Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

Sadly, Blockbuster has cut down it's maximum trade-in value from $33-$35 to $25 or so and dropped all other values along with it. So welcome to the new world of Blockbuster featuring Gamestop trade-in prices (but without the Edge card and frequent trade-in deals to make it more appealing). Continue on if you feel like there is any need...

ALERT: More POG games (disc-only used games sold for $9.99) sighted at stores week of Nov 9th
Many CAGs have reported finding new shipments of POG games (prepacked previously owned games) showing up on Nov 10th-12th. This is YMMV as many stores will not get them. But if they do, they are usually in clear cases, disc-only, and are priced at $9.99. Some notables include Call of Duty World at War, CoD Modern Warfare, Halo 3, Halo Wars, etc. It appears to be all 360 games this time. These are disc-only refurbs but are usually in excellent shape. Note that these all have the same barcode that rings up $9.99 - if you find the same games with regular cover art and specific bar codes for that used game, then they are not part of this POG stock and will be regular prices (generally way over $9.99 for the newer titles).

ALERT: B1G1 NOW OVER (but possibly returning in late November)
The latest Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale on games $14.99 has ended. The following list of $14.99 and under used games will be maintained for the next sale though. It seems highly likely from various reports that a B1G1 sale will be returning some time in late November. Some are even a decent buy without the B1G1 sale:

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas 2007 and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Dec 2008) most Blockbuster stores are selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, Wii's, and DS's. They do not sell PSP's. However, they have also started selling other electronics including Blu-ray players, portable DVD players, and digital picture frames. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, most regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Featured Preorders
Most Blockbuster stores (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are featuring several games for preorder. $5 is required for a deposit. There are a few others in addition to what is listed below:

Multiplatform
Beatles Rock Band
Madden 10

:360:

:ps3:

:wii:

:ds:

They usually get these featured games in on release day like any other game retailer (though note - as of late they have been very bad about this and have gotten many games several days late!). Note that you can preorder just about any other game as the system will allow them to preorder anything they have listed (yes, even at regular stores). I have preordered Mario Super Sluggers and Dragon Quest IV myself even though they are not "featured" as preorders. However, if it is not a featured preorder they may or may not get it in, and it may arrive as late as Friday of the release week (postscript - Mario Super Sluggers did indeed arrive on Friday when every other store had it Tues. or Weds. and Dragon Quest IV never arrived).

Of course you can cancel a preorder at any time and get your deposit back or switch it to another game, even after the game comes out. So don't worry about preordering something they might not get - you can always switch it to something else. However, since I've always used credit for purchasing things at Blockbuster I'm not sure how they would handle a cancellation of a cash deposit. They may simply issue a credit to your account so beware of that if placing a cash deposit on a preorder.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values
Trade-in price quotes will now be maintained by CAG Friend of Sonic in the THIRD post of this thread. The second post will continue to highlight specific games used to transfer credit from Blockbuster to Gamestop and vice versa.

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.

Just got back from lunch and my first BBV stop. Picked up:

For me:
Okami (wii) 9.99
TWEWY (DS) 9.99 *new ds coming from amazon on thurs*

Hopefully for FNR4
GTA IV (ps3) 14.99
Mx vs. ATV (ps3) 14.99
Some TIVs at Gamestop
Wii
Okami:8.50
Alien Syndrome 2.25
Tony Hawk's Proving Ground 5.75

also Okami was only 6.99. 6.99 -> 8.50 is pretty nice + its b1g1. Race Pro still trades in for 19 at BBV. The cashier rang me up paying for all the most expensive games I bought. I had to explain to him that I could just do seperate transactions. So he just refunded me.
Okami is not $6.99. I just bought one and the receipt shows $9.99. It might have been tagged that way and they overrode it for you though.

My store had almost none of the stuff people are saying is everywhere - but a couple of other stores near me might have some things. I'm heading out in a bit - too busy today though! Arg!

Grabbed:
:ds:Lock's Quest
Sonic Chronicles

:360:Quantum of Solace

:wii:De blob
Dragon Quest

:ps3:GTA IV

All from my store. I checked out the sister store in town using our new inventory search and they didn't have a lot I was interested in. Probably not going to another one. GTA and bond with my spiderman WOS gets me fight night 4, and then the few others were super cheap(deal and discount) to trade on goozex. I actually wanted to play web of shadows, I just bought it like two weeks ago from work, but I can rent it whatever... or buy it later for a good price, we didn't have anymore for sale.

Here are the games from the B1G1 sales that have the best Gamestop trade-in value.

$6.99 or less
Condemned 2 $5.25 (6/13/09) 360
Frontlines Fuel of War $4.75 (6/18/09) 360

$9.99
Spiderman Friend or Foe $9 (6/2/09) Wii
Incredible Hulk $8.75 (6/30/09) Wii
Incredible Hulk $8.50 (6/23/09) 360
Okami $8.50 (6/26/09)
Wall-E $7.75 (6/30/09) Wii

$14.99
GTA IV $14 (6/27/09) 360

Frontlines Fuel of War 360
Condemed 2 360 X2
Fracture 360
Incredible Hulk 360 X2
Baja Edge of Control
GTA IV 360
Iron Man 360

I already dumped it and picked up BlazBlue. Also FNrnd4. That will probably go back, but it is sitting on my shelf, waiting for me to open...hopefully I dont cave in.

