For those people with ps+, does Stacking have an expiration date like other giveway ps+ games?
and if not, is this a glitch, is the expiration simply misleading or will stacking stay active once a ps+ sub ends?
Look at the dates listed that the games will be free for Plus members, each game gets about 4-5 weeks on the Store for you to download. This can't possibly take the place of all free PS+ content during that 6 month period.

First, a new free game is available on a bi-weekly basis, which means these Sega games are probably going to be every other "free" PS+ game along that timeline.
The way it usually works is we get a free PSN game, mini, and PS1 game in the first update of the month. Then in the second update two weeks after that, we get our second mini along with Qore and other stuff like themes and avatars.

For some reason some games, even some you buy, just don't show the 'owner/expire' info. This doesn't show that.

some of the games have passes listed under services (or maybe it's called licenses can't remember... it's somewhere in your account management though) instead (wipeout was this way... and the first episode of sam and max are this way... I forget which others)

Free games like Spyro and Sonic make it pretty easy to get your moneys worth from a year of PSN+. Just for the record is that correct that the Modnation Racers download is over 9 gigs?

I'm downloading it now.

Size 9846 MB

In comparison PURE trial is 4687 MB. Tomb Raider: Underworld 6149 MB

So far I have to say Plus has been a great purchase for me. I already owned at least 1/2 of the monthly "FREE" games, but all the other stuff I got, and played, was worth way over the price of a year.

I can pretty much agree with everyone after 2 months of Plus, I've gotten more than enough to double what i spent on the subscription of 15 months.

Though to be fair, the selection is questionable at times for my taste, but hey still 13 months to go. Somewhere in there is bound to be some diamonds i'll keep right?

So that's why I saw people on my friend's list playing Sonic all of a sudden .

I'll have to look into Blast Factor. $2 sounds pretty good.

The free game have been great (though Sonic is a meh for me - but I can't complain after just getting the awesome Stacking straight-up free). What I'm a little disappointed about now is the lack of discounted or free DLC. We had some good stuff early on (like the combo pack for Warhawk for free). But there has been very little since then.

I mean, not even a few half-price costume packs for the launch of LittleBigPlanet 2? Really? That seemed like a no-brainer PS+ offer to me. I have a son begging me to buy some for him but I just feel that those have to be PS+ offers at some point so I'm holding off.

That's been my single biggest issue with Plus. They had advertised "add-ons" as a feature before Plus even launched, and even mentioned it in a PS Store ad a few weeks ago. It was one of the bigger reasons I signed up. I was thinking we would get older stuff like the Killzone 2 map packs or MotorStorm track packs.

Yeah, I'm getting my money's worth as it is, but it still annoys me that they are completely ignoring add-ons.

Just to echo what you said, one of the main reasons I signed up was because we were supposed to get a free DLC pack every month and it's disappointing that they didn't follow through on that but ahhh well.

the 360 is the only platform that really offers good discounts on dlc. Even steam doesn't do it as well, partly because they don't have a monopoly on the content like Microsoft does.

And, well, the odd thing is that there has got to be lots of "old" DLC that almost no one buys any more (like those LBP custume packs). So you'd think it wouldn't cost them much to offer it, especially at a discount - that may actually spur more sales than it is getting right now. Plus Sony probably has a lot more control over that stuff than PSN games - yet they keep finding PSN games to give us for free and no DLC. Oh well, I'll keep looking ;).

Diamonds i dare say, Diamonds indeed

Man, Sonic is not holding up for me. Especially after getting a great free game like Stacking with beautiful visuals and creative gameplay. Not really looking forward to next few months of Genesis rehacks. Hope Dead Nation gets voted in for half price next week, I'll be all over that...

Personally I'm surprised they've offered no discount on any of the Pain or Motorstorm content. Those are pretty old and they could easily discount the pain add-on levels to half or better.

I can confirm that STacking does not stay active after plus ends. My account ran out and I could not play Stacking.

Interesting. Thanks. Have you tried the PS1 games/DLC?

I was under the impression that anything you paid money for, you keep, even if it was discounted. Anything that was free, goes bye-bye.

I did not, but I believe as Vader does that I cannot access them since I didn't spend money.

Yes...but Joystiq reported PS1 games working still and I never heard anyone say anything about the free DLC.

That is the general rule although, like people have said, there are some free games that you can still play. This is likely not intentional. This doesn't happen the other way though, everything you pay for, you keep.

When you add an item to your cart you'll sometimes get some blurb that you have to 'accept', those are the items that won't be available after your subscription ends
Has anyone tried Blast Factor yet?
I bought it awhile ago. It's all right, it's very arcadey in that you can't save your progress. I haven't played it too much though. Isn't there a demo?

Could someone confirm if Stacking is still available (until 3/15 per the OP)?

I am about to sign up for Plus, but want to make sure that I can still get Stacking for free.

Thanks!

It's coming down this Tuesday.

So next week PS+ gets the 50% off whichever games were voted on which is ok but there's also a timed exclusive Mortal Kombat demo which is even better.

Hmmm, maybe I should put something to make it easier to distinguish when that section is blank. However, I'm going to update it right now since the Blog posted about what's coming up.

Hmm, Dragon Girl theme? It's pretty funny that they keep having these themes(Argyle Girls, etc.) for free. I keep downloading them and my gf keeps getting irritated with the skanky girl themes on my PS3.

Mortal Kombat looks fun, looking forward to the demo.

Here's hoping Pacman is one of the 50% off games. I'm going to buy it either way, but it would be nice to save some money.

hmm i might have to bite on PSN+ then. If they really make exclusive demos it's gonna make signing up for PSN+ all the more tempting. i wasn't that impressed with it until lately. Especially with the kmart deals to give out discounted $50 PSN cards, hard to pass the subscription up now the more i think about it.

To be fair, it's really only exclusive for a week.

The MK demo is pretty cool. I'm hoping Dead Nation and Pacman DX end up getting the 50% discount. I don't usually buy PSN games but both of those are pretty fun.

I'm still pissed that a Genesis game was our PSN game for the month though, and it looks like that's going to be the case for the next five months too.
To be fair, it's really only exclusive for a week.
Hrm good point. But still the fact if PS+ members get to play this as an exclusive over everybody else puts the PS+ service up a couple of notches in my book. For a demo, a week is good enough for me anyway.

Wait, what the hell? Why are we getting a MAG Full Game Trial if we've had the MAG Demo for months now? If this means that instead of being able to keep gaining experience without leveling up, I get to play for an hour with everything, I'm gonna be pissed. I better still be able to play the level-8-only one, as I'm earning tons of levels in advance of whenever I buy the game. :p
