Fable III Thread- Gen. Discussion & Info----- Let The Revolution Begin
I'm early in the game and was wondering what combat type do you find the strongest? In Fable 2 I loved the fast pistols and once you get the detailed aiming option, it was basically unstoppable. I also found magic in Fable2 to be "hard to use". Is Magic any better than before
Could Magic even get better? I found it to be so overpowered in the first. I went about 1/3 of the way through the game with Melee weapons and then discovered that I had to charge up my magic. Once I found that out, I maxed out my magic skills and was unstoppable. Game was way too easy after that.

I just got to the city of Aurora, I have about 7.8million gold from real estate that just keeps racking up. Anything else I should do before I keep going with the story or with that much and $$ continuing to come in should I be ok?
I own all houses and businesses, generates about 90k/5 minutes.
need some suggestions as well.. as this requires a lot of $$$ to begin with. I think im in debt with the treasury lol

Just Really Started the Game. Ehhh so far. Seems like it is paced a little bit too slow now. The main questions I have to ask are these

1. Does choosing the people over Elise have a real effect on the story?
2. Can you get multiple copies of legendary weapons to trade
3. Is the money glitch similar from Fable 2?
4.When you become King or Queen can you get multiple sets of the character specific clothes?

thanks for the help guys.

1.) Not to much, you get a quest with her later if you save her, otherwise it is some stranger you couldn't care less about.
2.) Some you can buy multiples.
3.) Not that I know of
4.) You get some King outfits.

The opposite sex monarch outfit is the only set of clothes that you can't buy or otherwise acquire in-game, you have to receive it from another player.

I was reading over the Lionhead forums last night and noticed a ton of posts about people complaining over bugs, essentially stopping their game and having to restart. Has anyone had anything like this, I know my game has frozen probably half a dozen times but nothing like that they have mentioned?

The major game-ending bug that I was aware of was in the quest "The Game," but according to another poster in this thread, the recent patch cleared that up. There are still a lot of glitches in the game though-- since the patch, my Jasper is still silent and I continue to have lots of issues with the breadcrumb trail disappearing or leading the wrong way. I feel lucky though, I haven't had a single hard crash or freeze! I've mostly only played single player though, have you played a lot of co-op? It wouldn't surprise me if that was less stable.

Really I have only played co-op probably 45 minutes or so total and it has admittedly been extremely buggy. I noticed just the other night that when I had a friend join, once he disconnected, his dog was left near one of my demon doors indefinitely, it was still there the last time I got on the game, it does nothing but sits there and pants. I do think they could have spent a little more time polishing the multi-player even though it is fun. I also don't see near as many orbs for other players or is it just me?

I think once you get your magic upgraded you can really be a considerable threat. In Fable 2 you could put your magic kills to use by allowing you to have a combination of magic spells to pick from. Magic and combat being streamlined in Fable III puts more detail into each separate spell in contrast to the 2nd game. I upgraded mostly in melee with some in ranged and more with magic (I'm a combo man). You gotta have magic to take on crowd control after all. With my brute hammer hero I have fire and vortex which will turn the odds in my favor more than once in a fight. :D

And, evidently, the opposite sex masquerade suit.

If any male players only need the queen suit and female masquerade suit to complete the Fashion Victim achievement, I'm looking to trade-and-trade-back for the male equivalents. I also have the Cook's Hat if you need that as well.

I have no problem lending you mine long enough for you to pop. I still need more to complete my collection but don't mind helping you finish yours if you see me on.

got a glitch last night that basically reset all my statistics. I still have my money and guild seals, but it does sting since I know I was only a few kills away from getting the 500 magic deaths to pop.

the one thing that I can say about the battle system in comparison to the other 2 fables, is that I feel like I can really get knocked out in this one. the first had that barrier spell, in the second it was easy to thin the herd and feel safe, now in the third you get mobbed real fast and you can't take out enemies fast enough in the early levels. With that being said I am still pissed about loosing my stats. smh

I have a question and I think I know the answer but hope there is another way. While trying to get the achievement for decorating a certain number of houses I used a few of my trophies and now I can't find them. Is there any way to get them back without having to go to every damn house I own?
Ok so I'm king and going back to Aurora for some diamond or something. About how much longer do I have to the game?
Only two or three more normal "missions," plus some more ruling decisions.

You will get a mission that asks you to go talk to a wealthy person in the Millfields. That is a good point to make sure you have done everything you want to do before the endgame sequence. Although technically you will still be able to explore after that, you won't have to worry about accidentally triggering the endgame by entering the throne room or fast-traveling to the castle.

Well I finished the game last night and was a little disappointed with the ending. Man and you'd think that doing all the good choices as a King would give you the good ending but
I had everyone die and the remaining people think I'm a hard ass?!
FU Molyneux
To get me to like Fable again I did The Game quest which I found to be hilarious and awesome.

Spoilers friend, spoilers!
perhaps you shouldn't have directly quoted him, then.
Indeed, but I doubt he will put spoilers in his post anyway so...

I tried messing around with the game some more last night (reinstating the evil temple and such) and was hit with a shit ton of glitches. I tried to marry someone and the game told me to buy a ring first, so I did... Then I proposed and the game told me I needed to buy a ring, so I did.... And the game once again told me to buy a ring! I bought like ten goddamn rings and the game wouldn't sense any of them! I did everything, reloading the game, turning my console off, everything! And none of it worked! Then, I was doing an escort mission and everytime I went to hold the person's hand they'd just stand still and not walk with me, but I was still in the hand holding animation, this happened in two different escorts. Then, to cap it all off, during the last half hour I couldn't even get the golden trail to pop up for ANY missions.

