Can't wait to see what they'll knock down to $9.99 that week, or $4.99 after coupon.

KingOfOldSchool's FAQ

1. How does this work?

Basically, you bring in a DVD to Customer Service and they will give you a $5 off Blu-Ray coupon. Pretty simple.

2. Can you use it on any Blu-Ray?

Only on Blu-Rays $9.99 and up. Previously, music Blu-Rays have been excluded, but everything else is game.

3. Is there a limit of coupons you can receive?

5 per day seems to be the limit.

4. When does the coupons expire?

Last day of the promotion (8/11).

5. Do multiple disc DVDs = multiple coupons?

No. If you trade in a TV show season boxset = 1 coupon, not 3 or 4.

6. Can I trade in ANY DVD?

Naturally, they won't accept DVD-R/RW's nor will they accept pornos. So, no trading in Wii Like 2 Part 3.

7. Can this be applied to past orders?

No. At most you can do a return/rebuy, but you would have to pay the current price so it may not be worth it.

8. Do I get the coupon back if I return the Blu-Ray I used a coupon on?

YMMV. Rule of thumb, be sure you are content with what you're getting before you use a coupon on it.

9. Do the DVDs I trade have to have the actual artwork and any inserts?

YMMV, but unless you get a real douche at CS, most won't care as long as it's in a case. (Generic DVD case will do)

10. I'm low on DVDs, any suggestions?

Dollar stores and places like Big Lots will occasionally carry $1 DVDs that you can get to trade in to Best Buy. Garage sales work as well if you can find one that is selling DVDs on the cheap.

11. Do coupons stack?

Nope. 1 coupon = 1 Blu-Ray purchase. Of course you can use multiple coupons in one transaction if you are purchasing the same amount of Blus.

There's a thrift store over by my house that has .25 day every Sunday, a new color every week. Usually, they have a few crappy DVDs left by the time .25 day hits, so I pick them up in anticipation of this deal.

Today is the first day I've done the U&S this time around, and I ended up with:

Fight Club
Aliens
Alien 3
Prometheus 3D
I Spit on Your Grave 2-pack

Heading to another BB later to try and get the first Alien movie an a few others.

Picked up a copy of Great Mouse Detective. That's it so far for me.

$0.01 and $0.25 DVDs make this so much more enjoyable. ;) Even better was trading in the "teaser" disc you received containing Game Of Thrones S1E1 after making any HBO purchase, which was a Best Buy provided disc.

Just wanted to post that I was able to use the Upgrade & Save and Mystery rewards ($5) to get Prometheus 3D for $15. So for those and haven't redeemed the Mystery rewards it expires Saturday.

I have a preview for Rome that is in my stack to trade in next. I think that was from BB too.

Ive actually been using real DVDs, not even bothering with dollar DVDs. I have so many movies I got shit to get rid of. I also made the vow not to get any Blind Buy Blus... but I just got Prometheus and The Raven blind lol
And what the hells the Mystery Rewards?
Has anyone used more than one of these ? I used the first one when it came a few weeks ago for $5 but I received another in my e-mail today. Not sure if its actually a new one or if they were sending the original one in case I didnt use it.

I don't have the original e-mail anymore that I can compare the numbers to.

Went in looking for taken & the shout! Factory halloweens instead got human centipede, dead snow, cabin in the woods.

Traded in the watchmen, 28 days later & texas chainsaw massacre 2.

Heck yes. I'm with you man. I traded in those Game of Thrones DVDs during other U&S promotions, but I bought them at BB for .01 cent. I didn't make an HBO purchase.

I didn't want to boast, but it's hard to hold it in much longer. Last week I was across town and I happened to stop by a Gamestop I've never been to for some of those .10 cent ps2 games. Next door was a dollar tree. I walked in and bought 27 of those .25 cent dvds for a total of $6.25.

At another dollar tree, I bought 5 more .25 cent DVDs and 8 of those penny Flash Gordon DVDs. I threw in a couple dollar DVDs just so my total purchase price wasn't too low. I read on the bluray.com forum about customers being denied the penny DVDs at Dollar tree.

Anyway, I hope BB continues their trend of U&S deals every three months. I have enough DVDs to last a little while.

Also, that Gamestop happened to be the only Gamestop in the district to still carry PS2 games. All of the other stores send their ps2 games to this one huge store, so I hit the motherload that day.

Back on topic though, here's my haul for Tuesday.

The Great Mouse Detective - $14.99
Cabin in the Woods - $14.99
ET book edition - $16.99 (used one of those universal 100 $3 coupons)
Prometheus 3d - $19.99
Taken - $5 (already have this from blockbuster, but bought it for the $10 ticket.

