Been lurking forever and finally have something to contribute. For those of you that were burned by Best Buy's drop in trade-in values and have a Microcenter near you, here's a possible alternative. Microcenter has some trade in values advertised on their website and in the new sales paper. Notice the trade in value for Crysis 2. I've never personally traded there so if anyone has please post your experiences.

YMMV, as some stores do not have trade-in capabilities.
Stores without trade-ins: 'Twin Cities/St. Louis Park, MN', 'Beltway/Rockville, MD' [add more when discovered]

(11/29/11) - Added some new values today. I overheard someone say that all the games MC buys get shipped off to their buyer and then redistributed among the stores that lack certain titles. At my store they will take one copy per game, per console, per day, per person. So it may be possible to just spread trades of duplicate games out over the course of a few weeks.

(4/1/12) - RAGE Anarchy Edition not being accepted at some stores due to UPC being different from what they allow (even though it is the "better" version). YMMV on this if the employee will override.

For some reason I don't think it's a CAG, there's a guy on SD that I know all too well that does this kind of stuff, wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be him.

Also no it's not a "sd killed it" kind of blame, i've met the guy(he liked to brag about how he would buy all the stock at stores to put on craigslist) and heard about him from other stores as well. He's known to kill the madison/troy area for MI when it comes to BB, Target, Staples, microcenter ect.

Point taken. I hadn't checked SD in a few days. Hopefully he trolls the site and knows some folks here think he's a fucking tool.
 
Does anyone know if the garden city NY microcenter accepts trades? tried calling and I no one picks up.
 
Bummer, my store's system was offline again today. I have a hell of a time trying to trade-in on weekends. Whenever I go in during the week (when I can get off work) it works just fine.

You don't need to spend your credit all in one swoop. I was able to take $154 in credit, buy Skyrim, and then the cashier asked, 'Do you want credit or cash?'

I was completely blown away. After a second of silence, I said, "Guess cash."

And, that was the second time it happened!!!! On a previous trip, I had $62 dollars in credit and bought $50 of stuff. The cashier did not even ask and gave me $12 back. I just thought because it was under $15 that was standard. :lol:
 
You can combine receipts into a gift card as well.

maybe post ur location, someone might know. Only way I found out was by calling them. They dropped my call twice, and about 10 min wait.
 
Traded today in Tustin, CA.

All values already reported here, and all held. Limit of one title per console.

Also, they had :360: Mindjack on sale for $12.xx even though it trades for $27. Dunno why, but I picked up the two copies they had with the credit they gave me. They also had :ps3: F1: 2010 for $13.xx (trades for $17) and :ps3: Kane And Lynch 2 for $8.xx. Might wanna check your locations for deals like these (especially the ones that flip right back to them)
 
I have a feeling someone is asleep at the wheel with these TIVs. No way they're going to make their money back on the majority of these. Its not like its going to put them out of business or anything, but once someone realizes they're handing out more store credit than cash that these used games are bringing in, the TIVs will have to come crashing down.

Unless it just changed you can. I traded in 4 Halo Aniverery other day. We actually LAN games sometimes. I traded in those, and bought 4 BF3. They gave me no issues at all.

Yeah I saw the games you were trading in...knew you were a CAG. I have to add a SMART cag too. One copy of each game. As the name states he was Mellow! I bought a blu ray for my father in law and an adobe photo video editor for my mom for Christmas. Look like a champ for like $70

I guess it's ymmv. the tustin,ca store is VERY anal about 1 copy per title per person, EVER. they said something about corporate sent out a nasty reminder to them about enforcing that restriction. i am jealous of you guys who can trade in multi copies

Yeah the games usually tell the tale of a CAG! lol..I really wanted to stay within the one per title seeing that we are pretty fortunate to even have a local Microcenter with such crazy values. Hopefully this doesn't get fuck ed up anytime soon and tiv's hold a little longer. I really dont game anymore on a desktop and am in no need of parts so, might just grab me one of those hdtv's for a good price and a few christmas gifts for family with the rest :lol:. Finally had success yesterday in Westmont, Il ..took 2 Brinks, 2 Mindjacks, 2 Bulletstorms, SVR:11, Shift 2 ~$220 in credit... the funny thing was that the associate there said "Whooahhh, someone else just came in here and brought almost the exact same gaaammeeess"... lol thanks OP

I went in with a svr 11, brink, home front, and red faction and they told me the system crashed after they did 3 of the value look ups what time did you go?

Drove 6 1/2 hours roundtrip... from Bloomington to go , so you people whining about a 30 minute drive get real... :lol:

I went to the checkout they tell me to go to Customer service for trade in ; i walk over to customer service a mexican is buying a laptop who cant speak english , once they find someone to communicate to him that hes $30 short finally he gets it paid for and im next in line they tell me oh you got to go to the gaming department so I walk over there I'm looking around like where the hells the cash register in the gaming department ; after looking for a minute I finally realized it was berried in crap and theres no one in the gaming department and within a minute or two someone showed up... It was overall more pleasant then the times i've called and got no response via phone... The store is so much more busy then BestBuys around here I understand why they never pickup the phone...

I went on the 3rd ... and had no problem traded 2 brinks in... Systems weren't down...

Can anyone confirm Brink 360, Kirby Yarn, and Smackdown 2011 360 are still at listed prices? I tried calling my local MC for about 1hour straight before I drive, and noone is answering...

Brink was $28 as of the 3rd.... I went to blockbuster for those games and couldn't find them to trade in... Sorry...

I went to Westmont on the way back hit a rain storm , everyone was off in the ditches @ the ramps with Police officers directing traffic so we sat there for a hour in a line waiting to go a mile... Got out & stretched on the highway it was so bad at one point....

I got 28 for brink 20 for svr 11 ps3 in Westmont il

These came from the Gamefly that they gave away 2 free copies... $16 profit... Cost me $40 ... Went to see how the process went...
 
Just back from from Tustin MC for 2nd time. System was up. They would not take Brink or Hunted: The Demons Forge, said they had too many.....

When i went to Westmont Microcenter I asked "So do you guys get alot of trade ins" Guy goes nah... most people just go to gamestop and get ripped off... So you CAGS need to get on it! :)
