Been lurking forever and finally have something to contribute. For those of you that were burned by Best Buy's drop in trade-in values and have a Microcenter near you, here's a possible alternative. Microcenter has some trade in values advertised on their website and in the new sales paper. Notice the trade in value for Crysis 2. I've never personally traded there so if anyone has please post your experiences.

YMMV, as some stores do not have trade-in capabilities.
Stores without trade-ins: 'Twin Cities/St. Louis Park, MN', 'Beltway/Rockville, MD' [add more when discovered]

(11/29/11) - Added some new values today. I overheard someone say that all the games MC buys get shipped off to their buyer and then redistributed among the stores that lack certain titles. At my store they will take one copy per game, per console, per day, per person. So it may be possible to just spread trades of duplicate games out over the course of a few weeks.

(4/1/12) - RAGE Anarchy Edition not being accepted at some stores due to UPC being different from what they allow (even though it is the "better" version). YMMV on this if the employee will override.

Just got back from the Tustin, CA location. My 2nd trip as well. Guy told me that I could only trade-in once every 30 days (first trade was 2 days ago), but he looked at the games I was trading and said he'd let it slide (I purposefully didn't take any copies of Brink or Hunted because of your post, so that might've helped).

I think the employees are just making stuff up on the fly though, or they're getting/spreading different info.

So mad they wouldn't take Hunted or Brink. My credit was $50 shy of the ssd I want, and that would have covered it.

Anyone know if they take used 360 hardware?

i wanna trade in my brink and mindjack tonight but i have a dinner with my friends. Will try tomorrow morning. My guess is they operate like Blockbuster, with a general policy but each store is YMMV as to how many they want to take in. I really hope they take my games tomorrow.

Also, a note that I find useful. I called in ahead and asked for TIV, the girl went ahead and process my trade-in over the phone. SO when I come in, she just prints it out and put these stickers on my games, that's it. It beats going in and finds out the system is down. System actually goes in and out through the day, so if you call in an hour ahead, they can keep trying until they get it.

Interesting, do you know who helped you. I've traded mostly with Adam, and occasionally with Josh and they both are good natured and helpful.

i went to the tustin micro center tonight and the guy was very nice (i think his name was josh). at first he wasnt there but i had this new guy try and help me with the trade in but it wasnt his department so he didnt know how. he found josh and got him to come over and he took all of my games (including brink). i didnt get to look at the exact values but

:ps3: enslaved was 5 but he said that the xbox was a lot more (i chose the wrong one at blockbuster!),
:360: tdu 2 bulletstorm mind jack kept their prices.

this was my first flip. $60 at blockbuster-->~55 at gamestop->45 best buy and 4 duke nukems->the duke nukems lead to 51 at blockbuster->213 at micro center. it was a lot but in the end i got a new xbox!

josh was really nice and took all of my games and i talked him into taking my second brink so i would have enough to get the xbox so if youre going to the tustin one try and go later at night and see if josh is there

Which blockbuster are you tustin guys hitting up? the closest one to where i live is over on harbor and they never seem to have anything.

I was the next guy. You just need to be friendly to these guys and they will treat you back with equal respect. Glad you got you're xbox.

Brink tanked on Microcenter.com it went from $17.99 to $12.99 got to think this is about to be over with Get those last minute trades in ;)

One more thing if you go to microcenter.com set your store @ the top you can check your "instore availability" of products to see maybe if they've got a brink overload etc....
 
I traded in some brinks today, TIV still holds at $28 at Santa Clara store. Same goes for mindjack, shift 2, and infamous 2. All TIV holds.

Just got back from the Santa Clara store also. Had a bit of a heart attack when she looked at my two PS3 Brinks. She said I could only trade in one but could come back some other time with another game to match with Brink.

Not sure if this is a drop but PS3 Brink was $25 and Bulletstorm held at $17. Got all 3 from BBV for $21.xx so if I end up not being able to trade in the second Brink, I've still doubled my credit.

