[SIZE=+1]Three important notes[/SIZE] (please read these before posting questions):

[SIZE=+1]1)[/SIZE] Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

[SIZE=+1]2)[/SIZE] Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: chttp://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way).

Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

Once you bought it, you're done with K-mart clearance holiday stuff. I know this from buying some Christmas lights last year at half off which dropped to 75% soon after. They would not budge on allowing a return or doing a price adjustment.

You can price adjust within 7 days if the price drops. So if the the trees go 90% off on Thursday (like the winter clothes went +40 off on Thursday) you can get a price adjustment.

It's a short price adjustment window but you never know when certain things drop.
 
My mileage certainly varies at my two local Kmart stores.

One store I don't get at all... They have quite a collection of *older* games that are all still stickered a full $59.99. I've had them price checked, and they ring up for that much too. Example: Viking for 360, $60, when it can be had for $20 new anywhere else, given you can still find a new copy. They had tons of Two Words copies, still $60, etc... the list goes on and on really. There's rarely a game there not $60.

Meanwhile, my other store rarely stickers any of their games, except when there is a significant price drop or if it's on clearance. Otherwise the only pricing that can be seen are the games hanging under price tags. Their game selection is much different, a lot of them more recent titles, nothing way old or way too expensive for its age like the other store.


So whats up with some Kmart stores holding on to really old games full price and never putting them on clearance?

I know how you feel. I don't understand this myself. One of my local stores has lots of older games mixed in with newer stuff, still full price. Ninety Nine Nights is a rare find, at least new these days, so why has it never been put on clearance, or at least seen a price drop at Kmart?

I just bought a Sanus Surge and screen cleaner kit for 10 marked down from 12.99. Is this the same item you are referring to here?
 
I was at a different kmart this weekend and there were several copies of Pikmin Wii ringing up for 14.97 still. They also had quite a few GBA games left (all one game, some Tony Hawk game) and the toy department was filled with so much stuff I couldn't even get through it all, most of it looked like junk though. This store like the one closest to me also had tons of summer clothes clearance left.

Clothes are cheap in Sears and Kmart now so now is the time to get anything if you need something, an extra 40% off doesn't come up too often and you know the prices will go right back to the standard clearance prices after the sale ends.
 
Went into one of my local Kmarts looking for the 15in Coby. Wasn't able to find it but I was able to pick up a copy of LBP for $10. It is weird as I have checked that store probably 3 times after the initial time the games were marked down, not to mention another CAG.

Oh ok I see now. I have a feeling my Kmart may be a goldmine, because NO ONE ever buys any of their games. Hardly anyone even shops there as it is, way down hill and the only one around here not to shut down in the last 3 years. They always have a huge supply of basically every title and they all have the original price tags on them. I'll report back tomorrow
 
I bought my own :360: Rock Band Drum Set today for $6.99. I'm just glad the price on it wasn't marked or someone else probably would've gotten to it before I did. It was the last one, 360 or PS3, at that Kmart.

How much longer is the extra 40% going on for? Is it for all clearance apparel, men's and women's?
 
I work at Sears and the system is similar. There are some price changes that roll in from a corporate level. Those go into the system at a given time and are usually sales. Typically clearance comes in on a separate list. I don't work in the office so I could be a little off, but it was explained to me like this. The manager has discretion to alter the clearance prices or prevent clearance. Usually however they don't bother and just put the list through as is. If a store doesn't have certain items marked down then it means the manager of that area either didn't have enough on hand to merit dealing with the list or has neglected to put it through for whatever reason.
 
40% is all clearance clothing for all people, even lands end because my mom got a lands end shirt for 40% off the pink sticker price. I am not sure how long it will last but probably till at least this Saturday when the ads change on Sunday.

From my experience with clothing at Kmart and Sears when the sale goes off the prices go right back to what is on the tag, then you have to wait for additional drops and another 40% off sale to get cheap stuff so if you need stuff its best to get it now before it gets picked over and there is nothing left.

Christmas Trees and other holiday items are now 90% off.

The Rockband Drum Sets $6.99 are actually restocks and not just based off of existing clearance merchandise. (I've seen them unload off a incoming warehouse truck). So you have your store clerk check the electronics cage in the back of the store.
 
Went ahead and snagged the last copy of Infinite Undiscovery for $20.00

Anyone know how good of a find Final Fantasy XII PS2 black label for $20.00 is? Thought about getting that one as well. I know used is half that, but new I'm thinking might be kind of a rarity.
 
My local Kmart has Metal Gear Solid still at 59 bucks. It scans at that! Some of you guys are very lucky that your store keeps up with things.

The copies are before it went greatest hit, so you know they've been there a while. I tried to explain to the employee that they will never sell at that, but he didn't care.

No, Metal GEar Solid 4. It's in a red box now but the copies they have are in clear boxes from the initial run, and still at the initial MSRP.

It's sad when a store is clueless like that. They probably have 20 copies of it there and wonder why their games aren't selling. The employee was totally clueless about it and didn't seem to care if Kmart went out of business much less what a game should cost.

This is what I've been trying to figure out.

Is it just individual stores that refuse to mark down or put on clearance ancient items, or is it just that so few of the stores actually have them in stock that they don't bother discounting or clearing them on a chain-wide scale?
 
grabbed two Rock Band drum sets - were plenty more. Might have to ask around to see if anyone i know needs.

Grabbed a leather jacket and sweater for $50 while i was there. w00t

I'm not sure now. The employee swears that it's automatic from corporate. I don't see how something like that could be missed on a national level though. Someone would have made enough fuss by now to bring it to their attention. It almost certainly has to be store level.

I know at Sears percentage off sales are automatic and mark downs are manually created from a list given by corporate. The price in the main system will reflect the new MSRP as cost but the current price won't go down until the store allows it. Mark down is the generic term for price changes by the way which includes when the price goes up. New employees always argue that point until they give up logic.