I'm done with this until they patch it.

On the subject of the ending and the king section in general...

I appreciate what they were trying to do, and it's an interesting problem, do you break promises and alienate/harm your subjects in the short term, if it serves what you believe will be the greater long term good? The problem was that it was too easy to metagame by just building up enough gold so that you could have your cake and eat it too. The decisions where you had to choose to add gold to the kingdom's treasury or your own pockets were particularly silly-- it's not like there's anything you'd need or want to buy at that stage of the game, so what good does gold serve except to try to get the good ending.

I think the game would have been more interesting if you were forced to do things that were harmful or immoral if you wanted to stave off the Crawler, rather than allowing you to buy your way out of the hard decisions if you just had enough gold.

They tried to set up Logan to be like Loghain from Dragon Age, a fundamentally good character who knew that he had to defend the kingdom from a coming threat and was prepared to do things that were ruthless and evil if he believed it would help protect against that threat. And I think it's valid for the game to ultimately say that that character was wrong, that it was possible to protect against the threat without resorting to the actions that they committed. But what is baffling to me is how spectacularly incompetent Logan must have been that whole time. Everything he did during his rule was because only he knew about the Crawler and he did whatever he thought he had to do to build up an army to defend Albion. And yet when you take over, the treasury is completely empty? What happened to all the money that Logan collected?

Bread crumbs don't show up from time to time and Jasper has stopped talking to me in the Sanctuary, but I haven't received anything gamebreaking. I feel a bit fortunate that I have been on the low end of the glitch spectrum.

I've always been a realty junkie in Fable so the money issues haven't been a problem for me. However, the income only rolling in when you're in-game can be a bit tedious at times.

Hopefully I don't have any real bad Fable 3 Glitches.
In number 2 I didn't even have the Lady Gray glitch were the door closes on you and you can't finish it because the body parts aren't in game anymore.
I never had that one. The only glitch I had was on a quest with Alex and her ex lover they were both ghosts cause I killed her and whenever I went to that quest over and over she would run away and the stupid bandits would attack her, so then she would keep running away. Those were my only problems with 2.

Hopefully 3 is a bit better because you see I don't have a Network Adapter so I can't update it, I have an Xbox 360 Arcade.

Does a Harddrive fix some problems?
Does anyone know if there is a list of the glitches online and how and why they happen?

I actually did not have enough money and the money I had I put into buying property, repairs and such. I knew I should have 6.5 million gold but I decided I wouldn't want to babysit all the properties in Albion. Screw that, so I decided to suck it up and finish the game. Still I just don't get how I get a negative view after all I did and like you said you could get a positive one even with greed.

Okay I just read the Fable 3 review on this website.
And it said he had to wait through 2 loading screens to get whatever back but how would you do that?

Like right on the spot or what?
I wonder if this ever gets to be a Platinum Hit if they would fix some of the problems.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about going into a zone, loading screen, and then turning around going back to where he came from, loading screen. The quest trail does disappear sometimes but usually I found that if you run around the world a bit it comes back (I'm talking about just 6 or 8 seconds here too).

how's that red setter dog (sp?) dlc that was released?

Also dont get all the hate for the game. Its scaled back in a few ways from Fable 2 but for the most part it feels the same.

Agreed. It was pretty easy to have "my cake and eat it too".
Wow-- anyone else tempted to buy the new Industrial Knight outfit?
Ooooooh...I do like.

All the DLC bits in the Sanctuary's shop seem to be fluff to me. I know people will buy it and that just makes me shake my head. Does the Industrial Knight outfit actually have any functional value? Micro transactions are sneaking into every genre now, not just MMOs it seems.
That. Looks. Awesome.
I bought it, thinking of dying it to look like Iron Man 2099, if possible.

If it brings you $2 worth of pleasure to look at your char wearing it, then that is the functional value. :) Ultimately no different from the "functional value" of the game itself, or any game, except in scale.

Wha? For example functional value like it giving you perks to your character like possibly increasing your damage with ranged weapons or something like that since you're an expert with working with mechanical inventions.

It doesn't have any functional value within the context of the game, except for enjoying the way it looks when you wear it. Just like Fable III doesn't have any functional value within the context of your life, except for the entertainment you get from playing it. I was responding to your implied question of why someone would spend money on something that doesn't have any functional value.

Ahh I see what you mean. I'd have to say that Fable has always had segments in the game that make me feel a different emotion and I know that's what Lionhead intended to do. Like Mass Effect 2, Fable 2 and 3 make me care for the virtual characters/world. Unlike Mass Effect 2, Fable 2 and 3's ending just don't hit the same note though.

I probably shouldn't admit this on a site called Cheap Ass Gamer, but in ME2's case the price I paid for the game and DLC doesn't seem like nearly enough compared to the enjoyment it's brought me. :whistle2:#

I tried that, it doesn't color right.

Have you guys who downloaded the armor played any co-op games since then? I've been wondering how all of these microtransaction items will work if the other player doesn't have them downloaded. I'd guess that the reason for the huge size of the Free Weapons pack is that it includes the data for a bunch of current and probably still upcoming DLCs.
Did anyone not get their Channeler Sword & Crystal Tattoo set for pre-ordering it at Best Buy?
i didn't, but i bought it at the store on release day.

I have some left over codes at work, ill pm you when I get home around 5:30pst. Sorry that you didn't get one! I figured since CAG hooks me up on a regular basis I'll return the favor.
I completed the game today, and my thoughts of the ending are "meh".
I still have yet to finish it, but that was my reaction to all the endings in Fable II.

You got it whether you pre-ordered or not. They were sitting at the register for ppl to grab as they like.
