CAGiversary!

Since the old thread was getting too large, I made this new thread to continue.

Apple iPhone & iPod Touch games in the App store are constantly going on sale. While I originally posted games and prices in this post, it's become almost impossible to keep up with it all. Feel free to post in this topic on good deals and games you enjoy. Developers are also encouraged to join in, especially if they are running promos or sales.

If you want to check out a particular game, try the following review sites, or ask in here so fellow CAG's can assist you.

Apple iPad Information

Important Notes:

 1. Make sure to check for periodic updates either in iTunes or on your iPod\iPhone. For each release of new firmware, there's usually a bunch of games updated right afterward.
 2. Some applications also go on sale by their authors when they reach 1 million download and similar milestones.
 3. Apps often have specials the day before, during, and after holidays, regardless if said game/app is related to the holiday.
 4. Newly released apps will often have a % or dollar amount off for a limited period of time to gain a large following quicker. While browsing the app store you can go to a particular type or genre and order according to release date. This can make finding new app discounts faster.
 5. Make sure to backup your purchases in iTunes to CD/DVD for safe keeping. You can do this by clicking File-->Library-->Backup to Disc. Then choose all purchases, applications only, and full or incremental backup. How often is up to you, but I do this monthly, or more often if I buy a lot of apps.
 6. Apps can be redownloaded without incurring an extra charge if you previously purchased it. This is good if you have a crash and forget to backup your purchases. I don't know if this is a permanent feature so backing up regularly is still important.
 7. I strongly advise not to buy iTunes Gift Cards by 3rd parties unless you know they can be trusted. Retail stores, receiving cards as gifts, etc are the best ways. There are many credit card scams, stolen cards, hacked cards going around, especially on Ebay.
 8. If you are the victim of a iTunes Card scam or get your account locked due to one not all hope is lost. Apple has been fairly lenient on these issues. Call Apple directly at 1-800-MY-APPLE, or check the iTunes Store support site. Also going to your local Apple Store to discuss it can help. The account locking is an automated process and can be reversed. This can take time so be cautious if you use gift cards from 3rd party sources.
 9. If you somehow break your iPhone or iPod Touch, you have some options. If you bought the Applecare warranty it should be covered for most items. If your Applecare ran out or you don't have one, try these sites for do it yourself replacement parts & fixes.

If you want that then download BargainBin app. It pretty much is the best thing for iphone app sales and freebies. I've gotten so much good and decent stuff from it I have to highly recommend it.

Well, I don't have an iPod touch yet... So I can't use that :booty:
still waiting on Canabalt to drop in price...honestly...hurry up with it
It's worth the full price honestly, but I understand this is CAG so yeah, when it does drop, buy. it's golden.
Yes, its on rails but its got very high production value. I bought it at $2.99 and was not disappointed.
I agree, and this is the right price for it. However, replay value is low.

Great find on the Bargain Bin app! Now I can wait for Rot3k to drop.

I will NEVER understand how Canabalt is worth 99 cents, if even that much. You've seen all three obstacles the game has to offer in 30 seconds.

As repetitive as it is, the portable nature of it makes it even better than the free version since I play for a few min in between waiting. It's honestly my most played app on my itouch.

Just a heads up that "Moonz" for iPhone/iPod Touch is currently on sale for $0.99:

MoonzPromo.png

"Moonz" and "Moonz Lite" feature gorgeous 2D cartoon art suitable for the whole family, and have a variety of different gravity-based challenges for one or two players.

Since it's release, "Moonz" has received glowing reviews from the community (5 stars on iTunes, 92% on iPhoneWorld.ca, 4/5 on 148Apps.com, 4/5 on Appsmile.com etc.), so we decided to celebrate by giving people a free taste of the addictive gameplay. You can try it out for free here:

http://www.itunes.com/app/MoonzLite

And get the full version here:

http://www.itunes.com/app/Moonz

The full version has four unique locations to unlock, and a tonne of objects that are guaranteed to get laughs, including rockets, wormholes, dynamite, UFOs, London buses and more. Scores are stored online for each game mode as well as locally, and the game can be exited/resumed at any time with no loss of progress. The game can be played with the inbuilt soundtrack, or the user can listen to their own music while playing.

So a bunch of ea games just went on sale. Including auditorium, which just came out. Oppinions on command and conquer, tetris or the me game?

Auditorium looks like a complete rip off of Light Jockey with a music element added.

A lot of people are going to be happy or pissed at the number of games that just dropped. I won't list them all because I'm using my phone, but Wolfenstein RPG, The Sims 3, monopoly, yahtzee, mass effect, sim city, tiger woods, NBA live, etc etc have all dropped in price, many around 2.99-1.99. If someone at a computer can do a list, even better.

It’s possible that I may have missed a game or two.

I can recommended Surviving High School and Wolfenstein RPG.

For those that are interested in shopping programs, get Pandora Box. I used BargainBin for ages, but found it really lacking when I compared it to PB. For instance, I could never load my want list in BB and it lacked the ability to search for games by name. PB, on the other hand, is very snappy and the favorites menu works great. I've just been alerted that 2 games I've wanted have droped in price (Tiger Woods 10, Need for Speed Undercover - both $2.99).

