Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

Sadly, Blockbuster has cut down it's maximum trade-in value from $33-$35 to $25 or so and dropped all other values along with it. So welcome to the new world of Blockbuster featuring Gamestop trade-in prices (but without the Edge card and frequent trade-in deals to make it more appealing). Continue on if you feel like there is any need...

ALERT: More POG games (disc-only used games sold for $9.99) sighted at stores week of Nov 9th
Many CAGs have reported finding new shipments of POG games (prepacked previously owned games) showing up on Nov 10th-12th. This is YMMV as many stores will not get them. But if they do, they are usually in clear cases, disc-only, and are priced at $9.99. Some notables include Call of Duty World at War, CoD Modern Warfare, Halo 3, Halo Wars, etc. It appears to be all 360 games this time. These are disc-only refurbs but are usually in excellent shape. Note that these all have the same barcode that rings up $9.99 - if you find the same games with regular cover art and specific bar codes for that used game, then they are not part of this POG stock and will be regular prices (generally way over $9.99 for the newer titles).

ALERT: B1G1 NOW OVER (but possibly returning in late November)
The latest Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale on games $14.99 has ended. The following list of $14.99 and under used games will be maintained for the next sale though. It seems highly likely from various reports that a B1G1 sale will be returning some time in late November. Some are even a decent buy without the B1G1 sale:

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas 2007 and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Dec 2008) most Blockbuster stores are selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, Wii's, and DS's. They do not sell PSP's. However, they have also started selling other electronics including Blu-ray players, portable DVD players, and digital picture frames. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, most regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Featured Preorders
Most Blockbuster stores (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are featuring several games for preorder. $5 is required for a deposit. There are a few others in addition to what is listed below:

Multiplatform
Beatles Rock Band
Madden 10

:360:

:ps3:

:wii:

:ds:

They usually get these featured games in on release day like any other game retailer (though note - as of late they have been very bad about this and have gotten many games several days late!). Note that you can preorder just about any other game as the system will allow them to preorder anything they have listed (yes, even at regular stores). I have preordered Mario Super Sluggers and Dragon Quest IV myself even though they are not "featured" as preorders. However, if it is not a featured preorder they may or may not get it in, and it may arrive as late as Friday of the release week (postscript - Mario Super Sluggers did indeed arrive on Friday when every other store had it Tues. or Weds. and Dragon Quest IV never arrived).

Of course you can cancel a preorder at any time and get your deposit back or switch it to another game, even after the game comes out. So don't worry about preordering something they might not get - you can always switch it to something else. However, since I've always used credit for purchasing things at Blockbuster I'm not sure how they would handle a cancellation of a cash deposit. They may simply issue a credit to your account so beware of that if placing a cash deposit on a preorder.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values
Trade-in price quotes will now be maintained by CAG Friend of Sonic in the THIRD post of this thread. The second post will continue to highlight specific games used to transfer credit from Blockbuster to Gamestop and vice versa.

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.

Stopped by 6 Blockbusters in the Tampa Bay area these last few days, and hardly found anything amazing. Saw a few copies of Bioshock I walked away from, and while not finding any 4.99 copies of Guitar Hero III, I did see 24.99 game/guitar bundles at nearly every store I went to (and plenty of Rock Band bundles too).

Managed to Score:

:ps3: Motorstorm: Pacific Rift - $29.99

and when I got up to the counter of the same store to check out....there was...

:ps3: Socom: Confrontation (w/headset) - $34.99

I've been wanting this headset for some time and this was the cheapest way to get it. I almost flipped the game for a price cut right there (never been into SOCOM) but when I found out the trade was a measly $8.00 I just paid for everything. $68 and change after tax. In retrospect I should have traded it in, as trying to sell it on Amazon isn't quite as easy as I'd hoped. Now a game, still in the wrap, taunts me in my house everytime I walk by it with it's "Trophy Support".

Trying to convince myself to sell it for what I can get......and not open it. TOO MANY SHOOTERS IN THE BACKLOG! I don't really even know what to compare SOCOM to......is it like console CounterStrike?

Wished I would have found a copy of Heavenly Sword, I'm sure my wallet is glad I didn't.

i think you can compare it to the ghost recon series but about the trophies on that game those are the hardest trophies to get out of all the ps3 games that offer trophy support

TIV
ps3 burnout paradise $6
360 tomb raider underworld $15
360 DMC 4 $4

picked up the following PS3 WWE SVR '09 but may take it back cause that rock band ps3 bundle is taunting me ;)
was looking for oblivion GOTY but after 5 BB stops i called it quits

I keep on top of this thread and I'm pretty sure no one ever said they got LBP for $15. Someone did say it was marked down to $49.99 though.

If LBP was anything less we'd have heard about it many times by now.

It's worth it at that price, hell it's worth it at $10Quote:

I've enjoyed CoD2&3 so far, excellent games. especially if you want somewhat lengthy single player, I heard COD4 is short.

I can't tell if you're joking or not.

