It's listed as 129 Euros, but they take the Italian tax off when shipping to the US, so it comes out to 109 Euros for the game and 10 Euros for shipping. So 117 Euros for the game shipped which is $150.xx. Only a few cents more than the US version!

Diablo 3 CE wasn't limited in the slightest. As far as anyone has heard, Frys wasn't even allotted any copies of Borderlands 2 ULC edition. They aren't really similar situations.

Did you even read my post that you quoted? There are over 200 sellers with the CE available on amazon, dumbass.

I'm talking about rarity (as in how many are available, obviously), not price....which would be easy to grasp if you were following the conversation you quoted.
 
Gearbox didn't list Wal-Mart as a seller for the special edition, the $99 one, yet they have preorders on their site. I know frys isn't anywhere near the size of Wal-Mart nationally, but it is still a possibility that they are getting a few copies of the deluxe vault edition. Also, wouldn't 2K be the ones to ask about distribution as they are publishing the game? Gearbox are just the developers.
 
The email back from Fry's is just using generic, back-ordered speak. I called to make sure they wouldn't "cancel" mine, and I got the same kind of generic replies when taking to an actual representative. I wouldn't try reading anything into the email.

Honestly, ordering with Fry's was a last ditch effort anyway. It's not like anyone cancelled other ULC orders in order to get it from Fry's. Anyone ordering from them missed the three-day window they had with everyone else. I really hope that they do fill orders (obviously), but I'm certainly not cancelling my Best Buy preorder of the basic edition.

Then please tell me, you seem to know a lot kind sir, what is the exact amount of diablo 3 CE that were produced and how many of these loot chests are being produced. While you are at it, tell me about the process of making a loot chest and all of its components and the amount of effort Take Two will have to use to produce more.

Also an increase in rarity= increase in price. Diablo 3 is worth a lot more than its MSRP

I also got that email. I confirmed over the phone how ridiculous it was that they made me call to confirm I wanted a preorder that I made more than 30 days before release. I'm fairly the sure the guy does nit know what pre order means, because he clearly got annoyed everytime he explained why they do this for backorders and I had to explain this IS NOT a backorder. Also had to talk to TWO people to confirm I wanted to keep the preorder. Moronic system.

What I said was beyond obvious and you're upset about it? The fact that there are hundreds of copies of the D3 CE on Amazon should tell you just how rare it really is. I don't know why you're so hung up on cost. It wasn't hard to get a D3 CE on launch day if you wanted it.

The ULC on the other hand was up for preorder for less than a day on Amazon, and has not been back since. A total of 3 retailers have been confirmed to be getting stock, and they are sold out. You can do the sing and dance all you want, but your "proof or it didn't happen!" approach doesn't mean shit. We both know anyone who didn't get a legit preorder in one of those 3 places shouldn't count on getting one. I have no clue why that upsets you, its common sense.

You're getting hostile for no reason. Noone is attacking you... The D3 CE was an example he was using to prove a point. Resellers will continue to exist. You can already buy a copy of ULC off ebay. Just because a game is available doesn't mean it's not rare. Also, just because a lot of them were made doesn't mean it's not limited. The D3 CE isn't on the same level of limited availability but when a retailer says they have them there's no reason to assume they're lying.
 
i know amazon.com is reliable, but how good are my odds of having one shipped from amazon.de? they seem to have several ULCE's at the moment and I want to get one, but dont wanna get my hopes up if there's not a snowballs chance in hell of it arriving
 
Super-late to the game but I just have to say that this Loot Chest Edition looks so freakin' sweet. This is a special edition done right!

I've ordered and preordered from Amazon.de before. Everything has arrived, shipping will take a week or two, but I've gotten everything from them. It's just Amazon's German site, same company different part of the world. They dont charge untik it ships and have the same return and replacement policies too.
 
took me like 20 minutes to get the order in having to translate everything before I clicked lol. Gamestop changed my pre-order last week so i lost my ULCE there and have been hunting for one ever since. Stumbled on this thread and looks like i'll be getting the chest finally

I just have an auto translator on my browser, so it makes it very easy to order, but I also know a little German so that helps. Oh and btw, they don't have an English rep for their chat, you have to email them and they have an English rep respond to those. Just incase u need to contact them about your order.

