Rockstar Games, the world-renowned publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is pleased to announce a partnership with Team Bondi Pty Ltd to publish the ground-breaking next generation crime thriller L.A. Noire. Developed by Team Bondi, a new Australian based studio founded by Brendan McNamara, of The Getaway, L.A Noire is an interactive detective story set in the classic noir period of the late 1940’s. L.A. Noire blends action, detection and complex storytelling and draws players into an open-ended challenge to solve a series of gruesome murders. Set in a perfectly recreated Los Angeles before freeways, with a post-war backdrop of corruption, drugs and jazz, L.A. Noire will truly blend cinema and gaming.

Sam Houser of Rockstar Games serves as Executive Producer and Brendan McNamara as Director of Development for L.A. Noire.

“Brendan and I have known each other for a long time, and to finally have the opportunity to work together on a game is exciting,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “The longstanding mutual respect and the combined experience between the two of us make this a great partnership,” added Brendan McNamara, CEO of Team Bondi.

L.A. Noire is a next-generation title and will be published by Rockstar Games. The official trailer will be released October 5th at www.rockstargames.com/lanoire.

Sounds good, but you might want to change the topic title to "L.A" instead of "La," made me think of some dark French game when I first read it.
This should be in General Gaming & Industry news since it is a multiplatform game....
I tend to post here since it gets more action. When I post in the General Gaming, it gets lost quick.

Ooops...Fixed. Thanks.

Oh, God... I love film-noir.

This is going to be awesome.
Damn, how did you find this thread!? I knew I had created it a long ass time ago, but the search ending didn't bring anything up. :/

Anyways, the trailer looked awesome and its compiled of entirely pure in-game footage:

The thread had been open on my computer for 4 years waiting for the next trailer. Actually, I typed "L.A. Noire" in to the search bar on the top of the home page and 2 threads came up along with links to the game info pages for each system.

The mouth movements in that trailer are ridiculously good.

Holy shit, you weren't kidding. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Guess I should be using the new search bar on top as opposed to the old search link.

I also agree on the mouth movements, its like a freaking movie. Cant wait for this game, I'm going to have to pre-order and take advantage of Amazon's $10 VG GC.

Yeah, the look and feel of this game is epic. Day 1 for me.

Yeah the facial animation was pretty impressive. The first time I have ever thought that the words actually matched with the movements.

I'm glad to see that rockstar is picking up on some interesting themes for their games. Western, film noir, etc. Although now that I think back on it, they have always created a pretty unique and interesting setting, aside from perhaps GTA3 vanilla, GTA4, and Chinatown wars.

Looks very interesting. I never really liked any Rockstar games but this one might have me put my hand in the basket. I agree, the facial animations ( primarily the speech syncing ) is the best that I have seen to date. Will be keeping an ear to the ground for this one.

the lady screaming at the door was a little hicupp'e in animation but the voices and animation brings LIFE into it. the eye/head movements will probably be adjusted and improved to be on par with the mouth by release.

i hope the cases are enthralling

I can only imagine how absolutely addicting this is gonna end up being. I sank so many hours into GTAIV. I held off on RDR for a long time, knowing the same thing would happen. I just started it up recently, and damn, I was right.

Damn. Another game that sounds awesome, but is most likely going to have the most time consuming achievements in the world and possibly 200+ collectibles.

Can't wait!

Must have watched the new trailer ten times now.

Is it just me or does the one Detective (gray hat) look a little bit like Robert Duvall?

Hunh? Looks like a bunch of cutscenes to me. I'm expecting Red Dead Redemption set in the 30s. That's a good thing, I thoroughly enjoyed Red Dead, even if it had a certain plot discontinuity to all the random side quests. I'd like to see actual gameplay, like a mission, start to finish. Preorder at Amazon very tempting.

Keep in mind, the "cutscenes" are all rendered in-game.

I think Rockstar has managed to create, after all of these years, the kind of game I always wondered "I wonder what folks will be playing in the future". GTA games have grown larger, more detailed, and more story oriented as they have evolved. RDR, total time suck, lots of great story lines, or just screw around, but from the moment I load it up til I shut it down, I am drawn in to the game, very immersive.

I expect nothing less will happen with L.A. Noire. Very very excited to get this one on day one too.

Not sure how I feel about this knowing that R* is just the Publisher and not the Developer, but I'll still play it.
Not into westerns so I skipped RDR but I love detective ish so consider me optimistically enthused by this one.
That's a shame, you are really missing out on a great gaming experience by skipping RDR. I'm not much of a western genre guy myself, but even I thoroughly enjoyed RDR -- enough for it to be only the second Rockstar game that I've played from start to finish and continue to play off and on to this day.
