Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

June 25th - July 1st, 50% off used games $19.99 and under

See here for the deal: http://www.blockbuster.com/stores

There used to be a coupon to print for it, but now stores should have the bar code to scan at the register.  If not, show them their own web page (above) and maybe they will figure it out.

See BlockbusterGuy's thread for a list of titles eligible under (and commonly found at BBV) for the promo:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/310423-blockbuster-video-4th-of-july-sale-bogo/

Coming July 2nd: B1G1 free on games $29.99 and under

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note that anything below here might be out of date. To be honest, I have no idea if Blockbuster even takes games for trade-in any more!

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Blockbuster store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (BBVto Amazon to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from BBV.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit will be placed onto your store account
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values

Trade-in prices are usually universal at Blockbuster, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Monday. We are not currently sure when trade-in values get updated but a few years ago it used to be on Mondays. Any quotes given in this thread may thus be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

Oh, it was definitely there for the first 2 months. Everyone in the 6 month free thread was confirming that. I got 2 things within the first week and a half and they didn't ship the next one until the very day of my "billing date" (1 month from signup) even though I had several things available the whole time. But now they seem to be sending things even though I've already had 2 for Oct/Nov (my billing date is around the 15th).
Dish screwed up so bad buying Blockbuster. They should've just let it die right next to Circuit City and Linens N Things.
With the way they've been running BBV(or at least the recent attempted game sale(s), I tend to agree that they should've joined Hollywood Video/Movie Gallery in oblivion. But at the same time, I also got to know many employees at the closest store here(one of two out of only THREE total left in this area:whistle2:#) and they've been pretty cool during the halfway decent sales like that 5/$30 last year around this time.

Speaking of which, I stopped into that store earlier tonight and the only thing I noticed was a bunch of movies for $1.99 and a 3/$5 movie sale on some $1.99 titles. Titles included one of the Futurama extended episodes/movies that they made before Comedy Central picked them up and the recent A-Team movie.

I would be more than happy to go to BBV and spend another $200 or so - IF they do another video game sale like last December. So many great titles for next to nothing.

Yeah, if they started doing the B1G1 on video games I would be a regular shopper for those. Otherwise I haven't been to one in months again and other than maybe doing a swap out for a $.99 movie this weekend I probably won't be back there again this year. They've buried themselves and seem too short sighted to recognize that.

My neareast one closes down in 8 more days, I was there yesterday and they finally added more discount. 50% off game
87% off blurays (all were between $1-$2)

Think they might go 75% off games before they close? All those games were over priced so the 50% off didnt really help except a few like Persona 4 Arena and Super Mario Galaxy 2. Dark Souls was still priced at $50 lol.

When I did that six month free trial I never got anything for the first month at all. They claimed to have shipped a game twice, but magically they never arrived. Just canceled after I had to report a 2nd disc, out of two, missing and a month of not having gotten anything. Horrible, horrible service.
I always walk past blockbuster on my way home for work and I always watch it like a vulture waiting for that liquidation sign to pop up. I can smell it comming soon
I take it you've never been to a liquidation sale before? The discounts are fuckin' horrible, everything is marked back up to MSRP or higher(even games with a current $20 MSRP are marked to $50-60 and discounted from there:whistle2:#).

So if anything, hope that Blockbuster manages to somehow stay in business and Dish starts doing the BOGO or the even more delicious 5/$30 sales again at some point.

Not that it would matter if they did this now in my area, since my closest BBV has jack and shit for $14.99 and under titles anymore.:whistle2:#

Does anyone know what happens when you have a game on a combo pass when a Blockbuster store closes? Mine isn't closing but I thought maybe someone would know.

I use to work there and you can keep it as long as you paid. We tried to tell people in advance we were closing and canceled their pass. Last month or two of renting we didn't get the new games anyway so most canceled.

That's typical since the MSRP on Dark Souls now I believe is $20.

Hahaha thanks for the heads up

Meanwhile, my Blockbuster still has Uncharted 3 for $39.99 used.

Those are also the only $14.99 + under titles my 3 closest BBVs have... "Jack" and "Shit." It can't be a coincidence.

I don't mean you can keep the game for good. What I meant is say they stopped renting on the 1st, but you paid till the 10th you can keep it up to the 10th though no exchanges.

Return why you don't see many good deals is employees get first dips and we had to send newer games to other stores. Remember I got Battlefield 3 for $10 and sold it online for $40. Got a bunch of blu rays like Hangover 2, Rise of Planet Apes, etc and sold them for a good profit. Shit losing our jobs we all said fuck em.