Did you preorder a PS3 version? Aren't DE orders for PAL versions?

Yeah thats why im thinking theres no point in preordering internationally. As someone pointed out only 2K is better served to answer whether Frys will carry the ULC. Its taking weeks for anybody to follow up on the Gearbox forums. Im skeptical anybody knows anything over there.

Now i'm not gonna bet my life that Frys will fulfill these but Frys doesnt offer preorders for every single game release either and they opted to sell these for awhile. So I think theres a decent shot.
 
Hope all CAGs will have their fry's preorder fulfilled. The would have a lot to answer to if they just end up canceling everything.
 
Id be really interested in knowing if you get it from Germany if you can just change the language settings. Itd be interesting for sure. I mean if the contents look all different then it may not be worth it but if its just an in game dialogue thats different heck yea id be down for one.

Most PAL games have options for 5 languages, so I think its a pretty safe bet that the German one will have english. I have a few PAL games and I think the ones I have all ask what language you want before the title screen.

Again, you are confused. Unlike discs which can be replicated in literally a few days, plastic pieces like the cheat and other components of this edition require months of lead time. Those components are already built and sitting in a warehouse waiting to be placed into cardboard retail packaging along with the discs. If Fry's doesn't have an allocation already locked in, they are probably not going to be able to get one as this set is long sold out everywhere.
 
I ordered the Crysis 2 Nano edition from a website in France a few months ago and the only thing in the whole package that wasn't in english was the instruction manual. The game asks you which language the first time you play. Hopefully the same for Borderlands.

It usually asks which language you want because the European Version is the same one they sell in the UK, Germany, France, etc with outside packaging. At least from my experience.

I see discs are going into mass production, but nothing saying about ulce (I did not read through all sources though). I am not in the distribution and logistics business, hence would love to have an insider spill some beans about issues such as: are they still contracting manufactures in China to produce the loot chest goodies, I would assume they have to contract different companies to produce different parts of the ULCE.
 
I got the amazon.de version just for the extras I can always buy the game locally I just have to hope the books and whatnot are in English if not oh well its the chest I'm after more than anything
 
Contacted Frys about my existing order & they mentioned this in reply email

"We have been updated with an estimated arrival date of 9/14/12 to our warehouse. Upon receipt from our supplier, we will ship your order on 9/17/12, the day before the manufacturer's release date of 9/18/12"
 
The funniest thing about this entire thread is if they actually do/did make more, the same people whining and complaining because they didn't get one would be the first ones mocking those who spent $150 on something that's not "worth it" on the second-hand market.

Hate to be that person, but yeah. I got burned on Diablo 3 CE cause I didn't preorder, but I knew that was my own fault, not the manufacturer or the retail people. If you knew it was coming out and wanted it, shoulda amazon'd it.

^You guys are brutal...I have 2 preorders locked down but I hope they do make more so fellow CAGs who didn't get one will be able to add the epic chest to their collection.

There are 2 reasons why I am not doing that:
1) The buy.com has a probability of being cancel, I would predict P(being cancelled | ordered from buy.com) >= 0.8
2) If I hit the remaining probability that it did not get cancelled and both came through, I would want to collect 2. Just like Diablo 3 CE, I kept one sealed on my collection shelf, and one to open up and play.
 
I agree with the "you snooze you loose" comment. It kind of defeats the purpose of calling something limited if you make a trillion of them. It also sucks for those that didn't manage to get one that wanted them but life isn't fair
 
A company can't really win unless they had some magic way to produce the exact amount that is demanded unfortunately. They either A) make too many, and people mock the company for it till they are clearance out of stock for cheap (looking at you Halo Reach), or B) they make too few and then everyone is up in arms about they didn't get one. Best position is to just go ahead and preorder it on amazon, and if you don't want it, cancel before it comes up. Its free to do that.
 
The "I hope they don't make more" comments are ridiculous. Yes, demand has exceeded supply, but they're making what -- ten thousand plus copies? This isn't an ancient artifact or one-off hand made collectible, stop fooling yourselves. Who gives a shit if they make more, what difference does it make? You can't sit behind your computer and be an elitist video game nerd that's proud he/she has one and some other anonymous person that you will never meet doesn't?

Being a jackass about having a pre-order is just as pathetic as whining and posting a sob story about how you didn't get one. :roll:
