air flow but upside down gives it plenty. I will just have to get used to putting in game discs upside down haha.

I’ve put some Xbox games that aren’t enhanced on the internal drive just to speed up the load times(LEGO DC Villains). I’ve noticed how games get a bump in detail and resolution even from an external HDD.

Has anyone tried the dev mode thing to run emulators? I watched one of the big videos talking about the Series S running RetroArch and how they may be able to get PS2 emulation running at some point. That's hilarious that Xboxes could run PS1 and PS2 games better than PS5. I'm also curious if anyone has done it with X1X. For $20 to have a near perfect emu machine in the living room would be nice.

I'm using the retail version so I don't have to reboot just to pop into a game. This generation is all about convenience anyway. Plus the app will auto update as needed. Been playing Twilight Princess, X-Men Legends 2, and PS1 Spiderman. You need to request to be whitelisted to download the retail version from MS store, but it works. There's a discord that explains the process, but I don't know how to share a discord link.

Wow, WW 1984 was bad! Watched it with the family and nobody liked it

I'm only about 2/3 of the way in so I can't render final judgement, but I agree it's not up to the quality of the first film.

Don’t have a 4 series but it should have HDR. Definitely won’t have 120hz. There are actually very few TVs that have 120hz.

Anyone have anything to say in favor of or against the Control DLC? I haven't finished the main game but have enjoyed it for what it is. I'm just trying to decide whether to grab the Ultimate Edition since it'll be getting an upgrade.

The 2020 4 Series should have HDR according to Rtings.com.

That being said, I personally wouldn't get a TV for the Series X without HDR. Also depending on what you play, I'd be a little cautious about the 4 Series input lag on anything outside of 4K game mode.

I'm waiting to gather enough M$ bing points so I can redeem $500 worth and use that to pay for the series X.Currently at 370k bing points.

That was my plan too but I had $650 worth of gift cards through my job so bought my Series X + Geek Squad warranty from Best Buy with that.

I have 255K Rewards points so I can get a free expansion card or something but I'll probably save them for later.

I have a 5 series roku TCL that's a few years old at this point. Think the only thing it doesn't support is 120hz. It looks great but I have an issue where the screen will go black randomly. It's mostly on the home screen and I haven't seen anyone here say it's happening to them still (I think some have said they've been able to fix it). Online I've found people with the same problem and a link to a microsoft support page saying they are away of the problem and working with TCL for a solution. My roommate just got a 4 series android TCL for the living room that I have one of my X1Xs hooked up to, haven't tried my series x out there yet but should because it doesn't seem like the blinking issue is on every TCL.

It does have HDR. My roommate just bought a 4 series android TCL from best buy that has HDR. I'm assuming it's either a 2019 or 2020 model.

I'm happy with my One X still.  I got a PS5 since my original PS4 is showing its age.  The PS5 needs a redesign more than the Series X and I will almost certainly be trading it in when a redesign becomes available.

I've had the black screen issue a few times on my 2017 P607. I think the auto HDR has something to do with it. It rarely happens but when it does it happens quite often. A hard reset resolves the issue for a week or so. It seems like switching between true HDR games, auto HDR games, and the home screen creates the issue.

Strange. I have a P607 and haven’t had this happen to me at all.

I have the same TV and when it happens it seems to be related to turning on HDR and automatically switching on Game Mode. It never happens when I’m actually in a game, so I’ve let it go.

Nope, you're not alone. My thoughts as well. Hopefully will work out like PS3 Slim and X1S/X did for me. Time will tell.

I was gifted Xbox credit for Christmas but still can’t bite on AC Valhalla or Zelda: Zeus Ubisoft Edition, (I really can’t remember the name) since they are both Ubisoft games I know they will be so cheap so soon.

Edit: Immortals: Fenyx Rising, I had to search it to find out.

worry about a TV not having 120hz or HDR

I have a older TCL TV with weak HDR and never turn it on. Games still look great at 4k on the series X. I only have room for a 43 inch TV and don't believe even the newer cheap TVs have good HDR for sub $400. If they do someone needs to let me know.

^^ I'd grab Assassins Creed Zelda unless you skipped Origins and Odyssey. Its more of the same with the only big benefit being 60fps which is mostly a first in the series.

Edit: as soon as I said this i went back to some old games with auto hdr on and off... looks a little bit better! So now I have hdr on. The calibration tool with the series X makes it much more simple to configure as well.

I have the 6 series but had the same problem. Was able to fix it by going to options (press *) and setting the Picture size to Direct instead of Auto. Haven’t had the problem since.

I'm not sure if this is true, but I've also heard that for Series S/X enhanced games, the system must copy the game on the external to the internal before it will play.

Many Series X games don't even natively reach 4k, just part of the way and upscale the rest.

They're both pretty hideous, but yeah the PS5 has that extra bit of "what the Fuck is that??" with the size and the two tone color scheme only highlights the ugliness. Series S is only one among the consoles that is acceptable in just how subtle it looks and doesn't demand extra space attention compared to everything else.
