I always wanted to get the first DJ Max

how is the difficulty compared to EBA

Looking at the gameplay vids it looks harder

Sinistar>> no demo anywhere, but if u want to kno how the game is like u can watch this vid:

DJPUN>> is EBA elite beat agents???

I never played that game, but I played osu ouendan tatake,

and I thought the game was incredibly easy.

in DJ Max, there are still MANY songs I cannot beat.

not to mention the game has like, 5x the amount of songs in EBA/OOT

Any chance there will be some Mario Bolden songs?! Crosses fingers.

I really would like "We Luv Music", "Exist" and "Southwest Cadillac".

Can't wait for this game! I just wish I was better at the 1st one. Memoirs and Syriana sound like they'd be a lot of fun.

International Version just came out for psp for 1st one on play-asia,
Gonna get it since it's in full English

Pretty sure the sequel will and have an English version too, can't wait

The audio is off in that video. In the actual game the button presses actually match the music. :D

Pump it Up for PSP did (which was a TERRIBLE game btw...)

also DJ Max international added on additional song,

but it took out (I think) two of them,

in addition to censoring out some parts of songs or videos

(like the green ranger's butt in NB Ranger)

one of the videos taken off the international version was this magnificent work of art:

edit: btw this video ^^ is HIGHLY offensive and somewhat NSFW.

view at your own risk...

i played dj max a while back and its the only game that i've stuck with the longest. its extremely fun once you get into it and i guess gives a good thumb workout? lol

that dude playing oblivion on hard looks like its so easy, once i get halfway on the song my thumbs start to become tired and hard to move to keep up with the song

i used to see a lot of copies of djmax up on ebay but now i don't really see any. the average price for it was usually around the same price from play asia.

*edit* fixed and sorry :wall:

If you guys want to know what DJMax is like, then you could just play the original on PC.

By the way, ahou, piracy talk is not allowed.
If you guys want to know what DJMax is like, then you could just play the original on PC.
can u please enlighten us on how we can do that??

there was a website called djmax:us that had instructions on how to make an account,

but I heard the webmaster got fed up about something and took down the site.

It made me sad coz I really wanted to play.

I believe the first step would be to go to this website, correct?
http://game.netmarble.jp/cpsite/djmax/
(you can only access it in IE, no firefox!)
http://www.brianpowellmusic.com/bms.html

There are all kinds of Beatmania clones around.
DJMax is different, in that it has a major online component. Not to mention a thouroughly professional presentation.

Yeah, the webmaster of DJMaxUS, Arimasen, got all emo on people and shut it down.

Anyways, to sign up, first, go to that site you linked. And for the rest of it, here's a signup guide I got somewhere. Just follow it step by step:
signupguiderf9.jpg

To sign in and play the game, click the DJMax shortcut in your Start menu or desktop, and it will open the website. Type in your username and password in the box on the left, and click "Login." Then, click on the "Game Start" button to the right of the blond girl. That should do it!

When you start the game, you'll see a configuration screen. Here's a translation:

Edit: There's a new forum for English-speaking DJMax players, so you'll definitely want to check it out, if you want to get more into the game:

dude u even got the pics and shit!!!!!

u r the freakin man!!

thanks so much, I'ma hopefully hook it up this week!!

I think I should buy a new keyboard too...

Hmm. I may pick this up and before winter is over. I like beatmania but the button placement and practically useless turntable were always turn offs to me. This makes more sense to me since my thumbs are used to smashing the buttons and I don't need to look down to see what to hit.

So for fans of this series and Beatmania, which feels more natural?

You guys sold me on the original DJ Max Portable (or rather, the International edition) so here's to hoping you guys were right... guess I'll find out on Thursday when my copy of the game finally arrives.

really?!?!?!?!?!

awwww... :(

they got new cover art in tho!

pa.85894.1.jpg

she looks real sad, probably coz the release date got pushed back,

or becoz she's listening to linkin park in those headphones

Or maybe it's a serious look cause she knows how bad ass destructive this game will be?

Anyway. Could someone PLEASE answer my question:

Compared to Beatmania, is DJ Max easier to get into and is it more fun overall?

I would say it is. I bought beatmania and played it probably 5 times, where DJMAX 1 never leaves my PSP case.
New question!

