Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

Sadly, Blockbuster has cut down it's maximum trade-in value from $33-$35 to $25 or so and dropped all other values along with it. So welcome to the new world of Blockbuster featuring Gamestop trade-in prices (but without the Edge card and frequent trade-in deals to make it more appealing). Continue on if you feel like there is any need...

ALERT: More POG games (disc-only used games sold for $9.99) sighted at stores week of Nov 9th
Many CAGs have reported finding new shipments of POG games (prepacked previously owned games) showing up on Nov 10th-12th. This is YMMV as many stores will not get them. But if they do, they are usually in clear cases, disc-only, and are priced at $9.99. Some notables include Call of Duty World at War, CoD Modern Warfare, Halo 3, Halo Wars, etc. It appears to be all 360 games this time. These are disc-only refurbs but are usually in excellent shape. Note that these all have the same barcode that rings up $9.99 - if you find the same games with regular cover art and specific bar codes for that used game, then they are not part of this POG stock and will be regular prices (generally way over $9.99 for the newer titles).

ALERT: B1G1 NOW OVER (but possibly returning in late November)
The latest Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale on games $14.99 has ended. The following list of $14.99 and under used games will be maintained for the next sale though. It seems highly likely from various reports that a B1G1 sale will be returning some time in late November. Some are even a decent buy without the B1G1 sale:

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas 2007 and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Dec 2008) most Blockbuster stores are selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, Wii's, and DS's. They do not sell PSP's. However, they have also started selling other electronics including Blu-ray players, portable DVD players, and digital picture frames. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, most regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Featured Preorders
Most Blockbuster stores (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are featuring several games for preorder. $5 is required for a deposit. There are a few others in addition to what is listed below:

Multiplatform
Beatles Rock Band
Madden 10

:360:

:ps3:

:wii:

:ds:

They usually get these featured games in on release day like any other game retailer (though note - as of late they have been very bad about this and have gotten many games several days late!). Note that you can preorder just about any other game as the system will allow them to preorder anything they have listed (yes, even at regular stores). I have preordered Mario Super Sluggers and Dragon Quest IV myself even though they are not "featured" as preorders. However, if it is not a featured preorder they may or may not get it in, and it may arrive as late as Friday of the release week (postscript - Mario Super Sluggers did indeed arrive on Friday when every other store had it Tues. or Weds. and Dragon Quest IV never arrived).

Of course you can cancel a preorder at any time and get your deposit back or switch it to another game, even after the game comes out. So don't worry about preordering something they might not get - you can always switch it to something else. However, since I've always used credit for purchasing things at Blockbuster I'm not sure how they would handle a cancellation of a cash deposit. They may simply issue a credit to your account so beware of that if placing a cash deposit on a preorder.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values
Trade-in price quotes will now be maintained by CAG Friend of Sonic in the THIRD post of this thread. The second post will continue to highlight specific games used to transfer credit from Blockbuster to Gamestop and vice versa.

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.

I read somewhere earlier in the thread that quantum of solace is now 14.99 at BBV, but when I went there it was marked as 19.99. Has the label just not been updated or is that the actual price?

Some TIV's from today
Hulk 360 5
Bully Scholarship Edition 360 8.25
Lock's Quest DS 5.75
Frontlines: Fuel of War 360 3.50
Condemned 2 360 4.25
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith 3.50

If its for 360, then the label hasn't been updated (and its really $14.99). If its for PS3, the label is accurate (I think, it might be $24.99 on PS3, but definitely not $14.99).

Or, that is a franchise store and all bets are off.

Just got home from the best flip job ever (eww gross)

Ok, so here it is:

I go to blockbuster and look for some used games that I can trade in for Fight Night 4 at Gamestop...I only see Folklore (PS3) and Quantum of Solace (360)...but then I ask the clerk if I can buy some of the rental games at used prices..she says yes, but I have to treat it as if i was renting them (so pay the 10$ rental fee as well) I then ask if I can use the unlimited rentals for 10$ once, and get as many games as I want and buy them for their used prices, AND use the B1G1Free deal...she asks the manager, comes back and says yes. So after much searching I find 4 more games on the list as rentals: GTA IV (PS3), Quantum of Solace (360), Spiderman: Web of Shadows (360), MX vs ATV (PS3)....then the manager rings me up as the clerk comments on how smart I am for finding that way to do it.....

so

I pay 15$ for the unlimted rentals 2 out at a time deal.
then 15$ for the two used games I got
then 15$ for two of the rentals as used games
then 15$ for the other two rentals as used games

so 60$ for 6 games on the GS trade in list for Fight Night..AND I still have a full week of free, unlimited (2 at a time tho) game/movie rentals, and I have a week (or two if you count the no late fee rule) after the unlimited week, to keep and play the games before I have to return them. So I picked up UFC and Uncharted for PS3.

