Been lurking forever and finally have something to contribute. For those of you that were burned by Best Buy's drop in trade-in values and have a Microcenter near you, here's a possible alternative. Microcenter has some trade in values advertised on their website and in the new sales paper. Notice the trade in value for Crysis 2. I've never personally traded there so if anyone has please post your experiences.

http://www.microcenter.com/storefronts/gaming/used.html

YMMV, as some stores do not have trade-in capabilities.
Stores without trade-ins: 'Twin Cities/St. Louis Park, MN', 'Beltway/Rockville, MD' [add more when discovered]

Current trade in values as of 11/29/11 from the CAG community (Thanks fortunado for compiling and editing list)

(11/29/11) - Added some new values today. I overheard someone say that all the games MC buys get shipped off to their buyer and then redistributed among the stores that lack certain titles. At my store they will take one copy per game, per console, per day, per person. So it may be possible to just spread trades of duplicate games out over the course of a few weeks.

(4/1/12) - RAGE Anarchy Edition not being accepted at some stores due to UPC being different from what they allow (even though it is the "better" version). YMMV on this if the employee will override.

To keep the wiki current, try to enter the date you obtained the value.
He's saying every week, each Microcenter makes $7,000,000+ in sales, give or take.
If each store makes 7 million a week in sales that would mean each store makes roughly 364 million dollars a year. Something tells me that the math in this situation is wrong.

Damn you MC, Tustin store had no one to support the game area tonight, it was only 7:30 WTF!!

What really pisses me off is how they all pretend someone will be right there, and no one shows up. I had to talk to three different ppl before someone finally admitted no one was at the store who knew how to do a trade. 20 mins drive and another 20 mins waiting. I was going to buy an xbox tonight as well.

No, the math is correct. 1 million x 7 = 7 million.

I just asked a 4th grader and she also confirmed it was correct.

I was going to buy an xbox tonight as well.
what a coincidence! i went there again too haha i tried but a guy from the apple department tried to help me and josh said the system was down but theres supposed to be someone there all day tomorrow so im gonna try and stop by
any reports from the Cambridge, MA store?
I traded in a couple games to them 2 weeks ago, haven't been back in since, but they definitely do trade-ins. Service is kinda slow though, but definitely worth it if you have the titles.

Edit: Traded in Brink this afternoon for 360, still $28.

Does anyone know if there are TIV for ALL games or only the ones shown in the ad? I want to trade my Twilight Princess and Mario Kart DS as well as other goodies that I got from BBV

Depends Rot, Some apparently do not take trade ins. But since the items are in the ad they will override it and give you the GC as it would be false advertisement if they didn't post an ad correction.

My local MC supposedly doesn't take trade ins as they scrapped their gaming department in a renovation. Although I was curious if this is supposed to be a corporate thing since they actual ship the games in before restocking them on the shelves. So I called MC corporate to inquire if my MC is just guessing that they don't take trade ins since they don't have a dedicated gaming department.

I'll let you know later what I find out.

Ah that'd be helpful - I am going to be going to the one in Cambridge, MA so I know they have their department still. I am worried that if I were to ask the employees they would either not know or would give false info :whistle2:#

Oh, I can assure you, you'll get both at the Cambridge store. I haven't traded anything there since Halo 3 was released and they had that insane trade in offer. It's just been one excuse after another and so much of a hassle that I can't even be bothered to flip copies of Brink to them.

True - I am tempted on actually trading in only one Brink (which is my own for $10 last June) and a bunch of Wii/DS/360 games - almost all not mentioned...I need a new laptop and this would be a much needed opportunity to actually do such but I haven't ever had a problem with them...but only have dealt thrice. When I call THAT is when the BS starts rolling hardcore
lol i'm not sure microcenter even makes 7 mil per year
Remember, revenue is not the same as profit.

Those who trade in at the Dallas Location be prepared for some restrictions on games. Apparently they got a letter from Corporate chewing them out on trade in’s. The girl I always traded into, had a supervisor over her shoulder the whole time during today’s trades. They won’t accept games without manuals, and the used disc have to look brand new (WTF?). A few disc had light scratches or finger prints and were rejected. I left one of those blockbuster barcodes by accident on the back of one of the games, and the supervisor was adamant that they don’t take in rental trades. The sticker was on the back of the game case. Had about 20 games and in the end would only accept 5, so I just left. Ahh well, it was good while it lasted.

So i just got back from the microcenter at santa clara, ca. apparently there are realizing that best buys has brink for 4.99, since the guy who help me ask me if i got from best buy. then the store manager told him that i can only trade in 2 copies for brink, then he told me that i couldnt do anymore trade in for the same game, in this case "brink". so i decide to have my friend or any1 else do it for me. it wont be long before they change the brink trade in price, since i was told they had a lot of copies of the same game in both system. good luck to all of u, because im pretty sure this trade in offer would end pretty soon.

