3/14: Upcoming DLC Will be free
Fantastic news for Burnout Paradise fans who were looking forward to the upcoming "Islands" downloadable content. We just learned that the content is going to be offered for free! Criterion's own Alex Ward jumped onto their official forums to confirm that the upcoming Island DLC will be a free download and will add new locations as well as new vehicles to the mix. But don't get used to receiving free Burnout Paradise DLC, as Ward make it clear that other DLC releases in the future will be paid content. No worries now though, because we have free DLC headed our way, new vehicles to crash and new bridges to burn.

Its not much but it looks damn good. Site doesn't state what version the pics are from but I'm sure they will look pretty identical on both consoles.

I love Burnout Revenge for the 360 (probably my favorite racing game ever) but I'll probably wait for a price drop on Burnout 5 only because I still have to finish a few things in Revenge.

 you honestly think EA would put out a game that looks that much different on both consoles? They will look identical.

Don't be so sure. The devs have already said they're designing it for the PS3 first and foremost.

Ah Burnout , the racing game for people that don't like racing games .

I don't know if I'll be buying this based on my lack of time with the 360 Revenge .
We'll see how the demo is .

**I hate being the last post on a page**

I've only started playing revenge again recently......I hated it after loving Takedown. The feel of the game felt all wrong, cars felt too light, too much emphasis on smashing everything that moves in REVENGE.

But lately I've come around...and I enjoy revenge, but I still remember enjoying Takedown much more. The cars felt heavier in that game, a single side-check could wreck a car..in this game you're lucky if you can slam someone into a wall after a half-dozen slams just to get a takedown.

Branching tracks are cool however...takedown needed much more of that...

I'm a fan of racing games and Burnout is still a favorite of mine. Honestly I don't know how you can NOT like Burnout. Fast. Cars. Explosions.

Actually, to me Burnout isn't a racing game. There is no feel at all for the cars, its more like a crazy 3rd person action game.......I'd say its totally unique. People who don't like driving games can love burnout.

I didn't say I don't like it , it's just always the nonracing game fans are always in love with Burnout .

I guess maybe it's a gateway(drug) to real racing games , so maybe that's a good thing .

Not saying I don't believe you, but any link to this?

Note how he explicitly mentions the PS3. Unfortunately, he says that they have and always will be Playstation developers first, and other consoles come second.
“At heart, my guys, the Burnout guys, we’re kind of specialists on the Sony system. Because it was always that way on Burnout.
“There’s a lot of negativity everywhere now on PlayStation. And it’s just ’cause people haven’t got it, haven’t seen it. People forget the astonishing stuff Sony have done, not just in the business, but the great software they’ve brought to us, the great hardware they’ve brought to us.”
I guess maybe it's a gateway(drug) to real racing games , so maybe that's a good thing .
I dunno, I've played tons of Burnout and I've never felt the urge to touch another racer. Unless old-school OutRun with the motorized shaking steering wheel counts... man that thing tripped me out as a kid.
I wouldn't be surprised if those screens were from the PS3. Looks damn good either way.
Was the fact that they were from OFFICIAL PLAYSTATION MAGAZINE (OPM) your first clue?

The Burnout series ruined any enjoyment I could ever get out of the Gran Turismo series. I remember playing GT4 and thinking how outrageously slow and boring it was--all because I had just finished Burnout 3: Takedown.
Was the fact that they were from OFFICIAL PLAYSTATION MAGAZINE (OPM) your first clue?
Was the fact that I read about it a week ago at TXB your first?
Oh shit! If they add train collisions thats going to be fucking awesome! I can already think of the possibilities in crash mode, but hope that they are added to races as well.
Nice, I'm really looking forward to this one--I skipped Revenge for 360 because I already own it on PS2, and I'll be getting 5 eventually.
Has anybody seen or heard of a release date for BO 5 ?
Just that it should be out "the first half of 2007"
I like these games but they drop in price so fast there is no point and buying them when they come out.
Agreed.
I'm waiting till July to buy Lost Planet.

So a game with motor powered objects, an objective to get to the finishline first, at a high rate of speed isn't a racing game? If that doesn't make it a racer, nothing is. Just because it isn't like "real life"(I seriously hate calling them that since the cars never feel real to me) racing sims, doesn't make it not a racing game. I bet you didn't know oral sex was adultory before the Clinton trials, huh? ;)

As long as they make the load times better this time around, i'll pick it up. I have the 360 version but rarely play it because of the long load times for each friggin race.

Thanks for the link Linkin, and sorry for doubting you Cochese, I just wanted to be sure.

I never knew the burnout guys were huge Playstation fans though.

Burnout is one of the rare titles Ill buy full price blindly and enjoy. Ill pay full price and I wont regret it one bit!

The november issue of GI had three screenshots as well, one the same as one from the OP. They are stated as being concept art.

Completely played through Revenge on Xbox and bought it and played it again on 360. Great game. Can't wait for the next one. Hopefully, there are tons more crash junctions.

Got a link? There are over 5 million 360s and only 400,000 PS3s. It would be suicide to release a better PS3 version unless Sony is paying them a fat bonus.

Dude...check the previous page.
Dude...check the previous page.
I just read the article on Game Pro and it says they are writing it specifically for the 360 and PS3. Which is what I would expect people focused on making the graphics top notch on both systems.
http://www.news4gamers.com/xbox360/News-17760.aspx

It's pretty obvious which system they are going to be focusing on.
That article makes me laugh. Burnout on Xbox was better than PS2. Based on that article you would assume the opposite. Plus I thought the 360 was easier to program compared to the PS3. I guess we will see which system has the best graphics in the next year.

Burnout is the only racing game I'll buy at release... well that was till they released the 360 version of Revenge, because I burned my cash on the XBox version. I heard it has improvements but I couldn't get myself to beat the entire game a second time.

I'm looking forward to this game.
I love Burnout Revenge for the 360 (probably my favorite racing game ever) but I'll probably wait for a price drop on Burnout 5 only because I still have to finish a few things in Revenge.
Ditto, hell I've yet to finish BO:R yet.

The best demo I've played IS from burnout revenge. I hated the first burnout, and haven't played one since Revenge and its waaaay better now. I'll def. be buying this.

ILooks GOod.

Played the shit out of Burnout 3: Takedown.

But for some reason, never could get into REVENGE and actually have never even progressed past the middle ranks....just got bored with the game over and over and never went back.......its like Takedown gave me enough Burnout to last a lifetime, and Revenge seemed like a cheap 1 year followup to that game.

This is sort of on topic, sort of not, but... what the hell is "Burnout Dominator"? A Best Buy ad on release week was the first time I had ever heard of it. Unless I'm missing something, it seems intentionally designed as a "filler" game between legit sequels?
