I managed to score 3 from a gamestop, after stopping by 5 local ones. I then went to TRU to pick up the rest.  I'd say people are freaking out because, other then those polybags, they're unreleased.

What's worse is opening the set only to find a few bags of noodles and an instruction book for super paper Mario for the Wii. I've also purchased a toy story train that ended up only having off brand preschool bricks (bright blocks) and glass decoration beads like the ones you find in vases...
