Can't wait to see what they'll knock down to $9.99 that week, or $4.99 after coupon.

KingOfOldSchool's FAQ

1. How does this work?

Basically, you bring in a DVD to Customer Service and they will give you a $5 off Blu-Ray coupon. Pretty simple.

2. Can you use it on any Blu-Ray?

Only on Blu-Rays $9.99 and up. Previously, music Blu-Rays have been excluded, but everything else is game.

3. Is there a limit of coupons you can receive?

5 per day seems to be the limit.

4. When does the coupons expire?

Last day of the promotion (8/11).

5. Do multiple disc DVDs = multiple coupons?

No. If you trade in a TV show season boxset = 1 coupon, not 3 or 4.

6. Can I trade in ANY DVD?

Naturally, they won't accept DVD-R/RW's nor will they accept pornos. So, no trading in Wii Like 2 Part 3.

7. Can this be applied to past orders?

No. At most you can do a return/rebuy, but you would have to pay the current price so it may not be worth it.

8. Do I get the coupon back if I return the Blu-Ray I used a coupon on?

YMMV. Rule of thumb, be sure you are content with what you're getting before you use a coupon on it.

9. Do the DVDs I trade have to have the actual artwork and any inserts?

YMMV, but unless you get a real douche at CS, most won't care as long as it's in a case. (Generic DVD case will do)

10. I'm low on DVDs, any suggestions?

Dollar stores and places like Big Lots will occasionally carry $1 DVDs that you can get to trade in to Best Buy. Garage sales work as well if you can find one that is selling DVDs on the cheap.

11. Do coupons stack?

Nope. 1 coupon = 1 Blu-Ray purchase. Of course you can use multiple coupons in one transaction if you are purchasing the same amount of Blus.
I think that's just asking to get cancelled. I did three for in-store pickup (one for each of my girls, and an extra for our collection of Disney plush). Now let's see if I get the ready for pick-up email.

UPDATE: Got the email saying it's ready for pickup. Not a bad .03 spent!
I agree. We'll see. I don't want to drive 45 miles to be turned down.

Mine is ready for pickup as well. Might scour the shelf for a couple more when I go. I didn't want to overdo my pick-up order in case they didn't have enough to cover and therefore ultimately cancel it.

I think you would have a valid argument, if it came to that. I have purchased Cars 2 steelbooks, Ace Combat Soundtracks, Game Of Thrones Preview Episode 1 and some other stuff for $.01 without any problems in the past. Besides, if you order online, it's a BBY.com order which is handled differently than an in store purchase(meaning it's a done deal) - so unless an unlikely email comes out from corporate, you should be good to go.

Used my last 2 coupons on Nightmare Before Christmas and Young Frankenstein, which was on sale for $9.99 pre-coupon.

Found more Cinderella Lucifer cats on the shelf. Picked up a couple along with another Taken and Fight Club. They rang up as $0.01, so no worries for those wondering. Total was $10.52 for the 2 blu's w/movie money and the cats.
Nice! Found a dollar tree with a crap ton of basketball diaries that rang up as a penny. I'm set for the next 4 or 5 U&S events :)
Is that the movie with Leo Dicaprio? If so, make sure to hold onto one copy because that's a pretty good movie.

I wanted Se7en, but they only had the book copy which was marked $24.99. What's the price of the standard copy anyway?

Oh crap - I meant Basketball Fix :) It's some old assed movie in black and white...

The standard is $7 at Fry's this week.
Wait are all DVDs on clearance at dollar tree or is this a YMMV situation?
That Basketball fix DVD says $1, but it had been 25 cents before when they had it. I just grabbed 10 today to do the U&S with today and realized that the ones with a sticker on back were only 1 cent. I went back and bought a whole passel of them then. Figure it'll last me through at least 3 or 4 more U&S events...
I picked up Fight Club w/ $10 Taken 2 movie cash for $4.99, and The Dictator for $4.99. I wanted Taken 1, but my BB was out.
Is Dictator worth a blind buy? Loved Borat, but with Bruno I had that "once you've seen something you can't unsee it" feeling more than once - even though I did laugh often.

The Dictator trades in at Amazon for $4.19 in like new condition, so I suppose I will pick it up and watch it this week. If it's terrible, it will be
I'll fine out tomorrow but is the dictator fuzzy beard packaging the same price?
It's the same UPC as the regular version.
I'll fine out tomorrow but is the dictator fuzzy beard packaging the same price?
If you can find it, yep
I really hated the dictator. Didn't even finish it! Anyone else feel the same?
I finished it but didn't like it. Pretty terrible movie.