Thanks mod io for maintaining a tight operation. I finally was able to grab gt prologue for $19.99. all the other stores here in our area scans @ $39.99.
I can't tell if you're joking or not.
No joke. I just wasn't really ever interested in the game. But if 15 bucks is a good deal for it then I might as well pick it up.

Picked up:

Lego Batman 360 - $19.99
GHIII 360 - $4.99
Drawn to Life DS - $9.99

No luck finding Uncharted. For a minute there, I got excited when I saw a case for the game in the clearance bin but it turned out it was a case for a used copy. :whistle2:|

Once again, I am out of BBV credit. I would've had to pay cash for Uncharted.

If anyone is interested, the BBV on Hawthorne/Redondo Beach in the South Bay had:

Professor Layton - $9.99
Lego Batman 360 - $19.99
De Blob - $19.99

Sepulveda/Manhattan Beach:

Lost Odyssey - $25.99
Mass Effect - $24.99? (Both need a further drop)
Lair - $9.99

Main/Grant:

SMG - $24.99
Mario Super Sluggers - $19.99
Warioland: Shake It! - $19.99
GH3 360 - $4.99
Lego Batman 360 - $19.99
Professor Layton - $9.99

Sepulveda/La Tijera:

Rock Band Bundle 360 - $54.99 (3 left)

I doubt you will ever find it for much less.

And you're talking about a new copy of LBP? Getting it for $15 would be much more than just a good deal! Prepare to see demands for a receipt scan in this thread!

No, you don't need a membership.

You sir, need to chill the fuck out. I would argue that your post brought the thread down more than the repeated "Is this game good?" posts. I understand the concept of keeping a thread on topic but ultimately other than have to read a few more posts, there is no harm done. It is exciting for some when a big clearance hits and one has so many games to choose from. Also, IO does a great job keeping the OP updated so if you want to cut out all the BS posts, just check the OP regularly.

To..serve..man.

For CAGs in the Pottstown area:

The NorCo BBV on Rt 100 has the best selection I've seen out of all the stores I've been to. Sorry for not having specifics, but I remember going there and seeing most of the better console games on the wall.

The Pottstown BBV has a 360 Rock Band bundle for $54 (it's the only one I've seen in the area) Exeter had a good selection of RB/GH bundles for other systems when I was there Friday, but I haven't been back.

My blockbuster has nothing, so sad. Anyone want to make a trade, I got a sealed Valk Chron from the Gamestop deal, looking for new Uncharted and Heavenly/Folklore.

Ninja edit: If not, I would even be open to buying the games and add in a few dollars for your troubles.

I finally decide to spend up my credit on rentals then I find out about this sale. Most of the stuff I would've wanted I played already so I will have to find something else to bite on.
Sale still on today? Any used drops?
My manager printed this week's paperwork yesterday and there was no info on used game drops. There was a sheet that said GH3 for PS2 dropped to $24.99 or something like that. It made no sense if you ask me. The paper said it was for "retail" games, but it could have been for used games. Someone might have just gotten the papers out of order.

A couple of DVDs dropped too, but nothing worth noting.

No new USED drops...one emlployee said they wouldn't as this was just a temporary sale. She said it was going to be a pain removing all the clearance stickers.

I'm definitely going to try to pick up Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Strikers Charged. If I can find Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, then I'm going to try to get that too.

what a world

Wario shake it
Hot Shots ps3
Grid
Indy ps3 all new for $80. and with that previous b1g1 used I now have 10 ps3 games for under $200

there is ONE store in midtown Kansas City that I swear no gamers must ever go to because literally every game listed in the Clearance is there as of Yesterday outside of Mario Strikers and Folklore

Picked up Lost Planet: Colonies Edition, Heavenly Sword, and Guitar Hero III. Pretty sweet that this thread has paid dividends yet again. I had thought all was lost. Gonna go look at another store to hopefully find Uncharted or Folklore.

going to one or two blockbusters today, if i find any copies of heavenly sword or uncharted i'll pick them up to trade with some other cags and help a brother out

Thats a good price on those games. And the employee discount to boot. It worked well for you.

In consolation for the regular blockbuster to gamestop traders, he used cash, so its almost as if they were priced at ~$15+ in credit due to the 0.30 on the dollar cash to credit ratio. I am just trying to shine some light on a gloomy day. But ~$5 in credit would have been much more sweet.
I found a used one for 6.99.
When did you pick that up? I found it used Saturday for 14.99. I ask because that may mean the used price drops have started kicking in.

I've seen Uncharted at numerous stores....and Saints Row 2 at one store. I could pick those up, but not sure what others want. If someone REALLY did get Little Big Planet for $15, I would trade for that.

I checked a local BBV at my lunch hour, but still no sign of used price drops, however, this store also had absolutely no sign of the new games clearance, so this probably means little. Has anyone found any used price drops?

All I was able to get was Devil May Cry 4 $14.99 for the 360. I had the cashier scan Dirt for the ps3 and it came up to $14.99 so I didnt get it.
