Been lurking forever and finally have something to contribute. For those of you that were burned by Best Buy's drop in trade-in values and have a Microcenter near you, here's a possible alternative. Microcenter has some trade in values advertised on their website and in the new sales paper. Notice the trade in value for Crysis 2. I've never personally traded there so if anyone has please post your experiences.

http://www.microcenter.com/storefronts/gaming/used.html

YMMV, as some stores do not have trade-in capabilities.
Stores without trade-ins: 'Twin Cities/St. Louis Park, MN', 'Beltway/Rockville, MD' [add more when discovered]

Current trade in values as of 11/29/11 from the CAG community (Thanks fortunado for compiling and editing list)

(11/29/11) - Added some new values today. I overheard someone say that all the games MC buys get shipped off to their buyer and then redistributed among the stores that lack certain titles. At my store they will take one copy per game, per console, per day, per person. So it may be possible to just spread trades of duplicate games out over the course of a few weeks.

(4/1/12) - RAGE Anarchy Edition not being accepted at some stores due to UPC being different from what they allow (even though it is the "better" version). YMMV on this if the employee will override.

To keep the wiki current, try to enter the date you obtained the value.

Just got back from microcenter. i ask the guy on the game department to check bulletstorm for ps3, which is at $17 right now, since BB has it for 7.99 new.

Went back today and traded Halo Reach standard edition ($15) and Fable 3 standard ($10). The girl mentioned that Fable 3 limited edition was going for about $20. I can't remember the actual number she tossed out. I asked her about COD Black Ops hardened edition and it is going for $10 but the regular is going for $22. Go figure.

She made a point of asking me to tell everyone that they take trade-ins year round and not just during the holidays. She even said that she is happy to look up TIV if people call in.

Tried trading the FEAR 3 standard edition and the clerk told me that she couldn't find it in the system . Prices good on 11/30/2011

Bulletstorm (360) - 17
Crysis 2 (360) - 25
Rage (Anarchy Edition, 360) - 27.50
Dues EX (PS3) - 25

maybe it has something to do with Fear 3's ridiculous spelling. F.3.a.r., f.e.a.r. 3, f3ar, who the hell knows.

Very good point!
Tried trading the FEAR 3 standard edition and the clerk told me that she couldn't find it in the system . Prices good on 11/30/2011

Bulletstorm (360) - 17
Crysis 2 (360) - 25
Rage (Anarchy Edition, 360) - 27.50
Dues EX (PS3) - 25
because you need to search for f.e.a.r

Does anybody know how they search games in their TIV database? Do they scan the UPC on the back of games? Some games have specific UPC's like L.A. Noire so I'm not sure if their system will be that picky (like Amazon)? TIA

They can search by UPC and by the title.

Traded in the following at the Mayfield Heights store today:

These kept their values...
Brink (ps3) = $25
Brink (360) = $28
Dragon age 2 (360) = $20

The following I did not trade because the value dropped:
Enslaved (360) = $5
Kinect Adventures (360) = refused (could have value but employee refused to check)
They can search by UPC and by the title.
Awesome, thanks. I'll probably try out some trade-in's tomorrow.
Thank you Microcenter for funding my new computer build. :)
I have roughly $380 credit built up for the same purpose :)

KA needs to be searched manually for it to be added to your trade in list. Microcenter is slowly but surely wising up to these high TiVs though so you best get in on it.

Here's my list traded in on 12/1:
360 Dead Rising 2 15
360 Dead Space 2 25
360 Enslaved 16
360 Hunted 25
360 Mindjack 27
360 Shift 2 20
Wii Epic Mickey 22
Wii Kirby Epic Yarn 25

Quoted:
360 Gears 3 30
360 Battlefield 3 30

So, for me everything held when I did my trades around 6PM EST.

$50 bucks spent at Blockbuster and Target (Hunted) became 175. Used some for a chatpad for 30 and an old style 250GB HD for 70. Looks like a european model like Circuit City and Tigerdirect had a while back. Was glad to find them as online that store was only listed as having 1 refurbished 250 GB for 60. Plus most stores still sell them for 100 or 120 if at all.

So when you trade in do they ask for ID or somehow keep track of what you are trading,. I like in Kansas City, so I'm looking forward to trading in some games, I have madden, batman, gears of war 3 to trade, and any other recommendations you guys think that will help me build some credit.(I'll be doing brink for sure), I'll save up to build a pc for my líl brother

Anybody have any success reporting any TIV's today?
they only ask me to put down my info on a piece of paper. Some how the girl even put my address down wrong.
Kou do you go to the Santa Clara store?

Yup, the girl told me there was a lot of trade-in activity in the storey all of a sudden recently.

Traded at the Sharonville (Cincinnati) location about 20 minutes ago.

Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii) $25
Brink (PS3) $25
Dungeon Siege III (PS3) $27

I have no idea why they do this, but the two times I've gone into a MC to do a trade in they type the name of the game get a bunch of stuff on their screen, stare at it a second, flip the game over and search by UPC and then find the game (and then they repeat this with each game).

I figure out that for both ps3 and xbox there is in the system "Enslaved Odyssey" and "Enslaved Odyssey to the West" if you see the names and the "enslaved odyssey" is 20-something while the "enslaved odyssey to the west" is 5. If they go by name, they will probably select the 5-dollar one as being more "correct" but if they go by UPC they'll get the 20-dollar one.

HTH.

Tip of the cap to you guys taking in tons of games, wish I had the gall to, but don't want to kill the fact that the store is so crazy nice.

that's what they did for my enslaved. She searched enslaved and got Nothing then tried enslaved odyssey and got only the 16 value.
Got the $25 for LA Noire today at the MC near San Jose. Took them about 30 minutes to figure out how to do the trade though. Turned out that it was locked to one of the worker's accounts and no one else had access to it. Not a very good way of doing things. But it all worked out.

