Ah boo, missed out on the Sports Champions / Deadmund's bundle as well. I didn't see it in the OP, because it wasn't a part of the weekly update? Guessing it was a stealth sale?

When it comes to the Vita, I love the thing, but Sony just doesn't seem to care about it, a price drop to $200 should have happened last year (they still would have made a profit off it), and all memory card prices cut in half. Even though I own a Vita, from the Amazon super awesome Black Friday deal, its still frustrating to see Sony simply not give a damn about their own handheld with so much potential. :(
I didn't know you were so knowledgeable about business. What Fortune 500 company do you run?

In terms of Hydrophobia ownership, we are the best since we didn't pay any money to own it.

As a heads-up to everyone, the LBP sale doesn't end this week, so you don't need to rush to buy it before the store updates today.
But if plus runs out you won't own it anymore. Anyone that pays the 60 cents will continue to own it regardless. Thus they are the best.

that's my plan at the moment. Hoping for a $199 bundle with a 8-16GB memory card, as I already have more than enough games thanks to PS+. That is a killer deal you got, no doubt about it :D
Yeah, I'm hoping there are some good deals on one as well. By that time, I'll have a nice little backlog of games from PS+, if so.

Looks like Escape Plan is going to be one of those games I can only play in short, concentrated bursts. The back touchpad should just be banned from all future development. That said, I'm loving the humor and charm. The canned laughter, sound effects and character animations really are a feast for the senses. Definitely recommend at its current price. Still not convinced on hyrdophobia and fat princess.

Here's my PS+ Preview video for Gods Eater Burst. I'm recording some more videos of some of the games on sale right now (Mushroom Wars/Digger HD from the Creat Studios bundle and Hydrophobia). I also wanted to do a Hotline Miami, but it threatens me with permanent disabling of the Cross Save feature if I don't get on PSN when first playing it so I'm waiting for the maintenance to be over first.

Enjoying GEB's take on the Monster Hunter formula. Pro tip for everyone: Camera is the d-pad which can be bound to the right stick by the "PSP wrapper", works perfectly.

That's hella weird about the cross save thing, wonder why on earth they would have done it that way. Is it every time you start the game or just that very first time?

I think it's just the first time, so it coming out just before the maintenance downtime makes it more of an issue than it normally would be.

Hopefully, though that would still be awful if you downloaded it and immediately left on vacation or something. I just can't even get my head around the justification for it; not like your active systems aren't all tied to your account. I'm probably thinking way too hard about some middle managers brilliant idea.

Is there any workaround in the Vita settings that allow me to stop a game download from pausing automatically? After 10 minutes, the Vita enters standby mode and all downloads automatically stop. When I went into settings, I only found a way to change the standby mode to a shorter time period with no option to disable standby mode altogether. This is really frustrating. Virtue's Last Reward hasn't even finished dl-ing since last night because of this stop and go nonsense!

Is that a normal problem? Haven't encountered that myself, in fact queued up like 12GB of download the other day hit the power button and came back later to everything being done.

I have this exact same issue. It's extremely obnoxious. I've read that letting it go into standby itself instead of forcing it into standby will keep the download running. I've also heard the download will keep running if you keep the Vita plugged in, but so far it seems like I'm having issued with everything.

The download should keep going if it enters standby. Make sure you have the use Wi-Fi in Power Save Mode option on under Power Save settings.

It should also be noted that PSN's been down for maintenance for about the past seven hours.

Hmm! It shouldn't do that. If your Vita goes into standby mode on its own, the system will still continue to download all games on your dl list. Try plugging the Vita in to see if it's still experiencing the same issue.

Edit: Frisky and I were responding to your post at the same time. But Frisky is right. It's definitely the store undergoing maintenance right now. It will be done by 9:30pm PT.

I'll check that setting on my Vita as soon as I get home.

I wonder if they're still planning to post the weekly update blog? I'm sure Frisky has caught all the new deals for the week, but I always like to browse through it and see what's all new.

Yep, I've done that. It still pauses when it automatically goes into standby. I've had this problem from the start so I didn't even realize that my unit wasn't acting properly. This is the white assassin's creed unit from black friday.

Mine does it, too (last night, in fact). Seems to be random. Most of the time, if I just let it go into standby on its own that seems to prevent the d/l from hanging up. Would love a definitive fix for this.

EDIT: Soooo, I've decided I'm going to play VLR first and then 999...just to spite everyone here.

Bad idea, though I do like 999 more than VLR.

need advice... hotline miami or terrarria?  for vita playing.

taking into account terraria is $5 more... and out longer, so could go on sale sooner.

Terraria Vita isn't out yet. The Terraria on PSN is only for PS3.

That being said, I sunk about 30 hours into Terraria without blinking an eye. I actually like it more than Minecraft.

The back touchpad ruined Escape Plan for me. It's so cumbersome to touch the back, front, and still hold the Vita and be able to push buttons.

well, that solved that. thanks! now i just need to decide if my vita backlog needs another game. i'm still playing men's room mayhem.

i can't frickin' believe they made a game about a men's room, where i'm rabidly cleaning toilets for bonus points... and it's ridiculously fun (in a flight control sort of way, but different).

I am getting so sick of my Vita. Not the games, not the hardware, just the management of space.

