No, no notification of its removal and the Steam page lets me buy it if I want to. It is not on my account details list either. However, I do know that I activated it, because I did some re-organizing of my steam games and distinctly remember not knowing where to put that one a couple months back.

It's really not THAT big a deal to me, I can play tons of other games, it just makes me a little wary about this happening with something I do care about.
Try going to https://store.steampowered.com/account/ and look at "Recent Steam Store Transactions. Should list every game you've activated on Steam.

I am guessing that what I "won" was an exploited key (or something) and Steam revoked it? Is it worth attempting to contact steam over it?
IE: Any chance I will get it back?
No chance. Don't bother asking them.
I kinda figured as much, but was hoping for a different answer anyway lol :)

Hey guys, I have an odd question....
Did you get a message about it being removed?

If not, it may just be a glitch. Check the store page to see if it shows you owning it. Also, check your account details to see if it actually was activated like you remember.

The same thing happened to me with the game R.U.S.E back in mid-2011. There was a glitch on the Ubistore where everything went free for a couple hours. Some of the games, like RUSE, was a Steam key. It stayed on my account for about a month then mysteriously vanished one day. There was no trace at all of it, not even under my account transaction details.

So my guess is that somehow, the key was acquired via some illicit means. Didn't a similar thing happen with Dead Island a year or so ago where a batches of keys got deactivated.

Guess I'll get TT, I want to move some Amazon credit over to Steam in case there is some deal during the sale Amazon doesn't end up running as well.

You're all so smug and self-congratulatory in your ability to only partly remember when you've been able to pick up Really Big Sky cheap...

Really Big Sky was also on Indie Game Stand.

Apparently it wasn't worth $1 to then, but now all of a sudden you want it

It's a fun and accessible shump.

Speaking of IGS... Dawnstar is $1 (Desura) for the next 8 hours... fly a spaceship, go pew-pew-pew.  I know some of you are all over that like infectious disease on dolla dolla bills.

I'll freely admit I had no interest in Really Big Sky, but hey, if it pays for itself and has a chance for a FOOOOOOOOOOOIIIILLLL then I'm all for it.  I'm now kicking myself for giving away 4 of the 5 keys (save Awesomenauts) from the HIB.  No good deed goes unpunished.

Eh, I guess Don't Starve is gone for good - it's not on my activated list... just gone like it never existed.

So all this foil & card talk & adding to my steam wallet has finally won me over... I just joined the Steamgroup.  Hopefully I'll get an invite from steam fairly soon.

My foil Triple Town didn't sell over night, priced at $29.99 with a second seller at $35. When I woke up there was a new seller, so that makes 3 total. He was selling at 19.55 so I lowered mine to 19.49. Still no price history chart for this card. Not sure if I'll be able to get much for it, doesn't seem like anybody is buying this card.

My final report on Monster Loves You:

Paid $9.99 for the game.  Sold my three cards off for $8.97.  Net cost for the game was $1.02.

I am happy with that though I did notice the cards took longest to sell and they number of cards on the market have doubled since yesterday.  It will likely be bundled eventually, but I was happy with the price.

The game itself is a fun interactive story book (played through once), but I would have preferred them have actual animations/pictures for all the scenarios.  In that sense the devs went cheap just to do text only on a lot of it.

Okay guys, should I buy Saints Row: The Third for 10$ or not? I loved the game on 360 and it runs fairly well on my PC. I just instaleld it for free weekend, and the multiplayer was kinda horrendously laggy (Free weekend load, or is it always like that?) Should I buy it or not? because I won't be home when the sale ends.

thanks.

it was in the Humble THQ bundle, so you might be able to find it cheaper in the trading thread. Can't really say if it's worth $10, as I haven't played it, but if you enjoyed it on 360 it's a solid deal. It could always be cheaper though, especially with the impending summer sale.

Yeah, SRIII has been cheaper, but that was before it was bought by Deep Silver so we will not see those prices again.  If you love the game I think it's a fair price.  Not sure about the MP though.

You could just buy a beta invite off the marketplace for pretty cheap. Cheapest is at $.10 right now.

Was playing Faerie Solitaire for the cards (Was buried in my backlog). I really enjoyed the game. The same with Really Big Sky... This "card system" is a good way to play a couple hours of those games you didn't even knew you had

So for those who have been playing FS, is it easy to learn? I've never actually played the card game solitaire.

How is that possible?  But, yes, it's easy, you just sort cards by ascending/descending order subject to a draw pile.  There are a few different twists but I doubt it would take more than five minutes to pick up.

It's super easy to learn, there is a built in tutorial and the few additonal strategy elements they've added are easy to learn.

It's really pretty enjoyable, you can play it straight, or focus on different goals, like long card runs or earning $$. The side game of hatching eggs doesn't change the game play but is another goal to shoot for.

I'm surprised how enjoyable I've found it.

Yeah, Civ 5 plays just fine on my laptop - sunk 2 hours into it early this morning ;).

My only complaint would be that the text is nearly unreadable but that seems to be a design choice and not due to any particular issue with graphics or settings.  Anyone else have that problem?

I'm playing on my desktop and the text isn't hard to read. Maybe it just has to do with the size of the screen. I just sunk 3 hours in without realizing. This game is dangerous.

I'm playing on an external HD (1080p) monitor. I'll see if I can screen cap it later. I can read it, but it is just annoyingly fuzzy.