Hey guys new things coming down to blockbuster and new deals coming down the pipeline... For those of you that have a blockbuster near you there will be a couple sales coming down.. Blackfriday sale will be for 1 week for us not just Friday and will consist of movie new and used for 99 cents. Also there will be a buy 2 get 1 free mix match on used games or used movies. Don't worry we will change the use price dramatically so it should be a good deal. There was a recent price changed that dropped uncharted 3 new at 19.99. Blockbuster MIGHT also carry the WII U at launch but that's a big maybe, if we can get a deal going with Nintendo we should have about 3 systems per store but for sure we will carry Wii U games to rent at launch. I will post all deals and dates when they start as soon as I get the dates!

I'm excited to say the least. :)Thanks BlockbusterGuy. Will the new and used 99 cent movies also include blurays?

I bought the original Wii a week or so after launch at a once nearby Blockbuster. I hope they carry the Wii U too.

I don't know what kinda of movies or if blurays will be included, I'll have the planogram Tom and will post as soon as I can. I can confirm the we will carry dream works titles in for 9.99 new and inside the movie there will be a 8.00 movie cash to see rise of the guardians.

No I'm not a joke account I been a lurker for 1 year today to be exact.. And this web site has saved me a lot of $$$$$$ and I am thankful for that.. I didn't join because I could contribute anything until now.. If Hawaiiboy has moved on from the company I would like to take his place for info on blockbuster but if he still employee then ill back off

Randy Marsh?

Hmmm, a b2G1 eh. I guess Dish forgot that B1G1 existed. Ah well, this sale is more flexible. I think I'll track down the remaining blockbusters and have myself one more BBY sale.

We just started doing a promotion where you get a $5 gift card when you purchase a $25 gift card.

We're preordering games (such as Black Ops 2); therefore you can purchase 2 gift cards for $50 and get $10 free, then preorder the game and you get a bonus $5 gift card.

So yeah, new games for $50 and you get $5 back.

Thanks for sharing. Not a bad deal at all. Please keep a look out for those b2g1 used sales for us please!

i'm back. whats up fellas its been a long time. one of my old store mgr friends gave me a head up on the b2g1 sale. it begins on 11/20 not sure when it ends though. the sale is on any priced games and it is barcoded so we all know how that goes with uninformed employees. also i believe on 12/4 it will be b1 get 1 50% off on any game.

like pezman was saying the buy $25 and get $5 free giftcard promo is going on throughout the holiday season so might be a good idea to take advantage of that if your buying some games.

if anyone wants prices i had him print up a status sheet for me for :360:, :ps3: and :wii:. quick look at them and they havent seemed to drop much in the last 6 months or so.

I would appreciate a price update if it's not too much of a hassle hb. When I went to rent Black Ops 2 on Tuesday, I saw Uncharted 3 still going for $39.99 used.

Guess who's back in the motherfuckin' house,
with a fat price sheet for your motherfuckin' mouth.

Hawaiiboy!

I'd love to see the price sheet also. Nice to hear from you again.

I know this is the videogame forum, but I'm always excited about good bluray deals also. If you can find out any news, I'd appreciate it.

Hmmm...buy TWO get one free? Kind of weak after having years of regular B1G1 sales Still, great to see some actual movement at Blockbuster, but unless there are massive price drops to coincide with this deal, it'll probably be pointless to an average CAG

This is my first time in this thread, since I never go to BlockBuster and have no idea what a Gamerush is, so I'm wondering what kind of deals BB usually has. I went to one a few days ago and saw... well exactly what SonictheHedgehog said. "Jack" and "Shit."

They used to do buy one get one free on games $15 and under, which was always a great deal. But this was when they actually had a good selection of used games and actually reduced the prices on them from time to time. Nobody wants $40 Uncharted 3 and Black Ops even with B2G1 free!

I'll get the price list up this evening sometime. I don't think there are any blu ray deals. They finally dropped the prices on the $16.99 blu's as I didn't see any at that price. They are doing away with the 3 and 4 for $20 deals from what I was told.

I went to one of the few bbv left in my area and they did have a lot of games, but the prices were way too high. Most games were priced at $17.99-$44

Oh how I miss the old days...

I stopped by my local blockbuster not excpecting much but I was surprised at the "sale" prices they had on used games. They had Mass Effect 3 and RE:ORC for 49.99 and Uncharted 3 for 29.99; I could get these games new for alot less. Everything else was way overpriced and mostly above MSRP. No wonder blockbuster is going out of business.