Then I go to Gamestop and get two Fight Nights (I had to go to 2 different GS's cause the first would not take Quantum of Solace twice)

Then I turned those two Fight Nights into cash (you guys know how)

so 60$ profit + free game rentals for a week

woot

I picked up Unreal Tournament III, The Darkness, Project Sylpheed and Condemned 2: Bloodshot for under $30. Gonna hit up a couple of other Blockbusters in the area.

at two of my blockbusters, they have an effing shitload of
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue - $4 (6/17/09)
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (Time and Darkness) - $7 (5/23/09)

They must have converted all the rentals on sunday. Those are the TIVs to GS, which suck, but if you actually want the games to play they are both $14.99. If I had a ds, I'd probably get $7.50 out of one of them.
Anyone seen any new drops?
One of the new drops mentioned earlier this morning is Mirror's Edge for the 360 dropped to 14.99. A BBV manager searched the computer to look for a copy in my area and there were no copies at any stores, which is freakin crazy. He said that his store never got a copy of that game.

GS has it for 17.99, so I'll have to get that the next B2G1.

Thanks for the update TIV's. Glad I traded most of the games in yesterday. Went and did the rest after reading this thread. Lesson learned is : trade in ASAP so the TIV's don't change.

Oh yea, just a heads up to u guys.... today a GS manager told me that soon they are bringing back that Guitar Hero World Tour Bundle Deal for $90 and this time xbox 360 will be included. There goes $90 of my credit. I might have to trade in my copy of the game with the extra 50% deal at GS or trade it to BBV. I'd make a whole separate thread about it because this GS manager is very reliable, but I don't want to piss CAGs off if his info is wrong.

I managed to pick up Condemned ($9.99) and Tomb Raider: Anniversary (Free) as well as (God of War: Chains of Olympus $14.99) and FFVII: Crisis Core (Free) today. If anyone wants the Crisis Core, shoot me a PM and your trade list!

I got a quote for some Wii trade-in values:

Spray - $6
Sam & Max: Season 1 - $4
Samurai Warriors: Katana - $6
Shaun White Snowboarding - $10
Rayman Raving Rabids: TV Party - $8*
Rygar - $6*

I can't remember the last two exactly, but they weren't worth flipping. All in all, bad day for me. :whistle2:(

I just went back to BBV and was able to return the games I foolishly bought. Very much YMMV, but I think only if the BBV gets no business would they not refund the money. I had no problem at both stores, at the 1 store the guy mentioned that the sales were sort of final but that was it. It was only a few hours later though also.

Finally did that FN4 deal
FN4 => SF4
Total 73+change for that and nine others I'll be playing on and off.
Seeing as I'm poor and unemployed, I think it's time to look for a job.
Goodbye everyone for a undisclosed amount of time.
I snagged MLB Power Pros (Wii) and Final Fantasy Echoes of Time (DS) for $10.58 after tax.
Did Echoes of Time ring up at that price or did it have to be manually adjusted? The only FF game I have seen marked for $9.99 is FFIII - if Echoes is that cheap, I'll be on it!

It was tagged $9.99. But rang up $29.99. I did not know it was a steal until after I came home. And it is in mint condition, with all paper work in side.

Well, my BBV are pretty much dead, I've checked them out again and nothing thats worthy except for a lone copy at one store then another.

More TIVs (base)from Gamestop current as of 7/06

360
Fracture - $5.50
Bully: SE - $8.25
Baja - $5
Universe at War - $4.50
Frontlines FoW - $3.50

Wii
Worms: space oddity - $6.75

TIVS for GS
QoS 360 7.50
Shrek the 3rd 360 3.00
Universe at War 360 4.50
Viva Pinata DS 5.75
De Blob Wii 5 (ouch lost 4 dollars + 2 more on the extra 50% by waiting a day)
Rayman Raving Rabids Tv Party DS 4.25
Iron Man WII 6.75

Is there a limit on the number of one particular game that we can trading in at BBV?
For example, if I have 8 QoS, can I get in trouble (or banned) for trading in at one location? Do I have to spread it out or do I need to trade in a few days apart. Also can the BBV deny the trade ins because I have too many?