^^ yeah, the guy who helped me yesterday I think was a manager, tall Chinese guy (like me). He mentioned he noticed Brink was popular. I just shrugged. I've only traded in singles of PS3 Brink (twice) so to keep it on the lowdown but I figured it was going to get killed at anytime. I'm not going to press it using the BB deal. It's a good way to kill the deal if it hasn't done so already.

I traded in a copy of Brink for each the PS3 and 360 from BB to MC earlier.

360 got me 28 and the PS3 got me 25. The store was super busy as usual.

Also traded in a few other games. Will check my receipt in a bit.

Must be your store only... Cause the guy didnt even check my discs... He opened it up ... closed it , and took 2 copies without checking...

you can add this too...or i guess I can lol

360 WWE All Stars $20

I was at the MH MI store today. Did a few single trades...Some douchebag made two trips with 28 more Brinks today and the staff is getting PISSED. The guy who helped me looked over my games with a fine tooth comb. He basically said he knew that this other guy was getting them for $5 and trading them in. AWKWARD :)
Tustin MC currently has no one working in gaming because the only guy is taking his lunch. For an hour. Great.
My cousin stopped by there earlier (4pm-ish) and the system went down while he was in the process of trading. Just an FYI...

they just put all the trade ins on a microcenter gift card right? do they sell any other gift cards there, can you buy a gift card with a gift card?

This happened to me twice at Walmart last week when I was trying to get in on the $100 GC with any smartphone deal. I was patient, but another lady was not and bitched to a manager. The manager said "legally" he could not ask the phone guy to come off his break. When the guy came back the manager instructed the phone guy to give us the phones for free. So I guess good things do come to those who wait.

I went to 2 different MCs today. The first i couldn't get anyone to help me and the 2nd they told me the system was down again. He just said to call in to see if the system was back up. I have a bag of stuff from Blockbuster so I hope i didn't waste my time.

well, you can most likely assume some idiot traded them in today and told them the deal
just keep your mouth shut and be cool...
bragging and abuse will kill this quick

There was a guy at the Santa Clara store with at least 15+ games to trade, more than half of them were Brink. A handful of LA Noire's (Target clearance I'm guessing), Duke Nukem Forever's (Best Buy) and I think Thor (kudo's for scalping this fine game as well).

I think after seeing the guy's haul of SEALED games, the worker made some BS story about the trade in system going down all throughout the day.

I'm gonna try tomorrow morning, and if this doesn't fly, I guess my cousins and I have some Brinking to do...

I traded in some games today as well and now thinking back as i filled out the tradein log trying to see who this elusive scumbag is causing the damage lol. Guy rejected a game i had due to some minor scratches but took the rest of the games i had no problem. You can best believe this brink's job we be coming to an end very shortly.

Batman AC PS3 was $27 today.

Oh, to the guy who asked about GCs: The trade in desk spits out a "return" receipt and then you can take that slip to the cashier to put that credit onto a GC.

What time does the system usually let u guys trade? Every single time when I call in the evening I was told the system are down. starting to piss me off since I'm sitting on BBV games going on the 3rd weeks now.

Never check but some1 posted in the early page that only MC's GC

Which store? I think someone is lying to you (or you have horrible timing lol).

I posted this info a week ago so it's probably buried. Anyway, I will type it again.

MicroCenter (at least mine) gives you a receipt with your total in-store credit shown. If you would like to use it, select anything in the store and present your receipt to the cashier as payment. IF there is remaining credit, the cashier will be presented with an option on their terminal for the remainder to be dispersed as cash or credit. Most of the time, they do not ask and just hand you back cash. I have done this 3x now - my cash back has been $12, $90, and most recently, $117. NO ONE batted an eye, not even the manager, who had to give the poor cashier more $$ just to pay me out.

haven't traded with them in over 4 years when their promos were really great, but their employees didn't know how to do the promos correctly.

Ok. Thanks. They must have stopped taking games sometime between then and now. Two other members here have reported that they don't take games. I'll take their word for it since MC can never seem to answer their phones when I call.
Brink and everything else held, posting from my phone but I'll add the rest of the values later
thanks for the heads up. now i have to dump my remaining games that were going to BB to Microcenter now. Glad it worked out that I didn't have to drive out to my local Micro store earlier this week since I'm in the area today. Would have been a waste of gas and time just doing that.

This week has been awesome with trade-ins. Too bad I missed Brink at Microcenter. I haven't been to a Microcenter before, what is their limit on trading in multiple copies of the same game?

Tustin store only lets you trade 1 copy per title per platform. So you could trade 1 :360: Brink and 1 :ps3: Brink (2 copies total) but not 2 copies of the same platform...

Can always take someone with you...

actually tustin didnt take my friends brink 2 days ago (it was his first trade ever)

while brink was very profitable i hope people would stop flooding MC with them. if they end up with 100s of Brinks you are just forcing them to look into the problem. why rock the boat when tons of games have incredible TIVs