Really curious as what to buy with this promo...since coupons have to be used by Saturday.

I bought Watchmen, Taken, and Fight Club last week.

I'm really only looking at $4.99 post coupon Blus. Anyone wanna help me out?

Deciding between a few, some I've seen, some I haven't:
50/50 (never seen it)
30 Days of Night
House of 1000 corpses (never seen)
Expendables

Wish Gangs of New York wasn't on sale for $6.99, otherwise I'd use the coupon on it. My store ran out of Taken Blus...hopefully they restock this week. I'd like to pick up another one

Disregard the cover tag on 50/50 that claims it's funny.. it's really not.

If you know someone that has or has had cancer, it's really tough to watch. It's a fantastic movie, though. JGL knocks it out of the park.

My totals so far are (all $4.99 after coupon, except Prometheus)

Alien
Aliens
Alien3
Madagascar
Madagascar 2
Fight Club
Taken
Little Fockers
Meet the Fockers
Predator 2
Platoon
I Spit on Your Grave 2-pack
Prometheus

I went today and picked up Madagascar 1 & 2 and Predator 2 and the guy handed me back the coupons, so I guess I get a second helping, even though it doesn't matter since I'm trading in crap I paid next to nothing for anyways....

I disliked The Dictator so much. I can understand the whole "turn your brain off and just laugh" sort of movie... But that was just atrocious.

Ditto. Was an excellent movie.

My store told me that Madagascar 1 and 2 wouldn't be released until Tuesday to coincide with the 3rd one. Although I see that Spooge picked them up. Was I straight up lied to or was the employee just uninformed?

- The employee was most likely ignorant. The print ad specifically says "AVAILABLE NOW" above Madagascar 1 and 2. You could always show it to the manager or employee.

Yeah - a BB I stopped in had both. I wish they had a digital copy or UV copy, though. I passed without one of those.

That's the thing though, I went to the area where Madagscar 1 and 2 would be and there wasn't even a space for them. Weird.

Did anyone else's BB reorganize the Blu-ray/DVD section? I absolutely hate it. They went from alphabetical order and having Blu-rays/DVDs separate to grouping Blu-ray/DVD together and categorizing them by genre.

Mine did that as well. I don't mind the BR's and DVD's being integrated but dividing them by genre was just stupid. It's easier to find a title when everything is alphabetized together instead of being left up to someone's interpretation of the genre it should go in. One step forward, two steps back.

Exactly! There were so many times where I found something in the wrong genre. The drama and action/sci-fi seemed to be the most mixed up of them all.

I think there was some truth to what he/she said. They are out now and some stores have them in stock( two near me did not) But it wouldn't surprise me of they get more in tomorrow( or already have them in the back) and put them up in a display with the 3rd one.

How much for Prometheus after coupons?

My store had both 1 & 2

Is the Xmen trilogy worth $15? Hmmm

My store has all three in combo pack form

I guarantee I'm the only one, but I loved The Dictator. It's one of the funniest comedies I've seen in years. It's better than Bruno, MUCH better than Ali G Indahouse (obviously) and at least tied with Borat. I was afraid to even spend $5 on it because of all the negative reviews. People have different tastes in humor. I'm personally tired of teen sex comedies and romantic comedies starring Vince Vaughan. The Dictator has a lot of classic slapstick humor which you don't see done much anymore, along with Cohen's well-known "Did he really just say that?" comedy. If you're easily offended by politically incorrect jokes, avoid it like the plague. If you liked Borat and Bruno, give it a chance, especially at $5.
I just didn't think it was very funny but to each his own. I think he is worn out.
That seems to be the popular opinion. I work in a used movie/game/music store, and 100% of the customers I've had talk about it said it's one of the worst movies ever. We have as many copies of this movie on the shelves as Jack & Jill. I don't see how fans of Borat can dislike it though. Just because it's a scripted comedy this time around, maybe?

I bought Dictator at 17.99 and Titanic at 22.99. I can take my receipts back in and pm the sale prices with the coupon without any issues right? It'd be nice to get 20 bucks back.

Picked up The Dictactor for $5, Attack the Block for $8 and 30 Minutes or Less for $8. Not a bad pick up for me. Three movies I wanted for a great price.

They do this to keep customers looking for something specific in the department longer hoping they will buy something else and to entice others who have something catch their eye stop into the labryinth.

Actual result is 4x the amount of time to find what you're looking for leading to anger and frustration. It doesn't work because of the way it creates a fixated tunnel vision to find exactly what you're looking for - and you absolutely will not stop until you find it, or give up on the deal and leave.

Walmart has been doing this with their electronics for years.
