Been lurking forever and finally have something to contribute. For those of you that were burned by Best Buy's drop in trade-in values and have a Microcenter near you, here's a possible alternative. Microcenter has some trade in values advertised on their website and in the new sales paper. Notice the trade in value for Crysis 2. I've never personally traded there so if anyone has please post your experiences.

http://www.microcenter.com/storefronts/gaming/used.html

YMMV, as some stores do not have trade-in capabilities.
Stores without trade-ins: 'Twin Cities/St. Louis Park, MN', 'Beltway/Rockville, MD' [add more when discovered]

Current trade in values as of 11/29/11 from the CAG community (Thanks fortunado for compiling and editing list)

(11/29/11) - Added some new values today. I overheard someone say that all the games MC buys get shipped off to their buyer and then redistributed among the stores that lack certain titles. At my store they will take one copy per game, per console, per day, per person. So it may be possible to just spread trades of duplicate games out over the course of a few weeks.

(4/1/12) - RAGE Anarchy Edition not being accepted at some stores due to UPC being different from what they allow (even though it is the "better" version). YMMV on this if the employee will override.

To keep the wiki current, try to enter the date you obtained the value.
does the houston location take trade ins?
yes they do,I just traded in last night, a heads up though street fighter x tekken, resident evil ORC and asuras wrath were not taken do to them not being in the system.
Looks like no trades in Ohio..? But they sell used. Hm?
I've traded at the Cleveland area store before, but it was like 2 months ago.
Sorry if I repeat Sutarion. I brought 18 games to trade in today, 14 were accepted (already updated OP).

:360:/:ps3: Bulletstorm - $17
:360:/:ps3: Bodycount - $25 or 26 (not sure which was which on receipt)
:360:/:ps3: Final Fantasy XIII-2 - $30

:360: FEAR 3 - $25
:360: Mindjack - $27
:360: Crysis 2 - $25
:360: Transformers Dark of the Moon - $25
:360: X-Men Destiny - $28

:ps3: SOCOM 4 - $27
:ps3: Thor - $25
:ps3: Dead Island - $28

Games rejected because of UPC or not in system:

:ps3: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
:360:/:ps3: RAGE Anarchy Edition
:360: Borderlands GOTY Edition (with DLC on disc). Apparently they take the one with DLC inserts?! Insane but oh well.

** Note that they would not take RAGE Anarchy Edition because of the UPC being different. If you're desperate to trade in, you would need to obtain case inserts for the regular version I suppose or swap someone for a regular version?

YMMV on whether or not cashier still takes the games if UPC isn't 1-to-1.
I was going to go there today to trade in a few things including Rage Anarchy Edition, glad I didn't waste my time. If we both showed up with a ton a games to trade in they may have flipped a wig. Guess I'll have to find something else to trade in, that sucks because $27 would have been hella-nice :whistle2:\ Get anything good with all that credit?
I've traded at the Cleveland area store before, but it was like 2 months ago.
Says no in central ohio..I am in Columbus.

i went to the northern VA MC store and there was no workers in the gaming department for over 30 minutes...finally i decided to walk around and ask someone in another department but they told me that they don't do trade-ins at all at that store...
can anyone confirm this or was the guy just ignorant?

Hey does anyone know how much they give for a Nintendo dsi? No one has really talked about trade ins of systems so that's why I ask.

She said that everyone that had recently come in to trade games had tried to trade in RAGE. She said she wanted to take it and knew it was the better version but that she couldn't because of the UPC being different. Usually the girl with the red hair will accept one-off UPC games like that but this was the first time I traded in with the shorter girl. They're both really nice; I've never had a problem trading in there except when their machine was offline a few times in December.

I just rebuilt my PC so not sure. I mostly wanted to get the games out of my possession just in case their values dropped. I'm thinking of doing a new LED TV toward the end of this year if I can get enough credit.

i posted earlier about the rockville MD store not doing trade ins, i asked about the fairfax one and they said they didn't do it either

pretty long day but i'm happy. traded in some games and was able to get a PS Vita Wifi with trade in credit plus 30 dollars cash. no changes in TIVs to report, everything was the same as reported or in the OP.

good to hear. have yet to trade in anything at the sc store but am happy for those that do.

thanks man. yeah, they're pretty chill over there. but i limit it to one copy per title (whether 360 or PS3). then i just spread out my trades over more than one visit. so far, it's helped a lot when trading in Rage to just remove the slipcover and don't trade it in with that. seems to be troublesome whenever i leave the slipcover on.

btw, why haven't you traded in anything there yet?

