The game would be too hardcore and unplayable otherwise.

Well that's great! I really had some bad misinformation then (and was spreading it further). No worries about arguing - what I heard was obviously wrong & I appreciate you correcting me on it (seriously). Now maybe I will fire it up sooner rather than later.

It's a really weird, scary situation where we don't live near each other anymore but there's always been a mind-blowing chemistry. So we'll talk online a lot for a while, then it'll get to be too much and someone stops. To my credit, I've been engaged with a ring and all, been on a few dates after dumping my ex-fiancee who couldn't be bothered to actually fucking move in with me before we got married, had lots of meaningless sex, kissed ONE guy, and turned down a handful of relationships from women I friendzoned since I first felt this way about her four years ago. The feels are nothing new, but it would be nice to just get married or something already.

My condolences dude. I actually can relate to that a [customspoiler=little bit.] That girl I have the marriage pact with is someone I always find myself attracted to in between relationships because of that amazing chemistry. She's been taken since I was with my second to last ex though, so I know I missed my chance. They've been engaged for at least 2 or so years (I think they really jumped the gun on it), and almost had a baby together. The worst part is their relationship is really rocky sometimes, so there's always that slight chance, but it never comes. I think I've known her for 4 years too, she's my best friend/the friend I've had the longest by a mile. And she's nuts about the Sims. Eerie. [/customspoiler]

Sims is such a girl game, hahaha. I feel for you right back on that note. The same friend actually gave me the best advice I've ever heard on the subject when my ex-fiancee tried to get back with me. She says that women are really stupid when it comes to knowing what they want; they feel a hundred different emotions at once and don't know what to act on, so they fall back to the safety zone. Let them fall madly in love with you first, because that's the only way it'll ever be genuine. And never be a crutch.

I agree, they are really stupid. I very blatantly explain to people that there's no point in it because there's no physical contact. Anyone can write something romantic, but how are you going to feel around that person when you first meet? 93% of all communication is body language, and basing love on that 7% or slightly higher that you might get in Skype isn't good enough. Coincidentally, my friend's current relationship started on a blog...

 
Not sure if I agree with that, I'm just mad cause she e-dumped me. To tell the truth she didn't even tell me, she disappeared. I found out what happened later by buggin her friend on Myspace.

I think the gist is that words are basically meaningless in our generation. People don't have to be honest online. Not proud to say that I e-dated four girls at the same time in high school, and two of them were related. Then I found an IRL girlfriend that I went to school with and just stopped talking to the others. =\ But it took me a while to develop morals, so...

Yeah, you always gotta watch out for people too close to their ex. That happened to me with a girl once, but we weren't dating.

What's worse is she might have made the whole proposal thing up. You can never be too sure.

The part of me who's had three multiyear online relationships which ended up in successful meets, and cohabitation twice, wants to say that online relationships can work. However, the part of me that's been dumped all three times and is now in a legal battle with one of those exs over our newborn child wants to say that it's not worth it.

Basically, the best advice I can give you is to only put yourself through it if:

A) You're 100% positive the girl's worth it, and you're absolutely serious

B) You're relatively young (as these kind of relationships take a decent amount of time to even get off the ground).

C) It's semi-realistic to think you might end up together (the closer you are in distance, the more realistic it is).

I could probably write a book on my experiences.

That's always the worst. Usually the older you get, the less you have to worry about someone just "disappearing", but it happened to me when I was 14, and it happened to me just a few days ago. Sucks.

I don't completely agree with this. There's never been a time I've met someone off the net that I didn't have chemistry with the same exact way I did on the net. Generally, if you're both willing to go to certain lengths to meet, and are able to be patient enough to stick together that long, it's the real deal.

That said, no online relationship should be without audio interaction. Speech patterns also communicate a lot of "body language", so it brings the interaction closer to a physical one than just text would. Camming also really helps, but audio is a must.

On a completely unrelated note, apparently the developers for the Early Access game Monsters and Munitions fell off the face of the planet and haven't been heard from in months so people complained and Valve yanked the game from being sold. When people then wrote in and asked for refunds the ever so helpful Steam support cited their CYA clause "Section 3 of the Steam Subscriber Agreement" that states Early Access games may or may not change significantly over the course of development...Steam support does not provide support for Early Access titles. Please contact the developers directly for any issues you encounter which is flowerybullshitese for You're SOL. Sucks to be you.

No I didn't call a brick and mortar store at all. The 1 888 best buy number I listed is for the online CS for bestbuy. You are able to place orders through them (You can pricematch places like amazon, and have them shipped to you ETC.
Merely call in (Made the instructions exact and pretty detailed, overly so), and them merely had them honor THIS page http://www.bestbuy.com/site/null/save-on-diablo-iii-with-expansion/pcmcat330000050005.c?id=pcmcat330000050005

That is listed on each of the two part's "Special offers".
The base game being $20, means that "Save $20" would make it free. So you end up paying for RoS with the base game free.