Thanks
I'm sort of confused on how this gift receipt thing works, can anyone explain please?
Basically, you go into Gamestop. Tell them you want to trade in your 3 games towards FNR4. Make sure you use your EDGE card for a bonus. They ring it up and everything. And then you ask them if you can get a gift receipt. Say it's for a friend or whatever, they usually wont care. Take said receipt and the game to another GameStop and return the game. You will get a gift card for the $59.99 and tax. Others have been able to get cash, but I don't think the gift receipt route works with that.

No new games at the two Blockbusters I went to today. About 1/3 of their entire stock was left.

On a FNR4 return today with gift receipt, the GS clerk called the store to get transaction details and how it was paid for. I got $59.99 on a card, but no tax. I never had this issue before.

Probably because it seems like everyone is doing this. They are losing quite a bit of money giving out tax with the return. I guess they smartened up.

BBV will ban you for trading that many copies of 1 game.

Shit, I wouldn't trade more than 1 copy at a time to BBV.

Gamestop, people seem to trade many many copies at a time but the most i ever do is 2. No need to rouse suspicion.

Wow, big updates of trade-in prices at GS and Amazon. I'm glad I traded my stuff yesterday at GS and locked in some others at Amazon (I have till next Monday to mail them).

The list of 2x flips is now down to GTA IV 360, House of the Dead 2/3, Okami, Bioshock PS3, Mario & Sonic, Crash of the Titans, Wall-E Wii, TWEWY, Hitman Blood Money, Brain Age 2, and Fire Emblem DS assuming all those values have held as well. Don't blame me if they've changed ;).

Which amazon TIVs fell?
Which amazon TIVs do you think are still the best right now?
Also, if you get a chance can you please upload an update of your excel export list? I tried to catch everything posted, but I've only skimmed the last 40 or 50 pgs of this thread.

Thanks again io for your continued efforts.

Yep, PS3 (possibly 360).

Looking at my trade-ins that I mailed yesterday, deBlob went down $0.50 to $10.00 and TWEWY went up $0.50 to $7.50.

I'm not going to be able to update the excel list till tonight at the earliest - which is why I gave that partial list last night. I was travelling across country yesterday and the rest of this week will be doing 10-14 hour programming sessions with other people from my company. Thus much less time to mess around on CAG like when I'm at home. I'm snagging a few minutes here at the start of the day (ugh, this is normally when I go to sleep back home ).

The ones that dropped at Amazon are GTA IV for PS3 ($12.25 -> $9.50 or so), DMC 4 ($7.50 -> $6), and De Blob as mentioned before. Luckily I submitted those trades late Sunday night while getting ready for my trip. I have till the 13th to mail them so that's nice as I couldn't get them together in time.

Last night I finally got a hold of some games I wanted off my list.
Ironman Ps3 9.99
Lego Batman Ps3 Free
Gta IV Ps3 14.99
Folklore Ps3 Free

FNR4 deal here we come

PS3 version is $14.99 and x360 is $19.99.
anyone know how much assassins creed or mgs4 run for at blockbuster right now? i know im prolly pushing it with the mgs.
AC is probably cheap, it was 17 or 19 last time we even had one used(for 360) like, last year. I would imagine the ps3 at one point was higher, they always seem to be, but again that was awhile ago so I'm sure both dropped in price. It's 20 at gamestop and bbv usually has much lower used prices. MGS4 went to 25 used a month~ ago and I bought our copy since it came to 20+tax with discount, I figured it wouldn't be much cheaper than that for awhile. Pretty sure it's still at 25.

God I hate my local blockbusters. They NEVER participate in these crazy sales. EVER.

I'm glad at least most of you get these deals. Kansas sucks.

AC for the ps3 is 14.99 at BBV. for the 360 I think it was 24.99, it might of been 19.99, but it not 14.99 as of July 2nd.

Nice, thanks for the update. I gotta go grab it now, I think i remember seeing a few of them, and this is part of FN4 deal.

I have a few QoS with GTA4 but no 3rd game to pair them up with. This is perfect.