3 bb's and 5 gs within 10 minutes of my house so it just seems more practical to stay close. that, and i just use the credit to get more of the cheap games for myself or friends/coworkers. haven't really heard of any good game deals there so it doesn't really seem for me. might trade in a couple games to pick up asuras wrath on the cheap though.

Nice, wait what city do you live in if you don't mind me asking. If not, you can PM it. Yeah I picked up Asuras Wrath from micro center haha. MC credit is good for things that haven't gone on sale. But also their trade in values are great.
Anyone knows if they accept games without original artwork, case and manuals?
AFAIK, they don't care about manuals at the santa clara store. But not sure about missing coverart, haven't traded in a game without it.
Anyone knows if they accept games without original artwork, case and manuals?
I'd try to avoid trading in incomplete games. It'll just be another reason an uncooperative employee will use to deny your trade.

Crazy, I got $28 for X-Men Destiny yesterday. Looks like that one dropped $8 overnight?
So do they give credit on a giftcard/certificate or receipt or account info? How does it work?
They give you a "return" receipt and it's also put on your account as a credit. In either case, you can ask for a gift card. I tend to do the gift card.

If you use the credit in your account/receipt, you can buy something and the remainder change you can get cash or credit.

I was planning on buying multiple copies of some games and having my fiancé trade them in for me. Do you have to have a MicroCenter “account” to trade in games and get credit? Apologies for my ignorance, I only recently learned there was a MicroCenter here in Dallas and have never shopped there much less traded in anything for credit. Ultimately I’m trying to trade in as much I can to get a 3DS and didn’t want to run into any speed bumps. So my question is, can we each do separate trade-ins for gift card credit and use both gift cards for one purchase or will that credit be tied to individual accounts applied to that persons purchase? Please don’t flame me, just don’t want to walk in/out looking and feeling like an idiot, I’d rather do that here where I’m somewhat anonymous haha!

I believe they create a trade in account/profile for you when you first trade in. I wouldn't recommend trading in multiples of a single title at once. Also, you should be able to use others trade in credit, used my brothers yesterday.

At the Dallas location, they always ask for your drivers license. Just request for a gift card every time you trade games in so you can combine them later to get that 3DS. BTW, this location won't accept trade-in's of the same game on same console but same game on different consoles are allowed.

Sweet! Thanks for the info, I was planning on getting copies for each platform but if I can do it all myself I will. If I can get full TIV for everything I have I should be able to get a brand new 3DS and a game with some leftover...the question is, what game...?
You get a lot of trade in value from Microcenter, but their selection of games is TRBL.
But their selection of computers, computer parts, and cheaper-than-other-stores iPad2 is indeed not TRBL. Or you can pile up credit to put it towards the price of a big screen TV or more gaming systems.

On the upside, while their gaming selection is terrible, you can get a game day 1 if you wanted to without paying much for the games you've flipped to MC.

If there's something you want, and you don't see it out, ask. It seems that my local Microcenter keeps many newer games in the back.

It doesn't make sense to me, but that's probably where the selection is - especially if its showing available on the web site.

did my first trade in at the santa clara store today. picked up asuras wrath ps3 and they gave me the difference in cash. great experience but a bit out of the way for my liking, will probably only stop by if theres a new release i want to play right away (like asuras wrath) or if i can hitch a ride with donut lol. saw some cags's names on the sign in sheet too.

Went to do a some trade in's at santa clara microcenter today and this was what i got for them:

PS3:
Dead Space - $5
Fallout 3 - $6
Uncharted 2 - $12
Red Dead Redemption - $12
Vanquish - $14
COD Black Ops - $23
Gran Turismo - $25
Marvel vs Capcom 3 - $25

Xbox:
Gears of war 3 - $30

Wii:
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - $12

Prices for trade in's are far superior to that of gamestop. Its definitely worth a stop to trade in some games if you are in the area.

lololol i was totally standing right behind you. seriously.

Nice! Dunno about you but if I had a 3DS then I'd get Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Starfox 64, Zelda, Resident Evil: Revelations (w/the Circle Pro Pad) & possibly Kid Icarus. While you're at it, get one of those aftermarket grips that has a built-in rechargeable battery since I hear the battery life isn't too long, LOL!

FWIW, they had the lowest price regardless of locally & online (even after factoring local tax) for the Intel i7 cpu I was looking for & a notebook a homie bought. So yeah, they have good prices just depending on what you're looking for.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled. I'm just surprised they value it so high, considering it can be bought so cheaply else where.
