[SIZE=+1]Three important notes[/SIZE] (please read these before posting questions):

[SIZE=+1]1)[/SIZE] Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

[SIZE=+1]2)[/SIZE] Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: chttp://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way).

Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

I found Mass Effect PH (With the DLC on sale), and AC/DC on clearance for 10 :D. Pretty good finds. They also had a few other games on clearance, but the majority of them were extremely old.

Depending on the kmart, this could take an hour, so I can appreciate the question. Unfortunately I don't have the answer and there's no scanners at the local kmart now either.

This x 1000. Honestly, I don't get what the deal is with people not being patient and persistent enough to ask for a price check on an item and taking the time to wait for the cashier to do so.

It answers your question and you don't end up looking like a Lazy Ass Gamer to those of us who actually do take the time to WAIT for someone to price check stuff for you.

And bohunk, Folklore should've been down to $1.97 at Sears by now. So either your Sears marked it back up for the holidays or just never did the updates to knock the price down to where it should be by now.

I think I had Folklore checked at my one local Kmart with it in stock and it was either $19.99 or full MSRP. I forget which though.
 
If your Kmart has no scanner it sometimes can take a while to get an employee to unlock the case and scan the game, provided they want to do that. Its not going to be worth 30 min or more of your time unless the game is super cheap. Some employees will give you the "its the sticker price" line and won't bend on that. If your kmart has a scanner and the game is behind glass then print a barcode and scan it at the self scanners.

My kmart is down to like 2 self scanners and they used to have 5 or more, I suspect the scanners just break and they don't bother replacing them because it costs the company money to do that.

If my kmart got rid of the scanners I would just take a giant cartload of merchandise I was interested in to the register and make them price check every single item (I would just tell them I know prices tend to vary from the sticker price in this store), while telling them the item was not cheap enough for me to buy it yet as I find out each price.
 
Thing is, if it's something you really want, it's well worth the time and effort to wait for it to get price checked.

If the employee gives you guff about 'it's sticker price', that's when I ask for the manager on duty, which shuts them up and gets them to do their fuckin' job like they're supposed to.

If you're too impatient to take however long it takes to get stuff checked and get what you want for the price you want then you deserve to pay MSRP.

My kmart still had both versions at $19.99, probably not updated at my local one.
 
Is mass effect supposed to be really cheap at Kmart? I ask because its not on the first page, and they were like 5 bucks at target and Toys R Us, but I missed out on both of those.

If they pull the "sticker says $59.99" crap, you can just tell them you saw it at another Kmart for whatever price you know it to be reduced to or on sale for. At least, that's what I've done.

I'd definitely pick up both of those games for $9.99, especially if I could get the PS3 version of Madagascar Kartz. It is actually supposed to be a decent game, considering ;). There's a couple cool cashiers at my local Kmart stores, but the one older guy is one of the 'it's sticker price' people. I admit that I've been wrong before when having him check games, but all you can do if you're wrong on which games are and aren't clearance price is be nice about it and thank them.

I feel that at least if I thank them after checking something for me, they have little reason to be snippy about it. That is unless they were on their way to the bathroom or something when I bugged them for a price check.

Then even I would be like "WHAT!?!?!?!".:lol:
 
I would wait if it was something I really wanted, however usually when I browse the racks I don't see anything I really, really want. The selection of games in my area is just.. paltry.

It would probably be something that was 5$ that I wanted to try out, and if its going to take 30-40 min to get a clerk out to open the case I would probably leave, although I might wait just to see the clerks face when they ring up the game especially if I had previously checked the price with the barcode scanner.

They shouldn't be snippy, its their job to help the customer, and they really should honor the customer's request. Its a simple request, its not like your asking them to search the back for you.
 
I've asked that much of them before though too, Sara. Some of the employees look at you like you're nuts when you ask them to check the back, but that's how I managed to grab the HD-DVD drives for the 360 a year or two ago. They were stashed in the back and covered in dust when they brought them out.
 
just picked up Mass Effect Platinum Hits (new style cover) for $9.99. They still had a few left too. Can someone confirm that the Bonus Content on this would be the same as on the older style? I realize that might be a rather silly question - just want to make sure before I crack it open and then slap my forehead because it's not....

I saw a few copies of Fracture for 9.99, and a bunch of old sports games for 5 dollars or less. Didnt get anything aside from ME2 though, K-Marts seems so cleaned out.

If you were able to actually find one at a store, it will show up on their computer as "Check Price" or something like that. Stores, as well as their employees, are instructed to not sell to customers if this is prompted. If they do sell the item at anything other than the stickered price (usually MSRP (especially if you were able to find it still)) their job is forfeited.

Going through all the effort, and losing someone their job (through their own stupidity), while still being lucky enough to actually find one...Isn't worth the money saved.

Whatever. I think it started its declined into penny-dom about a year ago.
 
When I go to Kmart, for about two years now, I never see anything on clearance. All the games are highly overpriced and in a glass case. Are the sticker prices wrong or something? I want to know if I'm missing out, or if the sticker price is actually right.
 
I haven't been to Kmart in quite a while it seems. My girlfriend has been looking for a cheap RB 360 drum set and we never can find a cheap copy. Whenever there are deals there are none in our area. While wondering a Kmart after dinner I saw a bunch of Rock Revolution Kits and she was like, man I will never ever get a Drum Set. I walk over to the other aisle and see 4 360 Drum Sets! There was no price but the employee told us that they were only $6.99 (I have not been keeping up with this thread as of late)

I felt terrible but we bought three. I am not trying to hoard them, but I have been looking for cheap ones for over a year now and finally found them. One was for my GF, one was for myself and the other is for a buddy of mine. So there is still one left, plus there were some PS3 ones. This was in Lisle, Illinois off of Ogden, but the cheap dollar theater.

If you find anything in the cases that is on the list in the first post or any of the subsequent lists that have been posted on various pages in this thread, HAVE IT PRICE CHECKED!!!!

I cannot stress that enough, as the one Kmart around here used to ALWAYS have stuff marked MSRP or marked with stickers 2-3 or more drops behind. But as long as the price updates have been done at your store(s) the items SHOULD ring up as listed in this thread.

However, that is where the YMMV(your mileage may vary, meaning it may or may not be the same price at your store)pricing comes into play.

But if you don't get it price checked, you'll never know.

That's how I've found some of my best deals(120gb HDD back in August for $15, PSone/LCD screen combo for $10 a couple of years ago, HD-DVD drives for 360 for $7-12 each).

So, I know a few years back I always checked Ninety Nine Nights to see if it dropped. Every time I checked it never did. It is still in all of my Kmarts mixed in with all brand new games.

Has it dropped in price or is it still MSRP?

I did just that, but still no good. The MSRP price still rang up as it is even if they have been marked as being on clearance in this thread :cry:
