Snowglare has it right for the web, there's no archive on the Android app (that I have seen). If you want to see unread there just scroll real slow :whistle2:

I got that app when it came out a long time ago and it never worked. Can't add comics to my collection and when I use the Archie website it adds the book but the app won't download. Seems to have trouble with Samsung devices, my Galaxy S, S4 and Tab all have the same issue.

This leads to a new avenue for free comics, I usually just put up Comixology because I like having everything in one place on my phone and tablet (yet on PC I have 4 or five clients and it doesn't bother me at all...) But there's a lot of other apps for free comics. I guess we should start adding those.

I'll put up the free Comixology stuff now and then later (which as we've noticed for me may be in ten minutes or maybe three or four days :razz: ) I'll put up other apps. On to Comixology!

On to other apps. I'll start with Comicsplus from the company who made the Archie app. I know nothing of this app since you can't actually sign up for an account. Found it a few months ago, tried a few times to sign up and got an error. Just tried again same thing. Looking at the website they do have different stuff than Comixology but I'd say if you do get signed up just grab free stuff. They can't even get signup right, no way they should get money.

Next is Dark Horse. Full of Dark Horse and Dynamite comics. Dynamite is on Comixology and Dark Horse just joined up this week...BUT only graphic novels will be on Comixology. Dark Horse has a decent selection of free issues. The viewing is different than Comixology, try the free ones out to make sure you don't mind the differences.

2000AD Comics and Judge Dredd This is the British publisher. Fun fact, 2000AD was the first comics publisher to go digital. There's 4 free issues, I'm not sure if they rotate or not, so a periodic check in would be an idea. Plus you can buy Judge Dredd here, so that's a good reason to check it out. The viewing is much different than Comixology, try the free ones out to make sure you don't mind the amount of zooming required.

We could use a Wiki in this thread to put this kind of info in and maybe list the stuff that's always free and other stuff...

Yeah I love the updated app.  Ive got 1900 books in there and its hard to figure out what I have read or not.

Hello one and all CAGers (and some of you Lurks).

I meant to come in to check this on Wednesday but I just was having such a great time playing Warframe that time got away from me.

And it looks like a great race to enter has been going on. All New X-Men vol 1 is a much wanted book followed by Original Sin.

The contest will conclude on this Saturday with one person getting the book they wants code. And the other codes.....we will see. Keep enjoying the site and the funny pages....even if they are now digital moreso nowadays.

That Batman Day comic book is available at a bunch of places...all with a variant cover (of course). Click here and scroll down the page to find the cover (or two or three) that you want most... If you don't want to go to Best Buy Gamestop or Barnes & Noble you always have Spencer's or Hot Topic :D/

Don't even bother looking for the free Batman Day comic.  Spencers, Hot Topic and FYE expect you to make a purchase, even though it's supposed to be free.  Gamestop are crooked thieves that keep all bonuses for themselves and screw the public.  Best Buy has no idea what you're talking about and tell you it's an online only purchase.  The only place I scored one was Books-A-Million, and they didn't even want to give it away for free.

 
Yep, seems the "free" comic was "free with purchase" at some stores. Best Buy didn't get any in, I was buying a $5 Batman hat at FYE anyway so I got that one. Spencers said it was free with a Batman purchase or if you are wearing Batman clothes. Gamestop, Barnes & Noble and Books a Million just gave it away with no hassle. The one that annoyed me was Hot Topic. I was told a Lego Batman shirt is not a Batman item. Wait, what? Crazy.

 
Forgot all about it (shame on me) although I was at Gamestop and saw no mention of it. 

The comic book store email from back where I use to live said they would give out the free comic, but only if you asked for it.

I swear I had the same exact experience. Best Buy was just clueless. They had to ask a few people. They had no clue this was going on. They asked the manager and they said you need to buy some game or something. Then I went to the game area to see if I could just find the comic and I couldn't find it. I asked there and they told me that they were out. Supposedly some douche bag reseller came in earlier and got them all.

Gamestop was out of stock supposedly, but it just seemed fishy. I'm sure they are keeping them for themselves.

Anyway, I went to the Books A Million and they had them behind the counter. Got one, no purchase required.

The comic book store in my area also gave out one.

Didn't try Barnes and Noble, Spencers, Hot Topic. They are a little out of the way.

I picked up 5 of the variant covers.  I had to basically strong arm rob the Gamestop guy for his "last one'.  Sure it was

Books-A-Million gave me a free one, but she saw I had one in my hand from Gamestop and didn't want to give me another one.  I told her each store had a different cover, but she looked at me like I was a beggar.

I had my daughter wear her Batman t-shirt and got one from Spencer's

FYE I bought a $5 Batman watch

Hot Topic I bought a $3 Batman sticker. 

Overall, I'm pretty happy.  These are selling on Ebay for like $9 each.
