Pretty much every new card announced today is having its market crash.  Not surprising, eventually more and more people would figure it out.  That said, prices should rise a bit after all the panic stricken sellers offload their stuff.

Damn we've just done more group-buys than the Steam Trade thread has in two weeks. Does anyone visit that thing anymore?
I suggested creating two threads, one for actual group buys, and another thread for the overpriced sellers and lowballers to troll. Nothing came of it I guess.

Yeah, I regretted buying MLU when I saw it on sale, but now I see with the crash I will have done better than the people who bought it today. Everything is crashing, from Tower Wars to SSI.

How exactly does Rome Total War work for multi-player?  If I bought it as a gift for a friend can we just play against each other or are the online sessions open to anyone?  I have never actually participated in multi-player for any game so I wouldn't want to embarrass either of us with our obvious rookie status.

I'm glad I predicted this and held off with MLU.

I will probably also hold off with FTL purchase, because card value is too low to justify buying it only at 50% off with my backlog.

You can do like PvP thing where you set up a game and he joins. Back when I first bought it, I never got the feature to work, so you might need to use one of those programs, but it is possible.

It should be noted FTL is well worth $5.  You will get your money's worth out of it if you just give a chance and play it - you'll also frequently look at the clock and see hours vanish.

I feel bad I persuaded a buddy into getting the MLU 3-pack -- what he does is give two of us the game and we give him the cards back.  At the time it looked like he would break even but now he might take a bit of a hit.  Poor Bruticis.

I went ahead and picked up FTL from Amazon. With cards I might get the price down to around $2.50 which was my price. I know it will get bundled, go 75% off eventually, but after watching Into Darkness this weekend I was in the mood for a spaceship game and this will hold me over until ID bottoms out at $5.

It's probably worth mention that Gamefly has:

NBA 2K13 - $6

Mafia II - $6

after GFDJUN20

I'm kinda tempted by Mafia II... but I think I'll wait and see what the summer sales bring.

I will again recommend 2K13 to anyone interested. Great B-Ball game all around.

Even though FTL is listed on the Humble Store, I think it's going to take a lot of convincing or time before it'll get bundled.  The dev doesn't seem that interested in bundling at the moment, and I'm fairly certain sales have been good enough to not warrant bundling, it hasn't even hit 75% off yet.

I think it stands a decent chance in being in the next couple of numbered HIBs that will range from three to six months from now.  Of course, if it's a BTA game then $2.75 after cards is a great price.

hmm, after cards. is that gonna be the new "after bethesda discount"?

No but 'Does it come with caaaaaaaaaaaardzzz?!?!' is the new 'Does it activate on Steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeam?!?!'

The cards are very much a 'get your money while you can' proposition, especially the foils.  There's a very small number of people crazy enough to shell out $100 or more for foil sets and once they've bought theirs there won't really be a market.  At least not until the prices crash to a much lower tier where slightly less crazy people are willing to spend $50ish for a foil set, etc.

I've got a feeling a large amount of the foil sales are currently going to people not trying to get badges but hoping for increased resale value.

There's another Groupees Meridian4 BAB. http://groupees.com/meridian

Can anyone recommend Still Life 1/2 and Syberia 2?
Well, not from the perspective of someone who's played them, but all of those have pretty good reviews so if you like adventure games, they're probably worth $0.40 each if you don't have them from previous bundles.
$1 for Syberia and Syberia 2 is totally worth it. Very good adventure games, especially the first one.

I decided to pick up FTL today from the humble store (it's 50% off there as well as amazon). Put at least 2 hours into the game so far, love it. No closer to finishing the game as I've died each time, but it's so much fun. Even if I don't sell the cards for a good amount it was still definitely worth it. I'm a bad CAG today.

That is also very likely. In the end they'll probably out-think themselves and end up losing money.

