Humble Bundle Thread

I started gaming when I was a child with the Odyssey 2, Colecovision and Atari 2600. Eventually that transitioned to the NES, TurboDuo, SNES, etc.  I didn't get a PC until I was 20 years old.  My family certainly wasn't going to pay thousands of dollars (at the time) for what was typically marketed as a word processor and something to do your finances on.  In 1996, I convinced my mom I would need one for college, and even at that time, PC games were still somewhat primitive, what with a very limited color palette, 3D graphics not quite ready for primetime, and horrible gaming controllers (if you could get the controller to work correctly at all.)

Without consoles, I wouldn't have grown up to be a gamer.  I may not have even gotten a computer when I was 20 or aspired to be a game developer.  I would have had a more normal life as a teenager, such as going outside, socializing, going on dates and...ummm...

Damn consoles.

Everyone can thank me for fakeybroin' the Regency Solitaire game in the Summer sale (try to craft the badge the uncommon background is worth a good amount).

I only really want RE0/RE HD in that capcom bundle. I may also need to super puzzle fighter, but I could go for the $1 tier....will have to think about it.....but own a lot of it already.

 
Good for the Hexcells guy. Get money. I've enjoyed all of the -cells tremendously.

But, uh, still some weak unlocks.

I take it back, Regency actually looks OK although I already have that game like 15 times, it's probably a better version than the rest. I shan't keep Mr. Darcy waiting.

No one in this thread over the last two pages has said anything against consoles other than in a roundabout way when comparing. And your own experience can be countered by those of us who had a computer in the house from a very young age. I had an Apple IIe when I was 6 years old that sat right next to my Master System and then an NES. I enjoyed my consoles and still enjoy playing friends consoles, but the PC offers me technological advantages and much more direct control over my gaming experience, and Steam is accessible from my couch as well.

The only point that "Team PC" has been trying to make is that everything that the original starter of this argument stated has been countered by the PC doing it first. Xbox Live was only revolutionary in that it was the first online hub/social network/store for a console and even that is arguable since Sega was truly the first (SegaNet/Heat.net in 96 and Dreamarena with the Dreamcast), but without the same infrastructure XBL instituted when the bandwidth boom occurred. Microsoft knew what they were doing since they basically helped pioneer the entire PC age. It was also done before even then from very primitive versions to more feature laden ones on the PC.

You guys need to shut up with your child hood experiences, because I can counter them with MY experiences; when I was a kid we fashioned toys out of tin foil and role played with that. If there were no consoles all jrpgs would be reserved for the tin foil improvisational market you dumb turds. multiplayer would be handled via the door to door meet your friends and play extranet pioneered by some kid like the medieval ages or whenever playing was invented

Really, I don't care about consoles.  Hell, I've told people here to buy a console before spending $400 for some bottom-grade Steam box.  I was just amused by the guy so defensive that he had to come up with some "You guys all owe consoles a debt of gratitude" nonsense.

In other news, I sort of want Regency Solitaire and would have liked the buck-off coupon for this month's pack with SOMA but I'm not $5.85 invested in the idea of either.  I thought about hate pennying for the coupon but decided that was a pretty hobo move and I could just afford the extra 99¢.

I made a stick out of dirt and my own spittle, but when my dad broke it it just crumbled. I cried for weeks and then made a new stick out of dirt and my warm, salty tears.

 
So Regency Solitaire isn't half bad once you ignore the boring story and setting (Although if you enjoy tales of 19th century British high society, you're in luck!). It's basically a re-skinned Faerie Solitaire, a game I ended up putting 15 hours into. Between that and the Hexcells series (which I didn't own previously and am already in love with), this turned out to be a pretty nice BTA.

I'm enjoying Regency Solitaire more than I expected to since I'm not really that into the setting. Faerie Solitaire never really grabbed me, but I put a ton of hours into Fairway Solitaire.

I like the power-ups in Regency. I've been playing on hard so far and it still hasn't really been hard. Wonder if the difficulty will ramp up much.

I already learned in the past for huge giveaways it's better to give them away by PM or quote or something than mass drop. I know last time I did about 75 or 100 or so dropped it got massive lurked and very few got games that were registered here.

That would've been the best option, but I wasn't about to go through all of that rigmarole. I considered just posting the keys without the title, but I figured that would just piss everybody off. If it's any consolation, I still have a few Origin keys for some EA games; PM me, and if I recognize you as a regular contributor, I will send you a random key.

 
Even if you want to do a mass drop, screenshots of the keys (or similar) helps prevent them from being scooped up instantly by bots or simple copy & paste by one or two lucky lurkers.

That said, thanks all the same for the thoughts behind the generous key offering regardless of who got them.

 
Thanks iamsmart for the massive key drop. I'm obviously too late to even consider trying anything (Noooo! Samorost 2 has escaped me again! Twice!). Syntax Error is correct in that a screenshot would discourage bots from taking the majority of keys. It's a little bit extra work but everyone is entitled to give keys away however they want. Regardless that's some impressive generosity.

 
I sent account queries by CD-key for each game I would have wanted. That'll teach the bots and lurkers.

But seriously, very generous of you. That's a lot of Humble Bundle history right there. Some of those keys go back 3-4 years!

I really enjoy reading these books, and will probably buy the bundle next week after I get extra money.

In other news... Regency Soiltaire is basically Faerie Solitaire with a few extra gimmicks and no stupid pets to raise.