Also, I just went ahead and bought the game (from Amazon since I had credit there) and Steam is now redownloading the whole thing. I wasn't expecting it to do that. Is it because I bought the gold version and the free trial one was the regular one? I guess I just expected it to add pieces to it, though, and not redownload everything (taking 1-2 hours). Hopefully my game save will work once all this is done.

I have Civ V but none of the DLC. If I buy Civ V gold what happens to the extra game? Seems like a waste but it's cheaper than buying all the DLC separately.

Also will Towns be cheaper during the Steam summer sale?

You can upgrade your base copy of Civ5 to the Gold version for $5.

Towns was one of the most disappointing games I've played in quite some time.  I really implore anyone seriously considering purchasing it to download the demo and ask yourself "Is this something I seriously want to pay money for?"

I actually had to buy the Civ Board Game. That's how I think of Civ. It's really dangerous.

Am I trippin' or did FS get a substantive update somewhere ~ the time today's oppressive newborns were conceived? I played it back in the future and it didn't have options like windowed mode, animations and other pro shit like that. It seems like the resolution and/or art has been enhanced also.

Lazy Americans: Google technique sucks, can't find a changelog. Was something altered?

I just sunk 3 hours in without realizing. This game is dangerous.

Civ 5 is too casual for me at this point in my sexual odyssey. It feels like an ARPstrateG and I want some stratagems and machinations and all that shit in my strategy experience.
Ever try any of the Paradox strategy games like Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, Victoria, or Hearts of Iron?

Civ 5 is definitely dangerous... I've put in 71 hours, according to Steam, and it feels like I've just scratched the surface of it. It's really, really addictive.

Eh, I guess Don't Starve is gone for good - it's not on my activated list... just gone like it never existed.
I'd go ahead and file a support ticket on this one. I've not heard anything about this particular game having known exploited keys, so you could be dealing with a glitch rather than a deliberate removal. It's worth filing a ticket to ask.

I'd submit a ticket too, Steam support might be more helpful in finding out why it disappeared than Klei's forums.

I remember reading on Klei's forums of it happening to someone else, but nobody who replied could help:

Yeah, I've been easing into Paradox recently. I started with Sengoku but it's very unpolished and so are the modders' mods but bless their little modding hearts for trying. Gonna dig into EUIII and I was planning to anyway but the hardy 5.2 patch is astounding and it has my attention fur shizzle; I don't remember another instance of a dev team patching a 4 year-old game with a long list of legit improvements.

I'll start on Vicky II when I can nab the final expansion for a reasonable price, ditto for HOI.

Civ 5: 179 hours.

SR3 is easily worth $10. Like someone said, it's possible that you may find it cheaper on the trade thread, but that bundle was quite awhile ago, so you may not have any luck there.

As for the game, it's a wild, totally unrealistic TPS that I think is really accessible. My 8-year-old cousin picked it up and was a pro within an hour (I made sure he didn't play any of the whore bits, don't judge!). Many will tell you the past titles are better (more realistic, more to do, etc), but for what it is, SR3 is a blast. Seriously addicting, and it has a lot of laugh out loud moments. It doesn't take itself seriously, at all, and that's actually the best thing about it.

As for multiplayer, don't expect much more than single player + a buddy to tag along with. There are also co-op missions that are separate from the single player story which follow some semblance of a story of their own. They're fun. Multiplayer is nothing special, but yes, it's fun. The handful of times I've played with someone, I haven't experience any bad lag. Sure it wasn't your connection?

I've never actually played the card game solitaire.

Just a heads up, it doesn't seem like you can get Dota 2 card drops by using the Steam Achievement Manager. I used it to get my drops in HL2, Portal 2 and L4D2, but I've left it on Dota 2 for over 2 hours and there hasn't been a single drop. Not sure what the deal is...

Are you getting drops with the game actually running? You had to have bought something off the marketplace for Dota 2 before the card beta to be eligible for drops, otherwise you get one card drop per $9 spent in the marketplace on that game.

Sengoku is probably the easiest of the Paradox games to learn (other than perhaps March of the Eagles), but it's very single-minded and, like you said, unpolished. If you enjoyed the basic mechanics in it, though, you'll probably like Crusader Kings 2. It almost felt like Sengoku was a beta-test for CK2, just set in a different historical time and place.

EU3 is my personal favorite; it has a little bit of everything (warfare, exploration, diplomacy, colonization), and while its engine is now 6 years old (the last expansion came out almost 3 years ago), it remains an excellent game with endless replayability. I'm still on patch 5.1 since I'm not sure I like the manpower changes introduced in 5.2, but I do agree that Paradox is awesome for patching a game that old. Vicky 2 and HoI3 are each more focused and play much differently, and they're both harder than EU3. If you love dealing with intricate detail in your strategy games, you'll enjoy them, but they take a while to learn. I still don't quite grasp everything in HoI3.

You had to have bought like $8 worth of Dota stuff to be eligible for cards from it.

the good news is that the trading card program is till relatively new and more games are being added.  Steam Summer sale should be a boost as well.

Considering that the level 10 requirement for foil drops was alleviated, I am not convinced that I need to level as opposed to just selling.

Both Mooby and Idiot are spot on about Dota 2, which also applies to any free 2 play game, including team fortress 2 (unless you bought prior i.e. orange box).

Actually, for 3-4 days after the card beta launched you could buy something from the Mann. store in TF2 and get the initial 5 drops.

Unfortunately, they fixed this...
