going to check out one in my area. I just moved out here to LA and boughts some pots and pans from Big lots. Didn't know they had games.

So I happened to be in a KB Toys Outlet at an outlet mall today and they had a bunch of PC games. In fact I'm guessing they had they got them from the same place as Big Lots as many of the titles were the same that Big Lots has, only they generally costed around $8-12 instead of $4-6.

However they did have quite a few games that I havent seen at any Big Lots yet and I picked up several. Apparently everything was 20% off too.

Heres what I got and how much they cost after the discount:

Went back recently, here's some new games I saw, I forgot the prices of some, but they are all in the $3-$6 rage like the others. These are the more relevent ones I saw, some games looked so terrible I refused to commit them to memory :p

I don't know exactly what the CastleVania and Contra pack is. It looks like ROMs of the original NES games with an emulator packed in. I don't know what else it could be. Of course I own the games and have a working NES, so this doesn't interest me for $5 or whatever it was.

Another note is that at least one of the Big Lots I have been going to carries less-lame DVD movies. For example, I picked up The Big Lebowski and A Mighty Wind (Spinal Tap 2 :p ) for $5 each. There are a lot of new arrivals of movies that are realtively recent and popular, most $5 if in a standard DVD case.

Another thing I found in the DVD section is the old Nintendo cartoons on DVD released by DiC. I got the original Zelda animated series DVD with 5 episodes on it and the original Mario Bros cartoon (from the Super Mario Brothers Super Show) with 5 episodes on DVD. Both come with a bonus episode, so I guess each comes with 6 total.

Judging by the back of the DVDs, there is another DVD of Zelda cartoons (which would probably complete the set of episodes), but this Big Lots didn't have it. There is also a Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon DVD, but Big Lots didn't have that either.

The Mario and Zelda DVDs were $3 each.
 
Thanks, Slash, for the update. I actually went to my local big lots and made a new list of games to add, too... just haven´t done it yet. In fact, I´m in Guatemala at the moment, I´ll update once I get back to USA.

Shadow Of Destiny (PS2 Port) was $5.00 exactly. I remember the Bomberman collection. It is similar to the Castlevania collection. I believe it was mostly the NES Bomberman games.
 
On a somewhat related topic, I picked up an ethernet cable at Big Lots for $3.99 today. Those things usually go for $20-$40 in most electronics store.

I made it back from Guatemala, took another peek at 2 local Big Lots, and updated the list. Thanks for all the member contributions - they're on the list, as well.

The updates are mostly uninteresting titles (like Cabbage Patch Kids), but there are indeed several gems in there, like Armed & Dangerous, Total Overdose, and MOH:pA.

I'm not completely sure, but I think if you enter the "Half Life 1 Anthology" CD-Key in Steam, you should get access to all Half-Life 1 related content (CounterStrike, Day of Defeat, Team Fortress Classic, Opposing Forces, Blue Shift, etc, etc), as well as the countless awesome 3rd party mods. If this is the case, then that is well worth it. Each one of those sells for $10 a pop via Steam.
 
Getting Metal Gear Solid 2:Substance to work on the PC is an experience akin to jabbing your eyes out with a rusty nail. If it works, you have MGS2:S. But, otherwise, when you can get the PS2 version as a matter of relative ease, I'd recommend that instead.

Then again, I recommend skipping MGS2 entirely. Preachy, post-modern fluff. Hardly any actual sneaking. The only parts worth it are the show-off cutscenes and the boss battles.

EDIT: I'm not sure how Steam works it these days, but I thought ANY HL1 game CD key got you the entire HL1 anthology.

If you don't have Steam access to all that, you need it.

That's honestly the first time I've seen someone link to the same thread in which they're already posting. :)

Mafia is a fantastic game... you can still find the JC version at places like Target and Walmart for ~$10... if the Big Lots version is boxed, definitely jump on it...

If you really want to be stingy, the jewel case version of Mafia can be had at some CompUSAs for $4.99, and down to $0.98 if it's in a store's blowout section at compusa.com.
 
i went to my local big lots and they had act of war but it was opened and the dvd has fingerprints and scratch marks.
that was pretty much it
there were some commandos and some alexander rts game and one sealed copy of maxpayne 2, but im not interested in those.

btw, omg i've never been to a big lots but damn, looked like something exploded inthere! what a messy store
 
Picked up MGS2 Substance for $5.99 last night, more for my MGS collection than anything. (Box was totallly perfect too)

Big Lots has pleasantly surprised me lately... I picked up the Zelda/Mario animated DVDs there for $3 ea last month.

Picked up one of those Zelda animated DVDs like 2 weeks ago as well. Also picked up Clifford Phonics (PC) for my wee little one for like $6 as well. Not bad a for a simple kids title.

Tagged for follow up. I've snagged a few games from BL before.

A couple that aren't on your list are.....Deus Ex GOTY $3.99, Commandos 3 $3.99, and Gunman Chronicles $5.99. I'll go by tomorrow and see if there's anything worth while.

yeah my big lots has cut down a lot too.
i was there about a month or two ago, snagged baldur's gate, commandos 3, and max payne 2. they had a few more games sitting there, too (armed and dangerous, moonbase commander, etc)
went in last week and for some reason they only had SAT study software and anti-virus crap.