Since DJ Max 2 is right around the corner. Is it worth it to buy the International Ver. now?
Well I just got International and it's fucking awesome... and unless I'm mistaken the sequel has all different songs.

I feel kinda sad since I missed out on the Prestige Box set for the first one, so I'mma be all over the DJ Max 2 Orpheus Package.

Only 500 pcs. though, I'mma have to watch this one closely...
Or maybe it's a serious look cause she knows how bad ass destructive this game will be?
yeay, destructive as in this game's gonna destroy all other psp games!!

or it may even destroy your psp, coz the game is so hard!

anyway, first post has been updated!!

there's a limited edition version, only 500 available!!!

needless to say, play-asia's gonna be ripping foolz off on those!

also, link to the official website ( http://www.djmax.co.kr/ )

I have the prestige box set for the first one that i've been contemplating to sell...pm me if you (or anyone else) is interested...thanks!

I highly doubt play-asia will rip off people for that, I've seen what's gone on there for a while, and usually LE stuff starts at a decent price and then drops little by little as they continue to have stock leftover, keeping in mind these are japanese products, a friggin music cd could cost you $20-30.

Of course, the price drop theory won't happen with this, cuz it'll be sold out so soon.

Don't you people dare take away this LE set from me >:O

Shoot, I might consider buying both the white and black one for the heck of it. They look so cool *_*

Edit: toper I shot you a PM!

Do NOT get the International version. They censored the game and removed two songs while duping another.

The original is JUST FINE how it is. Almost completely in English.

Sigh. Since everyone likes DJ Max maybe some fellow forum members could help me by harassing Amuseworld to give us a home version of Ez2DJ which has some great music on it. Hurray for Mario Bolden!
No FC and to anyone with a Japanese 360 I suggest you preorder the Asian version of "Mass Effect" before they raise the price past $40, that's how I got the Asian version of "Blue Dragon" at $40 plus lower s&h.

Yea I heard about the international version and censoring, although since I haven't played the game, I have absolutely no clue what they censored. All play-asia lists is that they added a song; They never mentioned removing some! >:O

As for charging immediately on pre-orders, they do. I dunno why, but every single place I have pre-ordered from saying that they'll charge only after the item is shipped out, I end up getting charged right then and there and it stays. Only maybe once or twice have they actually removed the charge and follow what they advertise o_O

Edit: I'll give play-asia the benefit of the doubt and say that you will be charged immediately, just to see if you actually have the funds, then it will dissapear within a few days and the charge will show up again when your item has been shipped or maybe even not until the day you receive it.
Gotta ask... are there any benefits to the International version?
One new song "River Flow"...that's about it. Oh yea, and it's all in English, but the Korean one is already mostly english anyways. It's a music game so those are pretty self explanatory anyways.

International takes out 2 songs:

the whatever Fever GJ

and the outstanding Dreadnought (see the video link in my post on pg 1!)

it also censors out some parts on videos,

the only one I kno of is Green Ranger's butt in NB Rangers

So yeah, after 2 days, I finished all the songs in the 4 button mode... not as hard as people were claiming (two more difficulty settings = nice), but it's definitely as fun as people were claiming. It's potentially my favorite PSP game. Unfortunately, it does look like the International version of the game is inferior... but I went ahead and grabbed the original version as well... so the International version is up for grabs if anyone wants to buy it.

Ok, for the online version, I signed up and everything already. When I click Game Start. I get an app called Netmarble Starter. The only thing I can press are two buttons that can be checked or left blank.

I was wondering, for those who have DJ MAX Portable 1, does the cover art for the international version differ from the original korean version cover art? I can only find pictures of the International version (girl in yellow bikini with headphones).

soulreaver>> I don't kno, try asking on gamefaqs. I haven't even tried to play the online game yet.

Cosmic Dare>> the covers are the same I think. I really don't kno how to help u find a korean version.

dang, I'm not much help am I?

Actually, the International version has an "i" to the right of the DJ Max Portable Logo. If the "i" isn't there, then you have the regular version.

Thanks for clarifying that, my cousin is going to Asia next month and I want him to pick up the original version for me but didn't know what the difference was.
