Been lurking forever and finally have something to contribute. For those of you that were burned by Best Buy's drop in trade-in values and have a Microcenter near you, here's a possible alternative. Microcenter has some trade in values advertised on their website and in the new sales paper. Notice the trade in value for Crysis 2. I've never personally traded there so if anyone has please post your experiences.

http://www.microcenter.com/storefronts/gaming/used.html

YMMV, as some stores do not have trade-in capabilities.
Stores without trade-ins: 'Twin Cities/St. Louis Park, MN', 'Beltway/Rockville, MD' [add more when discovered]

Current trade in values as of 11/29/11 from the CAG community (Thanks fortunado for compiling and editing list)

(11/29/11) - Added some new values today. I overheard someone say that all the games MC buys get shipped off to their buyer and then redistributed among the stores that lack certain titles. At my store they will take one copy per game, per console, per day, per person. So it may be possible to just spread trades of duplicate games out over the course of a few weeks.

(4/1/12) - RAGE Anarchy Edition not being accepted at some stores due to UPC being different from what they allow (even though it is the "better" version). YMMV on this if the employee will override.

To keep the wiki current, try to enter the date you obtained the value.

Overall good trade values, but lousy service, and crappy system !!
I found like ten or more copies of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood in Buffalo, Ny. I would make out like a bandit with those trade in values. Too bad there isn't one around here...

I traded in a bunch today as well. Decided to compile the entire thread into a post so no one misses out. I'll be making one more drop off tomorrow then, hopefully, I'm calling it quits before they do.

^ a couple of corrections

Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 is for PS3
Goldeneye 007 for Wii gets $15

oh, and Lego Pirates of the Carribean (DS) gets $12

Thanks :) ... updated. I am pretty sure I got the TiV for Smackdown vs Raw 2011 for 360 the other day when I went in but until I can confirm I'll switch it over to 360.

Got another one for ya

PS3 - Spiderman Shattered Dimensions - $10

Oh, and figured out a way to make sure which system the game is for. To the left of the game on the receipt is a number.

940908 is for Wii
940866 is for PS3
941062 is for 360

Hah funny; I just PM'd you about that. I'll be happy to help keep it updated - going to do a bit more trade-in's tomorrow or Wednesday.

Oh man, I was laughing so hard reading this thread, I had to go outside! The wolves are circling! I am seriously thinking about taking a day trip to MC; would they think it odd if I live 2 hours away, in another state?;)

My prediction: Microcenter, Inc. will not make it through the fiscal year 2012.

I know someone mentioned there is no limit to how many you trade; but can anyone give some anecdotal evidence? I don't wanna get burned with 10 copies of Ass.Creed.Bro. if I get there and they quickly put a 2x limit on me or something. But at the same time, my BBY is LOADED with these guys, and turning $60 into $200 would be suuu-weeet. ;)

I traded two of the same title/same console without a problem. Also traded 1 each of same title on PS3 and 360.

I laughed out loud at that last part...

The one BBV I went to today had at least 5 Dead Space 2s for Xbox...

An easy 32 into 125 if there isnt a cap on games (which I'm sure there is, but that blockbuster stocked a lot of titles well within that 20ish trade in range...)

Im salivating with excitement at 10 am tomorrow.... I'm becoming such a trade in whore its absurd. Perhaps even a bit dangerous...

Are you serious? There are other games on the list you can spread out to get credit. Employee said someone else did that and the manager put an end to it real quick. 2 or 3 max. Why get banned or ruin it for others who want to trade a few games.
Is there online trade in value or just need to being the game in to trade in?
My store gave me TIVs over the phone.

Lol, no way man. I'm just screwing with ya. I wouldn't take 10 copies of a single game anywhere ;)

Anybody do any trades today and can confirm values held? Specifically at the Overland Park, KS store? I tried calling twice, and both times was put on hold for 5+ min before I said screw it.

It's a good 40 min drive there, and 40 min back. I don't feel like doing it unless it's worthwhile. Especially in rainy weather. I think if I don't hear anything here soon, I'm gonna bail on this trip. :cold:
Values the same today in IL. Just got back.
Did you go to the Chicago one or Westmont?
FYI Twin Cities folk, they do not take trade ins...

Saved me a trip... :/
Thanks, was about to call too. Sucks, kinda need a new pc and woulda loved to get a kick ass rig for dirt cheap.
Wow kinect adventures $7

It's $2 at GameStop

I know it's not large flip, but ROI is high if you are heading up there anyway.
Even funnier, they had 4 copies on the shelf at the MC I went to for $3.19 each. It will be hard for them to make money that way.

We don't have a lot of extra money or else I would be all over this. Being selective it looks like you can turn $30+tax into $100 pretty easily. Making it 66% off Anything you buy basically.

