Tampa Bay Area CAGs...

CAGiversary!
How about a thread for those in the Tampa Bay area. Should save looking through massive amounts of threads when you want to pick up a quick game in the Tampa Bay area.

Deals I've found

Polarium 7.48 (10 or so copies left) at the Target at Dale Mabry and 275

Meteos 7.48 (piles, more than 15 left) at the Target at Dale Mabry and Ehrlich/Bearss

I guess since there are so many Tampa CAGs, a more specific thread than the Florida one couldn't hurt. I'm all for it! I can recall at least 5 other members in the area.

Would be nice to have a local trading circle to help others out with sales in the area. I've done some trades with Roufuss and he's top notch and knows his way around the city!

Any locals who want to chat, PM me or you can find me on AIM as Gunstar419.
Yes, it seems Tampa is heavily saturated with CAGs which tends to make me more of a sad panda than a happy panda.
Unless I'm some kind of super CAG shopper, I've scored many multiples of every deal ever posted on this site... nothing really to worry about. There are probably 3 times this number in lurkers anyways.

To them I say "Hello!"

He speaks the truth. Despite how many CAGs are in Tampa, I've gotten in on almost every deal from this site, and left plenty behind for others. I've even still gotten great stuff days after a deal breaks! Only exceptions are Best Buy clearance sales which I very very rarely get in on, probably due to employees there taking dibs.

Now when I'm in Los Angeles, I almost never ever find anything anywhere, even the lukewarm deals the very day a deal breaks. Probably even more competition out there.

Be thankful you live in an area where cheap deals abound!

I've had alot of pawn shop competition as of late. Luckily I can still manage to find the occasional deal, but it's getting meaningless to go every week.
I've usually stuck to doing online sales but after EB turned to the darkside I've stopped ordering online.
Though buy 2 get 1 free at EB B&M made me happy. ( I got Tales of Legendia, Shadow of the Colossus and Shadow Hearts 3 for 77).

Target at Fletcher and Bruce B Downs didn't have anything on clearance today, just some 9.99 games. They do have a buy 2 get 1 though.

The Sam Goody in University mall had very few if any games left, some accessories left at 60% off their jacked up prices.

I'm all about a trading circle, I just don't have very many games to trade (or at all) right now.

If we could get some type of spreadsheet together that has everybodys top 5 wants and what they'll pay for it, if we keep it updated, it'd be easy to print out when we go looking.

i like the idea of a trading circle, but in my experience, people always want too much for their games. i want to be able to play something and move on to something else. i always get the attitude "my game sells for $X.XX and yours is not worth as much." i'm not trying to trade MGS2 for Elder Scrolls IV, it's a slightly older game for a slightly newer game. If we can get a circle where people trust eachother and our games can move regularly through the group, than it would be great because we'd beat a game and pass it to the next person.
I'm ranting now, but i hope that it can work.

^^^I understand how most CAG traders want too much for their stuff and not enough for yours. I get seriously lowballed all the time on here and do maybe one trade to every 20 offers.

I was thinking more of local sales where one of us gets to a deal before another and there are leftovers, so we can get it for someone else and just charge cost + tax and maybe a $1.00 or two for trouble. Since we're all local, pick-ups are easier to do. I've done two in-person trades with Roufuss.

in person trades sound good. i never have a problem with driving to meet (except Rofus and his St. Pete living *ss!!!!)
we've talked about doing it several times, but never hooked up.
everyone, keep in touch about these deals and extra stuff you pick up to give us a chance to swap.

lol... I don't just stay in Saint Petersburg forever.

In a good day, I can hit St. Pete, Clearwater, Tampa (though not often, just usually Dale Mabry), Largo, all the stores up and down US 19, as well as Port Richey.

Saint pete is good for its beaches, concert venues, and pizza (that place next to Jannus Landing is the best).

Though, i dont like Pinellas's "pawn shop" laws. Glad Hillsborough & Pasco dont have em.

Yes.

The Gamestop on Tyrone Blvd and 38th Avenue N (around there) is by far the best Gamestop in the city, and even though I am King CAG, I still throw my business in there. I urge you all to do the same, the staff is some of the best around.

The best EB is on Park Blvd on like, 71st Avenue N... its made up of all the awesome employees that used to work in the mall location.

There's the best GS / EB in the city, no, probably the district.

I'd much rather support GS/EB than say walmart, but all of the gamestops I've been to recently reak of evilness. I'm never going to the one in Carrollwood again, they put a major sales pitch of reserving a game, even with a simple 1 item purchase.

Sounds good to me.

Anyone looking for any of the games from the recent sales: Target, Circuit City, Sears, GameRush, etc? Roufuss and I have scouted most of the Tampa Bay area stores and can point you in the right direction. I have a few extras of some stuff for trade from other CAGs who wanted them and then bailed out.

I don't think a single Best Buy in a 50 mile radius had any of the good clearance games though. Rise of the Kasai and Genji are the only ones to be found.