This is just a guess, but might be an error in that DIII is supposed to be $19.99 only if you buy the expansion and they accidentally made it $19.99 for everyone. So if that's the case this might get fixed and people who want to jump on it should do so ASAP.

Wired network > wireless network

There are a lot of factors that affects the speed when it comes to wireless, the location, router, Wi-Fi channel etc. This is why I wired my house with a few ethernet wall ports at different locations so I can maintain my maximum speed even when my laptop is far away from the main router. If speed is your priority, those extenders won't improve it much.

The private server should be dead now :( Which sucked because PvE is much better than PvP though you can usually find a server empty enough to not run into someone else.

I call bullshit on you being able to use guns enough in the limited time you've played Infestation on public servers to make an informed comparison. Not only are guns scarce, ammo is even scarcer. 3 shots of a gun (which if you want to survive you only use as a last resort) doesn't give a good comparison to SoD where they just hand you the things and let you go crazy with them. The gunplay is not bad in Infestation.

That's kind of my thinking as well, or else their site would deduct another $20 once you put both in the cart, but it doesn't. I just can't see them giving away the base for nothing and the offer doesn't say get Diablo III free with purchase of RoS, it says get $20 off when you buy both. But hey if someone can get them to do it that's a great price for both.

*Edited to add: If you click through to the offer details it does say "May not be valid in combination with other offers." which is vague but does give them some CYA wiggle room if whoever you get really doesn't want to do it. *shrug*

Well the thing is that it, like I said, is probably a page from last week, that while the deal should still be dead, it is still listed under the special offers, and has the page stating $20 off, so they put the game on sale, and killed the old "deal" but left the page. This allows you to call in and get someone who isn't aware of that fact. $20 off of $19.99 would make it free, which you just need to point out.

"Any other offers" doesn't apply to the price of the game.

The game is $20, when bought with RoS it should take $20 off as the page states, (although it is probably from last week, sunday/new set of ads/sales etc)

Just one of the few times one of those promos is followed by a sale on the game (when the promo page is still on the site).

 
It's a really weird, scary situation where we don't live near each other anymore but there's always been a mind-blowing chemistry. So we'll talk online a lot for a while, then it'll get to be too much and someone stops. To my credit, I've been engaged with a ring and all, been on a few dates after dumping my ex-fiancee who couldn't be bothered to actually fucking move in with me before we got married, had lots of meaningless sex, kissed ONE guy, and turned down a handful of relationships from women I friendzoned since I first felt this way about her four years ago. The feels are nothing new, but it would be nice to just get married or something already.

They arent stupid in the sense that they're meaningless, but they're seriously difficult to maintain unless both parties are devoted and serious enough to make things happen in the real world at some point soon. I just got out of a two year, yes TWO YEAR online relationship with a girl in Australia. We talked on the phone almost every night, would cam on Skype, it was serious. But sluts are gonna slut and she got drunk and gave out some blowjobs and had a pregnancy scare a month later while losing her virginity to a dude she knew for all of two hours, so what's a guy to do.

Currently I'm being a bit amoral by getting close with a couple girls who live on neighboring islands. Honestly, people on Maui SUCK. Look at me.

I didn't say it was terrible, but I still don't think its as good as it is in SoD. From our talks about SoD, you didn't play very far yourself. Ammo can be fairly scarce in SoD depending on how you handle things and set up outposts. Backpacks hold limited items and weight, and you can't stack ammo very high per backpack slot. When a horde comes down on you and you start needing to shoot, you will burn through ammo so fast it's crazy. Not to mention that gun use can sometimes spell yoir fate in SoD, as certain powerful guns make a lot of noise, and draw MORE zombies to your position. That's how I got my one and only death in my game, when an underequipped survivor with low HP and low skills got jumped by a feral close to base. Couldn't escape, had to try to shoot my way out with a slow loading gun I didnt expect to use, and the gunfire drew too big of a horde combined with the feral, and munch munch, there's the death acheivement.

I don't mean any offense to Infestation, but it's really not fair to compare the two games to be honest.

For heavy traffic, you'd want to look into a dual radio repeater. Though I agree with others that wired is the way to go. The only devices that I use wireless for are devices that don't have ethernet ports.

Just because there's a new version doesn't mean the old version is now worthless and/or substandard. (And really the most recent news on the Last Light store page is a notice of the new release... Hardly scamming someone when it's there in plain as day.)

Could be 5 dollars, no doubting that. but its never been lower... Its been this price before but that was without all the DLC.

Really its not a bad deal for someone interested in the game whose PC sucks a bit too much to run redux... (Like me.)

I don't think most people read those things honestly. I think the masses will just see cheap game and not realize there's a new improved uber deluxe version that you have to pay for separately coming out soon. To me this is more or less like a game going on sale just before they know it's coming out in a bundle. A last ditch attempt to make some extra money before putting the game on sale will be pretty much worthless.

Then again Stardock still keeps putting Fallen Enchantress on sale even though Legendary Heroes is out so who knows maybe they'll find some more clueless people to pawn customers to sell those old versions to even after the new ones come out.