Went again tonight, Xmas candy is finally at 75% off with bags of hershey's kisses left for .74, also m&m's in the holiday bag for .74. You can use the kisses to make those cookies with the kiss in them however I don't think anyone here is going to mind the Xmas foil for that price, its still the same product inside. Lots of other cheap things on the xmas pile, tablecloths for .15. I also bought a mp3 speaker case for 2.49 and some pokemon plush toys for 2.40. These are all good deals. The speaker case actually sounds good especially for the price.

Wanted the hoodie with the headphones attached for 11.99 after 40% off however the whole thing was shedding all over my clothes, very annoying so I didn't buy it. It was so cheaply made it wasn't even funny.
 
I started reading the back of the receipt and it does say you have 7 days for a price adjustment but then it says "price adjustments will not be given on holiday merchandise or merchandise that is on clearance"

Sounds like a very YMMV thing. The store we bought the tree at is on the way home from work so it can't hurt to try.
 
Good to hear candy is 75% off. I would have preferred 90% but candy for a holiday hasn't gotten to 90% since Halloween 2007 and was always at 50% off I think. Target is testing the same thing now in some stores where candy is one price level behind general merchandise. Like when Halloween was 75%, Candy was only 50%.
 
I know it´s been post before but tgoday I found a black sofa sleeper which was tagged for 349.99 but scanned CHECK SHELF FOR PRICING.

Now it is probably a no go but how would I go to try and buy it and get a deal on it before getting a ¨We cant sell it¨ answer?
 
Ask to speak to the manager and say you know it was on clearance and the last selling price was $34.99 (not 100% sure on that but most items go to 90% off before going out of the systems), chances are they are going to say the price is the sticker price or refuse to sell it.

You aren't going to stop OT stuff by yourself. Also, mentioning how you feel about OT stuff has only added to the clutter problem. It is best just to accept that people are going to talk about other things from time to time.

Incorrect. This is the Kmart clearance thread within the video game deals subforum. There are other boards for non-video game deals. Hopefully we can all be a little more disciplined so we don't have to waste moderator time to clean up the thread.

But my point still stands, this is the "video game deals" sub-forum, indicating that all posts relate to video game deals. There is another forum called "Other deals and requests - Post and request deals that are not video game related." Plenty of room there for discussion of candy on clearance at Kmart.

I have read through the initial posts of this thread, and still have not found answers specific to some of my questions... this may be due to the fact that the people who have those answers, are unable to respond due to the amount of candy and sofa posts bumping out any discussion relative to video games.

If this truly is the anything goes Kmart deals thread, then the initial post should clearly indicate that, and the topic should be moved.
 
Video game clearance is at a dry spell right now, at least here. The electronics department has a lot less merchandise than it used to have. Its just really cleaned out here and there are only a handful of items that are marked down here, and it would be pretty hard to have a discussion about those. The real game clearances seem to happen most at the end of a generation, and we aren't quite there yet.

Honestly at Kmart the whole store is a picking ground of deals waiting to happen regardless of what department you shop in provided you are not too lazy to take the items you want and scan them to see the real price. People here need other stuff than games too. If we can help someone get a sofa, TV or sweatshirt for dirt cheap then why not.

Candy is priced ridiculously on the so called clearances, though I think some things may have been more than 75% off but I don't know what Kmart originally charges for those items. Candy is like 30% off when the rest of the merchandise is 75% off. This seems to be at every store now, although its better for me actually because I just have to wait a little longer for the candy to go cheaper since less people are buying it if its not priced at the same % off as holiday merchandise. People are just going for the cheaper stuff and leaving the candy. Helps that at my store there was one tiny sign that said Christmas Candy 75% off and many larger signs that said Christmas Candy 35% off. There was a whole bin of hershey's kisses left at my store, and a lot of other kinds of cheap candy that I wouldn't buy.

Oh I think the holiday beauty baskets are only something like 35% off, the pre-wrapped gifts were 9.99 but after 40% off clearance they were 5.99. Still not cheap enough but I might consider picking up a couple of the things there for $2-3 each there is a lot left and 5 customers in my store each time I go in so I can afford to wait. I don't even know how kmart stays afloat in my area, people aren't even coming into the store for the sale items in the Sunday ad anymore. Plenty of people shopping at Target and Walmart though (where the prices for clearance merchandise are significantly higher and move too fast for me to even get anything at a decent price).
 
What the fuck ever bojay. I've seen people talking about toys in the Target thread, and the person who posts the game clearances in here, also posts other information on electronics, which is certainly appreciated.
 
I find this thread very videogame related, I like to play Games in my sofa, eating candy between loading screens dressed like clearance santa.

I'm here for video games. But if something else is on clearance, I am not going to bitch about hearing about it. Cause I might actually want some candy at 75% off. And if I don't, it takes me 2 secs to skim that post.

Managed to pick up a new rock band drum set for 7 bucks... My Kmart had a shelfload of them... but did not have them priced... so they will probably sit there for a while.. haha
 
I would like to get Rock Band for my 360, and these drums are super cheap so would be a cheap piecemeal way to build up a RB set, but I'd much rather have RB2 wireless drums. Hmm. Or are the RB1 360 drums wireless? They weren't on my PS2.

OK, I'm a little confused on the RB drums. Is it the RB1 drum set everyone is getting now for $7? Because for some reason I have those as $3 in the OP which means they must have been that price at some point. If so, why is everyone so excited about them being $7 now? If it was the RB2 drums (which are wireless while the RB1 drums are not), then, yeah, that would be cool.

They were restocked and went from 1 Cent to 6.99. They are actually being restocked via distribution and not something getting dusty from the shelf.