Just a tip for those that don't want to buy anything just yet the voucher they gave me had an expiration date but you could use it to get a store gift card that doesn't expire.

Thanks OP.
Just re-read the thread. Is this still true about the Santa Clara store or do the employees have it sorted out by now since theres been a few visit from CAGs in the area by now? I didnt have time to stop by until today but if I get held up thats going to be a waste of a trip.

I've traded in twice w/o any problems. Last visit was on Weds. Only issue was that it took about 15mins to find someone to do the trade.

I was just there yesterday and the process was a lot better. The girl was really friendly and said that she enjoyed doing trade ins. But they do have to use the corporate system and she mentioned that it had been slow since so many people have been trading in lately it causes the whole system to be bogged down.

She also said that they send all the games that get traded in back to corporate and they get distributed from there. Makes sense I guess. That way one store doesn't wind up with 300 copies of Brink.

just came back from MC at Overland Park KS. Took a while since they had to find the guy that does the trade ins. He was a bit of a dick, he rejected two games because they had no manuals and actually i had to fight him about a couple more because those game have the green manuals (read: 1 page manuals) i told him that thats how they came and he gave me a weird look.
He said: "Brink must have been a good game that you got it in 2 systems :sarcastically), I was like definitely buddy so good i got some more at home, lol

Brink xbox 360--------$28
Brink PS3 -------------$25
Spider Man Shattered$10
Need for Speed 2-----$20
Bulletstorm------------$17
Batman AC------------$30
Gears of War 3-------$30

so in all 160, and i gotta go by BBV to pick up the manuals for Assassin Creed Brotherhood, WWE 11 so that should be like 40 more plus i forgot to take my Fallout vegas games so ill be upthere this weeked again maybe another brink game, lol.

Daniela? That chick is nice but she probably said "That's gay" 20 times during the 30 min that I was there.

Can't remember her name but now that you mention it I do remember at least one "that's gay" exclamation while I was there. You must have traded in more games than I did. One inappropriate remark per game? :)

This could become a CAG drinking game. See how many times you can get the girl from Microcenter to say "gay".

Went back with more trades all of which held with the previous mentions:
WWE 2011 360 was 20
Goldeneye Wii was 15
AC Brotherhood 360 was 20

Left Two Worlds 2 and F1 2010 in the car as I wanted to try them out and Reach from an LE I got from BB as I can't decide whether to keep the physical copy or stick with just the digital download copy I have, but haven't used yet. Left them on top of a PS3 Hunted I definitely want to trade in. Hopefully, values hold until Monday when I can get back there again.

Cashier said "We've been getting a lot of the same games traded in recently."
"You don't say, well you've got some good trade in values here."
He went on to tell a story of a guy who bought a bunch of games from a "closing Blockbuster" and traded them in there to purchase a tv. He supposedly turned $300 into a $600 tv. Amateur. Doubling you're money is small time with these values and cost. Interestingly, he said the guy traded several copies of some games all at one time. Makes me consider picking up the huge amount of Dead Space 2 and AC Brotherhoods around and make serious dough. I could probably get 10 DS2s and 20 Brotherhoods. 180 -> 650? Yes, please.

940908 is for Wii
940866 is for PS3
941062 is for 360

NHL PS3 - $22
NHL Xbox - $20
Fable 3 Xbox - $10
De Blob 2 Wii - $12
Operation Flashpoint: RR PS3 - $28

Bought a used Kinect sensor and now need to figure out what to do with the leftover credit. I agree with what others have said, there isn't really much to buy there other than computer stuff. I suppose I'll burn the credit on iTunes. Good credit deals but I think I'm one and done there.

No Daniela for me. Just some white dude that was pretty chill about the whole trade in process.

I have nothing to contribute to this thread since there's not a single microcenter near by (this whole microcenter thing has got to be a myth... Just like Meijers...) but I will tell you that I laughed incredibly hard at this tonight.

Thanks for the laughs mentalward.

does any1 knows the trade in value for kill zone 3 and infamous 2 for ps3, since gamefly has them on sell right now for used. if is low i will just get 5 copy of crysis 2 for ps3.
Was rejected at the Rockville, MD location...(went out and bought games at Blockbuster too)
Sorry. You should have checked my post a couple pages back where I mention that the Rockville store doesn't do trade-ins. Neither does the Fairfax store.

I learned the hard way as well. I'm stuck with a copy of Brink I don't want or need.

I'm about to go find out. I ordered replacement copies for myself on most of the Gamefly deals today and yesterday and am going to trade in my original copies. I'll post everything I trade in and their values here.

:bouncy: Just a reminder: Be sure you update the OP Wiki with your trade-in values and the date you traded in to help out everyone else. :bouncy:

saw another cag at the MH MI store today. Traded in a few games will update values later. Clerk was telling me that some one traded in 20 copies of Brink yesterday and told the clerk that he bought them from BB for $10...Some people are just plain fucking stupid

Wait, when I checked earlier I was told they didn't do trade-ins at that location? Now they do?

Time for me to jump on some of these values. Surprised they took 20 copies of the same game though, that's just suspicious.

Oh that was you this morning lol!..thought you where a fellow cag'er. Would have said something but didn't want to make it obvious to the clerk. I heard the same story from the clerk about the guy and 20" copies of Brink, just surprised the value hasn't tanked yet. Great experience all an all, just need to figure out something to buy now lol! :)

ah some of my games are already in my UPS hub but they don't deliver today =*(. Wont get it til Monday. Hopefully TIV isn't killed by then.
