Been lurking forever and finally have something to contribute. For those of you that were burned by Best Buy's drop in trade-in values and have a Microcenter near you, here's a possible alternative. Microcenter has some trade in values advertised on their website and in the new sales paper. Notice the trade in value for Crysis 2. I've never personally traded there so if anyone has please post your experiences.

YMMV, as some stores do not have trade-in capabilities.
Stores without trade-ins: 'Twin Cities/St. Louis Park, MN', 'Beltway/Rockville, MD' [add more when discovered]

(11/29/11) - Added some new values today. I overheard someone say that all the games MC buys get shipped off to their buyer and then redistributed among the stores that lack certain titles. At my store they will take one copy per game, per console, per day, per person. So it may be possible to just spread trades of duplicate games out over the course of a few weeks.

(4/1/12) - RAGE Anarchy Edition not being accepted at some stores due to UPC being different from what they allow (even though it is the "better" version). YMMV on this if the employee will override.

Just make sure you don't get a supervisor. They are much more strict about it. Normal cashiers have allowed me to get cash back every time.

I'm jelly of you guys who able to trade in other state beside CO. Back when I have games to trade, I call in every week to the only store in my state and was always told that the system is down. Is it only the MC in CO that have this prob? Was only able to trade in twice so still 160 away from an Ipad2. Dont know wat I'm gonna do w/ my credit beside killing it off by buying overprice batteries.
 
I'm on the fence about going. The nearest store is 50 miles away but I could potentially make 200 bucks in one trip out there. I just don't want to drive all the way out there and have something go wrong or have them give me a hard time because I'd be trading in 25 games.

you should be fine,I traded in about 15 games the other day without any issue and got $275.

Who did you trade in with? I took two copies of RAGE in last month and both were accepted without any issue.

Did you trade in the Anarchy edition? I traded that version to a red headed Caucasian girl. She said there are only 2 employees working that department usually (her & another girl). She wouldn't budge even though I told her it's the same disc as the regular version & only difference is that it includes a piece of paper inside for the redemption code. Also, she told me one per console b/c the system keeps track.
 
My Microcenter is starting to enforce a strict one title per platform trade in policy this past week. They will check your past trade in history and make sure you don't double dip.
 
I was able to trade in Batman AC and Dead Island, got about $54 in credit. I got some receipt and apparently it acts as store credit but was wondering if I can buy a gift card with it?

I still don't understand why they don't just drop the values to reasonable prices. It's like any game that was released after 2008 has a TIV of 27 or 28. Even at 1/year that's not reasonable for some of these games and would make more sense to just adjust their TIVs instead of limiting everyone.

mine did take my steel book Black Ops that came in the prestige edition and that had no bar code ,they just looked it up and just added it to my credit. hope this helps.

Brink bring to mind, more fair to me if 1 person not able to trade in a bunch of the same game.
My MC adopt the 1 game per platform 3 months ago after some chic flip 30 Brink to them. She can't do it anymore but I heard she recruit some other peeps to do it for her. They are not as stupid as you think girly, they know because your recruitment tried to trade in the same games you did. Choke on that for causing the 1 limit :booty:

I have about 15 games to trade in but man, I just hate going there to trade in ... I always feel awkward for some reason. But when it's over and you have that big fat store credit in your hand, it's totally worth it.

Lol I feel the same way, I havn't traded in anything in a few months. Going to trade-in there is a pain. But the last few times I traded in and bought something small, I got a cash refund on the store credit, which was awesome.
 
Traded in Dead Island for the 360 for $28 today. Hunted the Demon's Forge is down to $6.50 now. He told me about them turning away Mindjack, and Bulletstorms though.
 
Yeah the westbury ny store stopped taking trade-ins months ago. Sucks but that place was subpar to say the least

I did a trade in at the Santa Clara store and the new policy covers one copy of each title regardless of platform (i.e. they will only accept one Batman: Arkham City for either PS3 or Xbox 360 - not both). No issues with trading in a copy that I've traded in before though.

No worries. Another CAG reported awhile back that one employee enforced a rule to not trade in any duplicates ever so I think it's going to vary by the employee.

I notice it's the always same 5-7 CAGs on the sign-in list - as long as we don't kill it for ourselves by overdoing it we can keep this going long term :D

YMMV on whether or not cashier still takes the games if UPC isn't 1-to-1.