PS3 has always been $25. Kim told me that it was one per title only, but I told her that someone proccessed my trade-in before and they were fine with multiples. So she did it for me.
 
well just got back from MC at Overland Park KS. Pretty much everything held up.
Im up to $300 on credit, and already have 5 more games to trade from BBV for about $100 in credit.

I got LA Noire for like $9 at target. Mindjack, Tron, and Just Dance from BBV for $20. Fallout and madden were mine. So far so good, i wish everybody good luck trading and even though i wont be buying games i look forward to a tablet or pc stuff

Yeah, it was likely her. It wasn't a big deal as I work nearby so I'll try again later in the week. Was happy with the result regardless. My BBV credit was pretty much free given my 2-3x flips using GS credit.

All trades are sent back to the mother ship before being redistributed to individual stores, so store inventory is irrelevant.

With the blockbuster deal going on, I turned $240 spent at blockbuster (40 games) into a 64gb iPad2, the case, and the 2 year accidental plan. @kingwormer definitely true I'm looking to build up for either an ipad or transformer prime tablet, I wonder how many trades/trips you made, I'm averaging about $140 on credit each trip so I know I gotta get to work on that before the tiv tank or bbv sale ends. For once there is a regional store that I can actually take advantage of.

I traded in all the games over a 5 day work week. I pass by the microcenter here in Houston everyday on my way home. I just split the games up and took some each day. Then on the 5th day, just bought my iPad2. I am blessed to have a microcenter in my path, unlike others I have read.

First glitch at the Santa Clara store. Game trade site wasn't loading so Kim sent me an email on the following values:

Brink held at $25. Madden 11 is $17 and Mindjack is $25. All PS3.

Hope these values hold until tomorrow when I go back in again. Fortunately, it's close to my work.
 
Finished upgrading to my new i7/8GB/GTX580 computer thanks to Microcenter ... decided it was time to call it quits with the flips as things were getting a little out of hand. Had enough left over to complete a 2nd PC with my spare parts and get a Roku for the bedroom too - which I gotta say, is really cool.
 
I just got a new video card and a Samsung Galaxy Tab, which I then flipped on Amazon for the $$$ because I decided the Asus Transformer Prime would be better.
 
What is TIV for ncaa11 madden11, maybe you can add it to wiki, thnx.

two TIV for Just Dance, one $10, one $20, the only difference is UPC, you are lucky, as the copy i got from BBV has $10usd UPC, or your cashier does not even bother to check UPC.

well i guess i got lucky cause i got the cool guy at MC otherwise it would have been 10 bucks, i actually gotta make a run back to MC sometime this weekend cause i got Dead Space 2, Portal 2, Assassins Creed Brotherhood, F1 2010, and splatterhouse to trade in, so hopefully nothing goes down as far as TIV, ill probabky pick an SD card and a laptop cooler but other than that im saving it for a tablet, wonder if they will stock the transformer prime there

So one title per platform doesn't work? I can understand no duplicate of the same platform but last time I traded in 1x brink xbox and 1x brink ps3 just fine.
 
Good flip from BBY to MC going on. $10 for DS2 and the December ad has DS2 TiV @ $25 ( so has to be honored unless they post correction on doors/ad, even my closest MC that "says" they don't take trade ins said they have to honor the ad games (that's bethel for you Ohioans)
 
Wow if their trade-ins are priced so well then maybe they give great prices on trading in consoles too? Anyone know what they are giving for a 20GB launch XBOX 360 and a 40GB fat PS3?

Not sure they have any overlooking the trade values besides the fact... Oh were losing money go find where type of thing... I was at the Customer Service desk and they were waiting on 3 people... they musta took in $20,000 in the minutei stood there... Each store probably rakes in million per day or more... So they can afford to lose $1000 to a few of us gamers... Guy in westmont said hardly anyone brings in trades...
 
All stores take trade ins... but some only take the ones in the ad as far as i know... May require speaking with manager etc...