Just stopped by the Target at Dale Mabry and Bearss/Ehrlich, they had 1 pc game on clearance, nothing else on the clearance endcap.

I agree with the pawn shop competition. I have been pawn shopping in this area for 8 years now and I have never had as much competition as I do now. The pawn shops are literally dry and rarely will you get a good deal, although I have found some cheap Final Fantasy VIIs around.

Is it just me or are Xbox 360s everywhere in the Tampa Bay Area now? I went to a couple ebs/gs today and they had both premiums and cores at each. Looks like the drought is over (at least in terms of systems).

Saint Petersburg Best Buy still has tons of Quake 4 360, Condemned, 50 Cent: Bulletproof, and 1 or 2 Call of Duty 2: Big Red One's available... all are marked at one cent, on the shelf.

Still looking for Call of Duty 2 PC and Pokemon XD.

I live in St. Pete and I'm interested in a couple of your new guides: CoD: Big Red One and Quake 4. I have a few guides to trade, but would you take a few bucks instead? I can meet you any time on Wednesday. Tried to PM you, but your box is full.

I'm actually kind of busy the next few days, and unfortunately the extra Big Red One is already taken. I'm gonna hit a few more stores this afternoon, can let you know if I find anything.

Best Buy EASILY has 10 + copies of Quake 4, all tagged as a penny, no one seems to care... I got all my guides at around 6 pm last night, people were standing right in front of the guides looking at them but not even taking them. I mean, if you don't get down to BB, yea, I can throw you one, but they are overstocked on these and it should be real easy to get one.

The Sam Goody in University Mall and the International Plaza is up to 70% off now. There weren't any games left at the university, just a few umd movies and xbox accessories.

The international plaza one had a couple copies of ?Geist?? left and a few umd movies. They also had some accessories, xbox cables, gba wireless adapter, all 70% off.

Ugh, Sam Goody's site said those stores were shut down so i avoided goin out there. Thanks for posting.

ANyone know if the Countryside Suncoast is still there?

I was at the University Sam Goody today as well. Nothing much to speak of except Anime @70 off, and Guides @ 80% off.

Cleaned out the Port Richey store on guides... got every single one from the drops, including Pokemon XD.

Also snagged Age of Empires 3 Collectors Edition for $19.99 at the Best Buy there.

Sam Goody in Port Richey is pretty much empty... just got the Baten Kaitos guide for $2.99, and Seinfeld Season 5 for $14.99.

You didn't miss much at either Sam Goody closing down. By the time the percentage off was enough to make it a deal, most of the good games, movies, & CDs were long gone. Their prices were so high they needed to reach 60% to 70% off to make it less than most major retailers.

The Countryside Suncoast is completely gone already. It's now a Frederick's of Hollywood. They were having a grand opening sale. My girlfriend was really happy about that, and considering how bad Suncoast was, so am I.

Yea, just got back from Sam Goody, not much stuff left. They did have some stuff i wanted, but even at $9 a dvd that was more than what i can get em for online. I debated getting the House of the Dead UMD for $6 but i passed as i already have it converted to mp4 format.

Stopped off at the Carrollwood Gamestop, they had people from all the other stores in there fixing up the place, it looks alot nicer. Picked up Family Guy Seasons 1 & 2 UMD for $22.49 and Beavis & Butthead: Mike Judge Collection (24 eps) for $8.99.

Suncoast is having a buy 1 get 1 50% off on all their action figures if anyone's interested.

I also picked up Seinfeld. I was kinda mad though, they had put aside 2 of the puffy shirt combos for somebody and wouldn't sell them, they were only $25. At least it was a good deal for season 5

Is there anything good left (DVD's, CD's, or games) left at that store in port Richey and when is that planning on closing?

There isn't jack shit at Port Richey, unless you want Seinfeld Season 5.

They should be closing soon, its almost empty in there.

Hit the Tyrone BB for guides. Picked up 50 Cent and a hidden Quake 4. THey have about 5 50 Cent ones left is anyone wants them. Quake 4 is now completely gone.

The St. Pete Best Buy still has a pretty good selection of $5 games (after $5 off RZ coupon). Still in store are:

Taito Legends (X)
Tecmo Classic Arcade (X)
Spy vs. Spy (X)
High Rollers Casino (X)
Army Men RTS (GC)
Killer 7 (GC)
EyeToy Operation Spy (PS2)
Genji: Dawn of the Samurai (PS2)
The Bible Game (X) & (PS2)

That store is very anal about their own coupons though. They always give me a hard time even with legitimate coupons. I've never had any problems at the Tampa Best Buy, so I think it's just the management or untrained employees at that St. Pete store that's problematic.

Thanks Roufuss, I was thinking about heading up there if there was anything but with gas prices continuing to skyrocket it helps to know that if there was anything worth making the trip to pretty much anywhere at this point.

Anyone know where I can pick up a copy of Riviera for GBA? Im in S Tpa near Gandy....avid gamer here...have xbox, PS2, DS and GBA.