Also, at $1.99, I highly suggest picking up Wolfenstein RPG. It is essentially a turn-based first person shooter of epic proportions. I picked it up a few weeks ago at $2.99 before a long flight across the country and was hardly able to put it down to make transfers. The game must be at least 8-10 hours long.
I'm kind of wondering if there will be sales by the other major manus like Gameloft and Chillingo.
Yes, I think it is highly likely that we will see some big sales from other developers and independent studios on their iPhone apps this week. I think a lot of consumers expect good sales, and it'll be a good way to stay competitive and in the spotlight. I think EA is just the first of many. Now... what else do I hope drops in price? COD:WAW:Zombies - I've got my eye on you!

Digital Chocolate is having a big sale. Most of their games are 99 cents right now, including:

Fantasy Warrior
Jurassic 3D Rollercoaster Rush
Haunted 3D Rollercoaster Rush
3D Brickbreaker Revolution
Nightclub Fever

Secret of Monkey Island is $3.99 right now, for those who missed the pirate day sale.

Btw major props to tenchim86 you rule for that.

Ps, BargainBin is the best dealfinder IMO. It does all the stuff iowaholder said it doesn't (maybe they updated it since he last used it?) also, it has push, so when a game you want drops to the price you want, you get a push notification. Much more intuitive interface than appsniper too.

Read some of the reviews for the app, it's a very common problem.

Whats the deal with EA pushing ads into paid games with updates? I read that all over the place on reviews for their games. Very lame

What are those games?

I haven't noticed any in the hour or so I've played NFSU. Hopefully there haven't been any ads thrown in Tiger Woods 10!

Huh? I'm just relaying what I read in the reviews. I'd like to hear from people if there are intrusive ads or not because I'm tempted to get tetris...

I bought Tetris for $2.99, played one round of 'marathon' and didn't see any ads. I think its just a 'More EA Games' thing in the menu. Nothing intrusive.

Every time you finish a game of Monopoly a thing pops up and says "do you want to see more EA games" and it is such that instead of reading it you habitually just tap the check icon to proceed past the pop up but it instead takes you to a thing showing other EA games. It is kind of annoying if you forget about it and click the check symbol
Auditorium looks like a complete rip off of Light Jockey with a music element added.
I believe Light Jockey was an homage to the flash version of Auditorium, actually.

I think the music adds a lot, and it's one of the few games I play on the iTouch with sound on.

While it hasn't shown up in the app store pricing yet, my BargainBin just dinged Galaga Remix at 99 cents, which I'm more than happy to jump on... once it finally makes itself known.

Add pacman remix, dig dug remix, and pole position remix to that list as well.

@blueocarina right after I typed that, I realized they probably had related origins involving a free flash game. That's happening a lot in the app store these days.

Wish iD would port Orcs and Elves 1 and 2 and Doom RPG to the iphone.

And AMA would port fucking Heartbreakers. I LOVED that game and I still have my Razr just for it.

I wish the neverhood games would get ported to iPhone. Also, I want a new one to be made.

Also, every old computer game I never got to play (messiah, Gabriel knight, deus ex, system shock, etc)

Jumped on Galaga Remix. Looking at PacMan and I'll pass. No nostalgia for Dig Dug or Pole Position.

Actually Auditorium was a trial + pay upgrade as a flash game, one of the reasons I never purchased it on PC because I didn't really feel like I was going to own it. I had no qualms buying it from the app store though even with splitting the game up into DLC.

Anyone else tried Soosiz (Soosiz Lite)? I played the lite version for a few minutes today and that, I imagine, will be an excellent iPhone game. Think side scrolling Mario Galaxy and you'll get a decent idea of what the game has to offer. According to the description, it has upwards of 65 levels, so that should be quite a bit of gameplay. Currently it's listed at $2.99, but I'm watching it in Pandora Box, hoping it'll drop to $0.99 this week.

Pro tip: If you're on the fence about any games right now, don't buy them until the drop in price or Monday at the earliest. I figure a whole lot of games are going to drop in price over the next five days, so if you've got a few days to wait, I suggest you do. If Monday comes and goes and the price still hasn't come down, well, it probably won't for awhile. At least that's my thought...
Can I have opinions on Mr. Driller ($1) and Hybrid: Eternal Whisper ($3)?
Despite the polished graphics, Mr. Driller sucked big time on the iphone. It has terrible control. Unless you are addicted to Mr. Driller, I can't imagine you would want this on the iphone. Stick with the console version if you are a fan.

I bought Soosiz around release and it's one of the few games that gets frequently played lately. Levels are broken up into portions befitting a pick up and play game and although I was disappointed that gravity doesn't exactly function like Mario Galaxy (no slingshotting around planets for hours on end) it's still a well thought out platformer.

As far as I can tell, the only advertising I've found in NFSU and TW10 are the following:

Both are just menu items that take you to a cover flow store to get you to purchase more EA games. Perfectly reasonable to me.

That being said, I can not say enough how impressed I am with NFSU. On my 3G touch, it loads insanely fast and runs very fluid. I haven't experienced a single frame stutter, skip or crash. It's a really good looking game - but man, the soundtrack is terrible.

I disagree. The controlls are not as tight as a console, but after a few minutes of playing, I usually forget that. For $1, worth it.

I just bought Chuck Norris: Bring the Pain without hesitation. Hopefully its half-decent. It's almost worth $1 to say to your friend, "hey, look at this Chuck Norris video game".