Also, my games pretty much ALL came with standard boxes and manuals. I pulled a scumbag moved and brought the games to Gamestop without any boxes or manuals....oh well, karma will probably come around and get me.

Here's what I picked up, didn't notice a couple of these on the list:

$14.99:
Crisis Core: FFVII
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon

$9.99:
TWEWY
Lock's Quest
Okami
Innocent Life: Harvest Moon

$6.99:
Samba De Amigo
Condemned 2

So the B1G1 goes thru closing time on July 13th.(been posted that it was a 2 week sale). July 12th is the end of the tiered promo at Gamestop, what's next then?
Imagine this thread will be burning up if the trade 3 get $15 were to return and align with the B1G1 for one day.

Enjoying all the finds, Fight Night Rd 4 will be the best selling game of the week at Gamestop, and I see 007 Quantum of Solace being the used game of the week real soon :D
Also, my games pretty much ALL came with standard boxes and manuals. I pulled a scumbag moved and brought the games to Gamestop without any boxes or manuals....oh well, karma will probably come around and get me.
And what will you do with them?

F'n rubbish. I woke up early today and went down to my BBV to get some games to do the FN4 deal at Gamestop. Lady told me they didn't start theirs yet and will do it on Thursday.

I thought today was going to be a bust when I went to the first of 3 stores right in my area and they had zero, absolutely no used games at all in store. Luckily between my next two stops I found several. Got Hulk and Iron man for $10 at one store. Then Spiderman Web of Shadows, Merc 2, 007 and Star Wars Lego II: original trilogy (couldn't help myself. also only game that wasn't complete with manual and case today) for $30. Not a bad day.

I missed out on a copy of one of the Mystery Dungeon games because a little girl picked it up before I saw it.

I did, however, leave with a copy of Guitar Hero 3 for my sister, and Okami for my Wii. Not too shabby there.

The lady you talked to doesn't determine when the sale starts nor does anyone at any particular store. If your store is a regular, non-franchise store, then the computer is already programmed to do the B1G1. The person who rang up my games today had no idea about the sale, but it still rang up on the register.
Anyone in So. Cal having luck? I went to 3 BBV all had no signs and didn't ask because games I saw were not worth it. Did find Star Ocean 2 at Target for $10, so not a totally loss
I live in Ventura County, and the sale is definitely going on around here. The employee who rang me up didn't even know about the sale, so I suspect that's the case with your stores as well...

Picked up the following (so far) -

DS

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Darkness - $14.99
Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party - $9.99

PS3 -

Monster Madness Grave Danger - $9.99
Iron Man - $9.99

Wii -

My Sims Party - $14.99
Pinball HOF Williams Collection $9.99

I haven't seen any Mirrors Edge, Fire Emblem, Bioshock, etc. But only been to 2 stores so far. Games that I saw a ton of were Nights $6.99 & Frontlines 360 $6.99.

Terrible items for ps3 at the blockbuster I just went to :((( I'll try some other block busters on my way to my friend's place.... lol!!!!

grrrr

I picked up 2 Baja: edge of controls for $15, one for me and a friend and I also picked up tiger woods 08 and MLB 2k8 for him. Not bad still have a few blockbusters in my area to hit.
does anyone know any good flips from GS to BBV?

Besides Cranium Bukkake and Race Pro...I bought all those out.
Tenchu for Wii. Used game of the week $14.99 at Gamestop $15 at BB.
Wheelman PS3, $29.99 used at Gamestop, $25 at BB.
After Edge it's an almost even credit transfer to BB.

70$ spent

Spiderman WoS
Bioshock
GTAIV
= 1 copy of Fight Night

TWEWY
Locke's Quest
NinjaTown
Pokemon Darkness
Haze
Merc2(x2)

Probably gonna end up with a 100+$ from this

Yeah the stores I went to are pretty much full of s--t. Most had a good amount but nothing worth buying even for $7.50

Most of the games have been their for so long they were at the last sale.

Man I wish BB got stock in and out like Gamestop does. This would be one hell of a sale (last one was really good but nothing really new since then). I just found out though that 2 blockbusters are gone that I wasn't aware of though. Now I know not to go back to that area at least.

I went to one BB and got 2 Quantum of Solaces for 360.

Went to another BB got Quantum of Solace 360 and Folklore PS3.

Went to Gamestop, traded in 2 Quantum of Solace 360s and Folklore for Fight Night PS3.

Now I am stuck with a Quantum of Solace for 360, heck, I dont even own a 360. I guess I can trade it for something or sell it. I wouldn't mind a Mercenaries 2 PS3 for trade, they are about the same value.