I bought Escape Plan which comes out to 800 something MB. I download it on my PS3 and then hook my Vita up to the my PS3 to transfer the game over and then before it starts copying the Vita pops up with a prompt that says 'Downloading The Application Update File' which comes out to nearly 1.5gb. What the hell?

What does this mean? Is it saying there is a update to Escape Plan that is nearly double the size of the actual game? Or what? Does it do this if you download the file on the Vita itself?

I spent $150 on a used Vita and $100 on a 32gb card and the card is almost full already. You know it's bad when you spend nearly the same amount on a memory card that you do a console.

Yes, that's how big the update is for Escape Plan. They've done a few big updates to add new content, DLC content, and fix and add a lot of new features to the game (1.04, 1.03, 1.02, 1.01).

I think Sony is going to move a lot of Vitas when the PS4 becomes a mainstream entertainment system.  And when all those new Vita owners finally realise that they need to upgrade to a 32 GB card and how expensive it is, hopefully they will make enough noise for Sony to cave in and lower the price of the 32 GB cards, even if just a little bit.  They also need to release a bigger card.

Also I just heard that Sony will be releasing a demo of Grand Turismo 6 on July 2nd.

Damn. :(

Oh well, I guess Escape Plan will sit on my PS3's HD until I finish up some Vita games I'm wiling to delete to make space for it.

Thanks for the response.

And to think I haven't even downloaded Zero Escape yet. /sigh

I would go the other way actually. Hotline Miami was a top gaming experience of the last few years for me, Terraria while interesting never really felt half as engaging as Minecraft (sorry but had to make that rough comparison). Both great games and there is a lot of time to be sunk into Terraria if it hooks you.

does anyone know if Fist Full of Cake works on the vita?
I believe it won't, it doesn't say Vita on the web store page where the games that should do.

My only real annoyance with PSN updates to games is that they never recompile the game to download the most current version. At this point, I think Escape Plan has been out long enough that the version you download when you purchase it should be 1.04, and likewise for other games. Especially when it's for bug fixes and not just to support DLC/new content/etc., would it really be that hard to do?

I believe the reason is that the publishers or developers have to foot the bandwidth costs for everything downloaded in the store (also why there aren't demos for every game) whereas patches are just a one time fee. I think that's why most DLC purchases are 100 kb and you download the content through an update.

Not really if they allow you to transfer save data from a ps4 to a vita they would say you have 500GB on storage on the ps4 so just download the games into the PS4 and then transfer them to the vita and back and fortth. no reason to have a bigger vita card or a price drop (knowing sonY)

I'm not ususally super critical of games but what exactly is the appeal of Hotline Miami? It's seems everyone is super excitied. I watched a quick gameplay video on youtube and it looks like jank shit. What am I missing here?

They've actually been doing that lately for a bunch of older games, which surprised me when I had to redownload a bunch of games a few months ago and some of the more notoriously bad games had no updates to download when I started them up.

It's sort of an action-stealth-puzzle game where you're tasked with figuring out how to kill everybody in a level. The music and visual style all adds to this great atmosphere of cocaine-infused 80s-era hyperviolent fever dream that gets to be a very tense experience that really gets my blood rushing because it's a one-hit kill if you fuck up while trying to string kills together for point bonuses. The weapon choice is important since guns are loud enough to bring nearby enemies to you while melee lets you get around more easily while putting you at more risk of getting killed by other enemies with melee weapons. I wouldn't say it's janky at all once you get used to the controls, as it uses sort of a dual-stick shooter-style of control without the always-on style of shooting.

Not to spam, but what's the general consensus of Escape Plan on the Vita, especially after the updates. I'm having trouble finding informative reviews on this one.

Spot on. To build on the feeling of the game, which is a huge component of it, think of being in that cocaine-strung 80's dance club and you've just taken an adrenaline needle to the chest.

I'm not ususally super critical of games but what exactly is the appeal of Hotline Miami? It's seems everyone is super excitied. I watched a quick gameplay video on youtube and it looks like jank shit. What am I missing here?
It's one of those things that you really have to play to get and only translates so well to a spectator. It's a reflex puzzle game not an action shooter and plays like Super Meat Boy where it's about trial, error, precision and rhythm. The graphics are intentionally stylized to be harsh and almost bad but are really a work of art at the same time. You might not like it though, there's not a lot of middle ground here. It's incredibly brutal and actually encourages a lot of thought and conflicted emotion if you actually pay attention to the game but it doesn't go out of it's way to make you pay attention either. Still best game I played last year and I believe someone mentioned there's a demo so at least give that a try.

So Hotline Miami is a cross buy right?  So If I buy the Vita version I'll get the PS3 version as well?  They are seperated in the store when I looked yesterday is why I ask.

Yep, it's cross-buy so you'll get both PS3 and Vita versions. For whatever reason the store has separated into different categories a lot of these cross-buy games recently, which is strange since it seems like something you'd want to promote.

Thank you for the detailed summary. I'll give the demo a try.

Please excuse me if this is a bad place to ask.

I'm considering getting a Vita along with PS+, but one thing I haven't been able definitively figure out. Will I be able to transfer games and saves back and forth between my Mac and Vita, so I don't have to re download things all the time? That would make a big difference.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

With PS+ you can upload your saves to the cloud. Not sure about to a mac, but I would recommend checking what works with the MediaGO program.