I had to drive to two stores before they would accept my $3 universal coupon. They said it was "double dipping" at the first store. I showed here a print out of one of the Best Buy forums where the BB representatives stated that it's a manufacturer's coupon that should be treated as legal tender. And it shouldn't double dip the U&S coupon. The BB employee didn't care or even look at it. I was spending $80 on new release blurays. Not cheap catalog titles like I usually do. Three dollars wouldn't even cover the tax on my purchase. Should I bother reporting this store?
I can't imagine why the hell not. Just return it without telling them you want to rebuy. Then say, "You know what, I think I do want that after all. Oh and here are my upgrade and save coupons."

M
Im tempted to do it anyways. I was told because the stuff on the site may have a diff sku than the store so if they ring them back up at the store, they may price higher than the site etc.

I would report sonic. Let it be known to the higher-ups their employees are going against their own set rules. You had the print out and was about to drop $100 on movies, you were well prepared and in the know

*EDIT* Nevermind, just saw you updated your post!
I assume you're quoting prices after an U&S coupon???
I just bought Prometheus 3D for $19.99 ($24.99 - $5 U&S coupon) last night so if it's on sale for $19.99 (before coupon) already next week I'd be pretty surprised.

My haul from last night:
-Prometheus 3D
-ET
-Apollo 18
-The Great Mouse Detective
-The Adventures of TinTin 3D

I really want to get Cabin in the Woods but every store in my area seems to be sold out. :(

Correct I was probably still updating it when you saw it :)

Pete's Dragon is tempting; probably haven't seen that movie in 25 years. :O

Wish Chernobyl Diaries would drop to a price more befitting it so I could blind buy it. Only really want it for the imagery. . .
Aw, man...I shouldn't have opened the steelbook edition I bought for $19.99 on release week--I could have returned-and-rebought it with a U&S coupon to save another $5. Can I still do that without the actual item?

@Travman93 Thanks man. Ok may use those towards Dark Shadows and Prometheus instead. Also just realize Madagascar 3 comes out on the 16th so lots of options there

Are they suppose to take back the U&S coupon after you used it? Dude gave it back to me and Im not sure if I can use it without trading in another DVD. ?

They are supposed to keep the coupons. They all have the same UPC I believe, so you can reuse it if you like.

Had a great experience today. Customer service guy knew what he was doing. I picked up Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Prometheus.

Got Drive Angry for $5 after U&S coupon (got it after phone check).
I think this is a good value since Amazon still selling it for 17.50.

Turned in a DVD, but couldn't find anything I wanted. Will check again next week and see if any newly on sale BDs catch my eye, and just grab something in any case.

Hopefully I don't have issues since they just gave me a photocopied coupon this time rather than an original, and they never give any recycling receipts at this BB any of the times I've used this program.

I picked up CM Punk's Blu Ray and Van Helsing on Wednesday. I was looking for Creepshow, but couldn't find it. I also got The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad on DVD because it looked like it was priced as $5 on the shelf, but I didn't realize it rang up as $10 until I got home. I was planning on getting it at some time so I'm not that mad, but I want to see the price tag on the shelf again.
The RED that's on sale is the movie-only version (does not come with special features).
The RED Special Edition is available from Walmart for 7.88 (in the 7.88 bin).

I'm going to try to get the BB first.. then show receipt at Walmart for PM.
Let see what happens.

Oh boy, I smell trouble...(at least for the stores in my area they would)
Don't. Save the money.
Ha, damn. I would only buy it at $5 which won't happen, so I think I'm safe. ;)

Thanks to you CAGs, I traded in four DVDs and got the following:

Immortals
Prometheus
Darkest Hour
Ghost Rider

All in 3D; not the greatest titles but hey I gotta build up my collection somehow.

I also picked up Red Riding Hood blu/DVD/dc version for $7.99. I remember someone having posted about it and it was that price in store now.

Would I be able to use my two unused coupons at a different store, or would I have to go back to the store that I got the coupons at?
Would I be able to use my two unused coupons at a different store, or would I have to go back to the store that I got the coupons at?
Yea, you can use them at any Best Buy.

i have a few coupons left over that i never used from the last time they did this deal. theyve expired...think theyll let me trade them for new ones? :)

You give your DVDs at customer service, they issue coupon(s), and the cashier scans them when you're ready to check out.
Is there a special booth for these trade ins or you have to do it at check outs
You go to Customer Service. You can do it in different ways.... I typically go pick out the movies I want to buy, then go to Customer Service... others go to Customer Service first to get their "coupons" and then go pick out their movies (some best buys require you to do it that way)

Thank you for the quick response guys. One other quick question. You can save these for another day correct? I can use it any time i wish before the expiration date?
You can save these for another day correct? I can use it any time i wish before the expiration date?
YMMV, but usually no.. they have to be used the same day.
