The Director update on Destiny makes it sound like they're in a weird place. The content is planned out too far ahead so we have another 6 months of the terribly balance Battle Pass that strongly favors grinding brain-dead easy challenges over a variety of content, and it sounds like the issue of timed content disappearing forever isn't changing until after that as well. This will likely keep me from bothering with the next 2 seasons. I was never that big on Trials having played a good chunk of it in D1. The D2 Trials were trash but I'm sure they'll be fine now.
The fact that they acknowledge how ridiculously bad the new player experience is also sticks out. Basically you play through the opening mission of D1 one then have free reign to go to most planets and do a large chunk of activities with no guidance, and even start the main story progression you have to go UNPROMPTED to a seemingly random vendor (why the shipwright and not Zavala or Ikora?). That sounds like something that would be fixed with a next gen launch.
The tone of the rest of the update also makes me think we won't be seeing a Destiny 3, rather continuing D2 for the rest of the lifespan of the series as one platform.
I never played Trials but I am interested to see how a weekend event translates into a season, if that’s the seasonal activity.
Honestly it seems like perfect timing for the Division 2 expansion. Is there a CAG clan?