If there is a 2 game limit then with the sales on you can replicate this 3 times if you are lucky. Making it $100 into $300. After that it starts getting closer to $50 to $100 in MC credit. Which is 50% off and is closer to BBY.

Man an iPad 2 for $200 is appealing... Or even just update my computer to play upcoming gen games.

today's experience:

their system does not allow the trade in of duplicates. Or more specifically, when you trade in duplicates the server shoots up an error msg, which at my store - crashes the system . According to the CSR, they connect to their national HQ server for trade-ins. at first he started scanning games, he got 3 kinect adventures in just fine, and by 3rd or 4th WWE Smackdown ( i had a couple on each system) the system totally crashed. he said he saw an error msg that said they do not allow duplicates. it took at least 5-10 min for the connection to their national HQ to be re-established, after which i only got to trade in one copy per system.

he seemed new, and had to go back and ask his lead a question 3 or 4 times. and the real kicker was when it was all done and ready to print, he didnt have a printer there and had to run around the store some more. the whole process took way too long and i dont have any idea what im even going to do with microcenter credit.

good luck flippers

Someone else in this thread mentioned something about the employees being clueless and waiting. If you go into a computer store to buy computer parts and you buy what the person helping you is telling you, you're doing it wrong. You go in to any store and tell the person what you want because you've done your research and know what you are there to get.

Secondly. Yea their trade in values are high, and they never have good deals on games. Yes their gaming areas are cool in the stores they have them, they even have some old collector stuff thats still normal price you wouldn't find other places. Chances are with the prices they have on games, and they amazing prices they have on computer hardware, you will spend your in store credit on something else. Which means you'll probably be buying a little more than what you expected due to having the increased funds.

Yeh those flipping to MC for games will be disappointed.

MC runs great promos on computers, computer hardware, and accessories.

Software and HDTV deals are mediocre with a good one every once in a while.

So those flipping should expect computers or computer hardware.
Yes, Bethel Rd. is the only one in Columbus now. It seems that they took out the dedicated game "desk/counter" during the remodel, and now have no one designated to do trade ins. Everyone was pretty much clueless, and even the manager said they'll have to work on it (put certainly didn't get a feeling of urgency from him). Go if you want to trade in a game from the ad, but be prepared to wait and bicker and talk to a manager.
I might try some games tomorrow. Need a new video card.

Closest store to me is about a 25 mile journey on the parkway. No thanks.. only reason to go that far is to hit AC and gamble lol. Good values though for anyone that has one nearby.

To all those who have contributed to this thread, thank you! I turned $36 in GS credit into $85 of MC credit. Used 4 games all listed in this thread, all held their reported values, most notably, :360: Brink at $28. This was at the Madison Heights, MI store, had no problem making a trade at the counter in the gaming department.

What you've been told is more than likely a lie as I traded in two copies of the same game on the same console, in the same transaction and it went through fine. Everything else I traded was one each and I only brought in seven games to trade. The whole process took no longer than five minutes once the employee started the trade. Finding an employee was the hardest part. So I guess this is a case of YMMV.

And here's Microcenter's Black Friday ad for those of you sitting on your credit.

Hmm, not too impressed with the BF ad. Good thing I'm using my credit for computer parts. :p ... was hoping for a 55" LED tv but nothing like that in the ad.

I love how they have dance central 2 right next to dance central, both for $29.99...

Stopped at the Bethel Road store in Cbus.

Headed straight to the service desk with my stack of games:
Me: I would like to trade these in today for store credit.
Rep: Trade? Where did you get these from? We don't do trades anymore.
Me: Yes, according to your ad (shows ad) you are offering trade on video games.
Rep: Well, we used to uhh (looks at ad) uhh.... let me check with manager (dials manager).
Manager: (looks at ad) okay if he has any of the games in the ad give the credit but if their not in the ad
we don't take them.

:ps3: La Noire 25
:wii: Kirby Epic Yarn 25

He might've run into problems cuz he was trading in 4 copies of a game. You only did two. The most I did was two as well. I think more than 2 is pushing it. Lol.

They sell used games and they have a dedicated game area and they have a million employees who do nothing, so you they probably take trade ins.

Thanks for everyone posting trade in value's. Was able to get an Ipad 2 today, they are $50 off this week. Here are a few values I didn't see listed.

Ps3:
The Lord of the Rings Aragorn's Quest $14

Xbox 360:
Bulletstorm $17
Call of Duty Black Ops $22
Crysis 2 $25
Halo Reach $15
James Bond 007 Blood Stone $11
La Noire $25
Need For Speed Hot Pursuit $10

Brink is still holding at $28 as of tonight at the Madison Heights,MI store.

Clerk told me they have had a rash of trades for that game since the Best Buy across the street is selling it for $9.99

I also noticed that Brink was sitting on the shelf brand new, selling for $17, which I find bizarre.
