I played through the single player campaign and it is about as boring a game experience as I've had. Not terrible just does nothing to stand out. I had zero interest in returning to play with other characters.

I second this … it’s a soulless big budget game with a weak core gameplay loop. You run into a room, kill everything, run down a hall, repeat. The designs feel like MCU knockoffs and the upgrades don’t do much to change your character’s look. It takes itself too seriously and focuses almost entirely on the Avengers through the eyes of Ms. Marvel.

I absolutely hated it and I bought it for $25 6 months ago. Just dreadfully boring and awful.

Tedious gameplay is one thing, it makes me more determined to get through it. Being bored to tears while playing a game is quite another. That I just can't deal with at all. The final tally is 3-1 against, I will pass on it.

I don't have the time or the drive to try and get 10,000 Gamerscore this time around. I'm too invested in Fallout 76, plus I expect the Overwatch Anniversary Event to start in the next week or two, so I just wont have the time.

Hard to know which achievement with just that info but trueachievements will be your friend here.

Here is the list for that game with guides for most of them: https://www.trueachi...ns/achievements

Also if you sign up you can sync the achievements you have unlocked and see which you still need.

Avengers is way better after the next gen upgrades. I feel like it was designed as a next gen game all along since the loading times took forever and the graphics, while good, didn’t do the game justice before. It needs more classic villains but the free story expansions really help with that aspect.

I agree, but I need to see those appear. I'm being negative but it's only because I wanted it to be good. They have a roadmap.

You can find out the name of the achievement and more details on it by pressing Y to search for help. It'll reveal the achievement name in the search.

I played through it on PS5 with the next gen upgrades and yes the game looks better but the core gameplay is still mind numbingly boring.

I always used to have a ignorant negative opinion about walking simulators and the tell tale type of stuff and avoided it

but every time I play one of those dang things during a 10k challenge I get absorbed in the story

Finishing up one of the walking dead ones, these things will grab on to you emotionally and curiosity wise for sure

they really get people to experience some cool/fun/interesting stuff during these challenges

I’ve always thought it would be cool to combine Telltale’s storytelling and choice with an actual fun gameplay loop outside of the narrative. I think the Telltale Batman games are a good example of getting closer to an impressive visual game outside of the story, but imagine if that was coupled with Rocksteady’s Arkham fight engine. Tales from the Borderlands is another game where you could take the narrative structure and weave in traditional Borderlands gameplay and you’d get a superior end product.

It’s kind of like Mass Effect, strong storytelling and choice, coupled with action and a fun gameplay loop. TellTale tells great stories, but they always feel like half a game (granted, they’ve gotten much much better since some of their early point and click-type stuff).

My personal ideal would be a Mass Effect game with TellTale story sections and modern XCOM battles. That shit would rule.

I thought the single player was fun. I did fall off of it after a few hrs, but plan to go back and finish it. Never touched the coop.

ETA Oops, this in reply to Avengers.

Closest thing would probably be PC exclusive Subverse, but I'm guess the story is not deep.

There are plenty of story heavy games with XCOM/strategy battles, but they have mostly linear stories, like Fire Emblem Three Houses or Valkyria Chronicles.

Really I think any gameplay style could mesh well with that story telling, but it seems like the developers or studios tend to stay away from it for whatever reason.

I'm considering options on a new tv and I think I'm going with an LG CX or C1. I heard a couple guys on a podcast saying they had both had problems with the screen on their CX occasionally going black for a couple seconds while playing on series x. Has anyone here had a similar problem? Any other thoughts on choosing a 4k/120hz tv?

This sentence. That's why I don't bother with achievement punch cards. I want to play what I want and not worry about earning achievements or gamerscore, for myself or others.

You get however much you earned in achievements over the duration of the punch card. You should always initialize these punch cards and simply play the games you want to play to receive points in conjunction with whatever you unlock. Doesn't really make sense to forego the rewards, since even if you only get 500 GS, you end up with 500 more points than you had before.

Just got my CX / Series X combo set up this week (damn Costco $100 off $500 coupon cost me almost $2k!).  All good after several hours of playing GOW 5 with the Series X outputting 4k/120hz, but I'll post back if I experience any blackouts that aren't alcohol-related.

Have had my CX for about a month now and love it. Haven’t had any issues with it and my Series X. Most reviews I have read/listened to have said they didn’t think the C1 was worth the extra cost. Also sounds like it may be more of a panel lottery for them right now.

To clarify, I activate the punch cards, but never aim for 10,000 gamerscore.

I've only gotten 1,000 in maybe two games ever. Had an Xbox Live account and a 360 since '06 but still have under 100,000 in TrueGamerererPoints.

And honestly, most of those were probably gained by my dad since we used to share an account and he played and still plays more than I get to.

True Achievements posted a small list, but here are the Game Pass ones they listed.

Rest of the article here, but I'm sure there's more like you can knock out 400 or so achievements in Superhot: Mind Ctrl Del in under an hour. Also Conan Exiles dropping end of this month for Game Pass and that has admin commands you can input for instant 1k https://www.trueachi...amerscore-guide

This is a great list, thanks! I didn’t know Doom 64 was so short, so that’ll be a good one, and I should probably get around to finishing the Tourist one of these days. It was fun, but didn’t totally grab me at the time. Oh well.

Also, side note: I beat Hellblade a while back, and I have all but one achievement from my first playthrough… the one for all the runes. So I need to go back through the entire game and figure out which one I missed, or get them all again…… ugh!

Just a heads up, I'm almost done with the Touryst, but there is a bullshit of bullshitty levels of platforming in it where you have to jump on multiple orbs to cross to the other side. Problem is that they give very little footing and each time you jump they rotate around and also because of the camera, it is ridiculously hard to tell the correct distance of where you need to land. So if you're going for the Touryst look forward to that. Besides that though I have nine out of ten achievements in that game.

That weird preload explained. It's only ME1 then you manually install 2 and 3 from the menu in game.

Actually that’s exactly what I had wanted. I don’t need all three games installed at once.

Just got CenturyLink a few months ago when we moved and also went from 40mbps to 940mbps and it has been life changing. Haven't seen a buffer or spinning circle while streaming and game downloads are much faster. Had some old ethernet cables that I had to upgrade to maximize the faster speeds though.

Agreed about life changing. Going from 6mb dsl to 100mb cable, now to 1gb fiber in the last five years with NO DATA CAP is exactly that. All my kids and me can get on streaming, xbox or whatever and no lag or the dreaded circle. I also was able to set up that internet radio station I dreamed of.
