The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!

While this is bad for those who have yet to upgrade to PS4, that version is supposedly far better than the PS3 version by running at 60fps and having many more enemies on screen at once.

On a related note, Bandai-Namco apparently canceled Godzilla on PS3 for us, as I can't find a page for it anywhere. Only the PS4 version remains.
I'm okay with this since it being on PS4 is the only reason I didn't buy the Japanese version.

I just saw this and cheered at work.

They are used to it by now.

Now if I can get a cheap console by then.
Not going to lie, just got a little emotional reading this announcement, and I'm 36 years old!

The Dragon Quest series is in my top 5 series of all time so any time they release a new title put's me on cloud 9. :whee:

Yes I did see this chart already when posted, but my question is more on the lines of If I played up until the extra part of Rorona and came back after I finished the other 2 games, would that be dumb?
I already know I will start in chronological order, just Should I just play Rorona to the end or stop before the extra content and come back after?
When you beat 3rd year, credits are gonna roll, save clear data and whatever else it asks. Then move onto Totori. After Meruru, go back for year 4. Besides the new protags joining, post game includes a lot of little references to events in Totori/Meruru.

I'm trying to decide if I should use my Rorona plus clear data when I start it on vita. I'd be able to carry over money and equipment, but part of me wants to start fresh since I can't carry over clear data for Totori and Meruru.

Sorry, but the PS4 & Xbox1 ARE the current gen now & have been for awhile. PS3 has been out for almost 10 years, no need to cater to last gen at this point.
PS3 games have also tanked sales wise because of the PS4 in America. Only reason DQH came out for PS3 is Japan is because it will sell a crap load more on ps3 than ps4.

yeah, this will be happening moe and more on both PS3 and Xbox 360 titles..... the PS4 and One versions will get released in some regions where other regions may get PS3 and 360 versions as well, or a toally different game to fill the void.....until the 360 and PS3 are 100% phased out.

It sucks if you are not on the latest and greatest, but it happens.

Genkai Totsuki Moero is getting a Vita release with English subs for all you Vita rubbers out there.

Finally. I've been checking every week for it, cause it was announced like 6 months ago, right before I was going to import the Japanese version.

Edit: Don't remember if it was mentioned, but Play Asia also has Sword Art Online: Lost Song with English subs listed.

PS3

Vita

Sweet Dragon Quest Heroes sounds neat....I may pass as I still have a Dynasty Warrior game to go through...but good announcement. Where the heck is the announcement for Dragon Quest VII 3DS though......it would be the perfect time too as the 3DS release schedule is getting more and more sparse. I still have faint hope NOA will help localize it to get more releases out and that day I will pre-order it no questions asked.

I want the new dragon quest on ps3 digital :/ Now I have to either use limited gaming funds to buy a game for a console I don't have yet (not happening), or wait till I finish college and buy a ps4, at which point this game will likely only be available used lol

I hadn't really considered importing Estival Versus and haven't kept up with it much, but with Moero Chronicle releasing with English subs close-ish to the same time I might go ahead since I can save on shipping costs.

Any thoughts on PS4 vs PS Vita for Estival Versus?

The advantages seem to be higher fidelity on PS4 vs having a touchscreen for that one mode on Vita. Anything else?

Nothing solid has been shown showing the differences between the 2 versions, but if I'd have to guess, the amount of on-screen enemies will the the BIG difference.

Well touchscreen on the PS4 isn't exactly impossible, so I wouldn't rule it out. Also I'd imagine the frame rate & on-screen enemies will be a HUGE difference from the vita to the PS4. Either way, I'm importing the PS4 release myself. :)

Dynasty Warrior type games are always better on stronger systems....more enemies, usually better graphics, etc.....I would recommend the PS4 as well but for Estival Versus it might not be much of a difference.

Puzzle & Dragons Z / Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition - TBA

Yokai Watch - I want this so damn bad it hurts

Puzzle & Dragons Z/SMB has been confirmed for May, and Yokai Watch has been confirmed for US release, but probably not until 2016.

With regard to Dragon Quest, Square Enix recently said that the series has a "bright future" in the west. That, plus their trademarking of "Holey Heroes", which sounds like a DQ subtitle, gives me hope for DQ7 3DS.

Is there an exact date that it's coming out? All I see is march. Friend is in Hong Kong til like March 5th or something so hopefully if this is out by then I can get her to pick it up for me before coming back.
I have my doubts it'll be released that early, if it just says March it's still in placeholder phase but will likely come out that month

Ordered Drakengard 3 today from Amazon since it's just $20.99 currently. (Haven't bought a PS3 game since upgrading to a PS4 last fall.) Pretty excited to finally play this one. Any CAGs play it? (I know it was meh'd by critics.)

I thought the only physical version was the store exclusive CE? Why did I buy 2 of those?

They were the only seller for the CE. It was $80. Anybody can sell on Amazon and some are Prime approved sellers, none of which are Amazon themselves. All of which are also selling it at a 50% markup or higher from the original price. They probably bought multiple from the SE Store with the intent to re-sell.

The regular version is sold by Amazon proper: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J6DLPLK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?tag=cheapassgam08-20&ie=UTF8&psc=1

Either of you guys play it? Looking forward to hacking. And slashing.

I'm fairly certain he's talking about the Collector's Edition, not the normal edition. In any case, I was for sure.

http://www.amazon.com/Drakengard-3-Collectors-Playstation/dp/B00KGFKGF8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1424909113&sr=8-2&keywords=Drakengard+3

And no, it's sitting in my closet collecting dust.

Mine will sit sealed. I'll pick up a used copy down the road. I just got neir and the first drakenguard at garage sales last year, so I want to play through them once I get D2.

A storage auction friend of mine just sold a copy of Drakengard 2. He was trying to tell me what game he got $40 for and couldn't remember. He pulled the listing up on his phone and showed me... I told him to stop doing that and to let me know when he gets other games! (Since then I've bought a bunch of stuff from him, nothing really noteworthy but I was happy to get a copy of Saga Frontier 2).

Well that's unfortunate. I guess I'll just hope for a North American version to come out or get it later on then.

Can we get a wiki for stuff like this lol.

Helps me keep track of what I want.

Well that's unfortunate. I guess I'll just hope for a North American version to come out or get it later on then.
The prices for shippign aren't actually that bad from Play-Asia. It's like $7, I woulden't get your hopes up about an english release considering what Iffy went through for MonMon

Price isn't the issue. It's more I don't have the time to play all the crap I've been getting these past few weeks :(
