Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

Our CAG Japanese Niche Games Thread also has a community on PS4, where you can interact and game with other members of the thread.

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

You didn't play Mario 64 with the d-pad. At least not on the N64. Honestly, I can only recall hearing positive things about Mario 64's control. I always found the game to have excellent control on the N64. The DS version was a bit rough though since it lacked the thumbstick.

Does anyone know of any promos or coupons going on right now at online Japanese import shops?

I'm looking to pre-order Konami's new PS4 Power Pros game and most places have it listed for about $67 + shipping.

Also which online Japanese shops do you guys trust for the fastest delivery to the USA?

Sega of America said they didn't know about Ignition until Sega of Japan announced it. When they found out, it was too late, which is a big shame

The NES controller was a pretty radical departure from the standard Joystick and button control of Atari and arcades. The shoulder buttons of the SNES were also a big change. The N64, GC, Wii and WiiU all attempted to do something a little different (though admittely the GC controller was most like its predecessors/contemporaries). We'll see if any of this comes to fruition.

I had one of those, it was awesome looking. Though I never really found it useful in game.

As cool as joysticks are, nothing really beats a good D-Pad.

Yay my wish came true! Mangagamer announced Imouto Paradise 2 at Anime Boston! My voice was heard! Not a huge fan of Nukige type games but Imouto Paradise was easily a favorite.

Ah I didn't play on easy, just normal but it was embarassly easy. I think I quit the game on the last dungeon. Just was really boring. It's too bad we never got the other game that came out around the same time, the one where you had to kiss girls to unleash their powers.

I played on Hard and it was still easy.

And I assume you mean those things that you encounter randomly that gives tons of xp.

Edit: Actually, I don't remember if there was a hard. But I typically do on dungeon crawlers. Otherwise, it's too easy.