Went to 3 stores while on my deliveries today and got:

:360:
Baja: edge of Control -15
Spiderman: Web of Shadows - 15
007 Quantum of Solace - 15
Unreal Tournament III - 15
Lego Batman - 15
Tomb Raider Anniversary - 10

:ps3:
Genji - 15

:ds:
Ninja Town - 15

If I do the Fight Night trade, can I then trade that unopened Fight Night back to Gamestop for 60 bucks credit, since it would still be unopened?

Or are they hip to such a swap?

You can do the swap. Try doing it at a different store, but it really shouldn't matter.

My store had GTAIV and Ninja Gaiden which I picked up. Stores around here don't even carry Mirror's Edge. Good day nonetheless.

Went to 2 BBV. 1st one I picked up GTA IV for the PS3 and QOS for the 360. They also had Spider-Man WOS for both systems and MX vs ATV for the 360 marked $29.99. Spider-Man WOS for the 360 scanned $29.99 so I didn't bother having him check the other two. He then told me they re-marked a lot of games today. Second BBV had nothing but I was able to get the manuals for both games.

I was hoping to find another game besides QOS since I was planning on using that as my 3rd game in the Fight Night deal. And Gamestop won't take 2 of the same game at the same time. If I can't find a 3rd game at the other BBV near me I will have to keep a QOS and trade in Heavenly Sword or Farcry 2 instead.
So, what are we seeing as far as conditions of the games? Original or BB cases? Manuals? Disc conditions?
The two games I bought earlier today(Quantum Of Solace for 360, GTAIV for PS3) both had the Blockbuster cases and only QOS had the manual, but both had coverart and both discs were in MINT condition. Those were the ONLY games which qualify for the GS deal that I found at my closest BBV too, so I got REALLY lucky.

I then took my copy of Folklore I got from Sears for $10 to a Gamestop with the other two games, got a copy of FNR4 for PS3 and then returned it using a gift receipt for the $63.59 in credit back on my EDGE card about 30-45 minutes later.

All in all it was a smooth process and now I'm so glad there's like 2-3 Gamestops within a mile or two of each other, since it was so easy to do the deal then return less than a mile away.

The guys at GameStop told me that the games did not have to even have a manual or box at all. As long as the disk wasn't damaged drastically they would take it for the trade in.

I traded in QoS for 360 with no manual and no box and they took it for the deal. Other two games were complete though.

Is this B1G1 deal YMMV?
I just went to one BBV and the guy at the counter said "we don't have that kind of sale"

I hate that attitude. What the fuck is it to him? Maybe you're buying two games because unlike him, you actually have a friend and you want to give it to him.

Luckily, every BBV i went to today had cool managers who told me about the B1G1 as soon as I walked in the store.

I think I'm pretty much done with this sale.

It's extremely YMMV and the title should reflect as such. Out of the 3 stores around me, 1 was doing it and had no used games to speak of. Can we update the title now please?

If someone would've asked me about it today, and I hadn't been on CAG, I would've said the same thing "nah we aren't doing that sale right now". There was literally 1 e-mail stating we were, that I don't read and that whoever printed it out never brought to my attention. Luckily I did know about it, stashed some games, went in today to pick them up and double check and we found the print out. We never got any signs or any other flyers either.

Went to two stores, found nothing of interest really. The only game towards the FNR4 deal was 007 (360), but nothing to pair with it. I'll check one more store tomorrow. I did find Mercs 2 for $9.99 (PS3), but passed as I had nothing I wanted with that.

If I can find two games at the next store tomorrow, I may go back and get 007 and Mercs 2.

How do you know that 2 of your stores weren't doing it? Was it because the CSR told you, or did you actually try to ring up some games and the register didn't recognize the B1G1 sale? I have a feeling it's the former rather than the latter. Not all employees are aware of this sale. However, the computer will ring up the sale regardless as long as you're not in a franchise store...
You can do the swap. Try doing it at a different store, but it really shouldn't matter.

My store had GTAIV and Ninja Gaiden which I picked up. Stores around here don't even carry Mirror's Edge. Good day nonetheless.
How do you swap it? I'd love to get me a copy of Blazblue

ah crap and i just bought two games yesterday from BBV, Bioshock and GTA 4 on my PS3...wonder if i can go back and see if they will return then and let me rebuy them for the sale.

None of the 3 BBVs that I went to had any signs up promoting the b1g1 sale. Their used game stock was pretty much bare, compared to the past. For some reason, every BBV had atleast 1 copy of deBlob.

I didn't find 1 $9.99 game worth flipping. The last store I checked had a Folklore, QoS and a Bioshock PS3 (tagged at $24.99) so I decided to do the FNR4 return deal. I also picked up a GTA4 PS3 and I hope to find 2 more games to do the FNR4 deal one more time. Actually, I did find another Folklore and a bunch of QoS but there was nothing else to pair them up with.

Was able to get:

Wii
Mario + Sonic 14.99
De Blob

DS
Sonic Chronicles 14.99
The World Ends With You

360
GTA IV 14.99
Guitar Hero Aerosmith (slim pickings...only thing that interested me)

Couple games I got came with generic renting box while there are couple missing booklet. Any way I can convince them to give me booklet?:whistle2:s