You're never a bad CAG if you get a good playtime / money spent ratio. I got FTL for $5 and I've put around 18 hours into it. ~$0.28/hour of entertainment is pretty hard to beat. After I get and sell cards, it'll be even better. We often forget at CAG that it's ultimately about the payed/played ratio, rather than the initial deal. As much joking as we do about backlog, a game isn't a deal if you never play it.

True, so I hope my wife never runs into your post!

Just got an Ugly Baby foil. There's only 2 of them listed and they're both for $40. No wonder they're not selling. Doubt mine will either.

I can't keep up with this thread anymore.

So far my policy with the game cards is to just idle for the cards in games I already own, so it's even more profit! (not that I've made much... I only have $6 in my steam wallet now :p) This thing did finally get me to fire up Faerie Solitaire though, I was surprised how enjoyable it was.

I'm still debating over whether or not to sell my Borderlands 2 cards. It's just a stupid badge, but I love the game. I'm having the same dilemma over Portal 2. Although if push came to shove, I think I would go for a Portal 2 badge over a BL2 one.

Enabler!!! To be fair, I was already thinking about doing it before you even mentioned it.

I had a Mothership Foil from Really Big Sky. Sale price was around 25 dollars the first day, and when I put the card for sale it was around 15 bucks, but even then people weren't buying (and I put it on the market as the lowest price available). It took me a couple of days to sell it for 10.

I guess if you're lucky to get the first foil card of its kind out there on the market you might get a really great price for it. After a day or two it looks like most people will wait for the price to drop.

Heresy.

Yep, with foils I wouldn't worry so much about whether or not you're totally maximizing the value -- just set it at a 'reasonable' price bearing in mind whoever is buying it with crafting in mind is going to need to spend that amount times however many cards are in that set.  So while you might think you're undercutting yourself listing at $20ish you're doing the smart thing trying to grab 'da cash while you can before people second guess the fact they shouldn't spend more than like $5 on these things.

The formerly Wii U-exclusive "Director's Cut" of Deus Ex: HR is coming to PC! Hopefully it'll be a free (or at least very cheap) upgrade for people who already own the boring old version.

I just decided to lower the price so I could get a quick sell and lucky for me, my Ugly Baby foil sold for $21.10. I now have $26.19 Steam wallet from FTL, Monster Loves You, and Ugly Baby. I fucking love these trading cards.

This guy needs help. http://steamcommunity.com/id/BusenlolxD

Level 41 and he's got a 5 foil badges. Including a frickin' Cubemen 2 foil badge.
Eh, Zoey (http://steamcommunity.com/id/CrystalTheory) bought like 4 cards from me and she/he/it is at lvl 46. These were purchased as soon as the cards today went up.

Seems a bit idiotic knowing you could have probably saved hundreds by waiting just a couple weeks for the prices to drop. Zoey had the max level within hours of the trading card beta going live paying $2 or more for Tf2 cards (now they're all around .30) - I don't get it.

That's pretty ballsy to express that here. I know that you don't mean it this way but I have a pills hangover that has deprived me of sleep the last couple days and I typed all this before I understood the post. Don't click on this spoiler tag unless you like to be provoked.

This burgeoning hoarder culture (horticulture?) has, to me, been irritating over the years because I immerse myself in world news every day and I've become hypersensitive to the poor quality of life of people who were haplessly born into fucked regions. I cringe very slightly when people openly admit that they bought something that they never intend to use; meanwhile Unicef is urgently asking for donations so they can provide Syrians with stuff like water.

Note: I have hundreds of Steam games but everything that I bought and isn't bundle filler is something I plan on playing.

They're probably video bitches and that explains why they have money and way too much free time.

Just an update for those who care about the card game:

FTL - Purchased on Amazon for $5.46 (after taxes) - cost to me after cards sold - $3.25

Not as good as I hoped, but still probably the cheapest I'll be able to get it for at least a month.

Tower Wars - Purchased on Amazon for $4.79 (plus taxes) - cost to me after cards sold - $2.07

Will not this was as cheap as $1.99 at the Gala Store recently and prime bundling candidate, but for the chance at a foil and close to the same price I think it was worth the gamble.
