I still get along great with my residents from my first year as an RA, the only year I was with freshmen. I was actually an RA with another CAG, though we didn't realize it until a while through the year. Either way, we did write up people, and any RA that doesn't generally doesn't return (they do track how much of that you do, and 0 is a good way to get fired/not asked back), though it creates absolutely chaos on floors (you can pretty easily tell what an RA is like by walking on their floor on a weekend). That's not to say stuff never happened, but there weren't any keggers in the hallway.
Anyway, I've been with upperclassmen the last 3 years, they are boring. They've chilled out, or learned to go party somewhere else. But my kids I had when they were freshmen invite me to their parties and stuff now that they're all of legal age (I was only 19 when I was their RA, and I'm 22 now).
