Showcase was the only real feature I wanted from leveling up so I'm all set.  Feels good to know that as I continue to hoard games I will keep leveling up.

Just got faerie solitaire Booster Pack...(without playing anything...) So seem Booster Packs are up...

Well after playing some more of Anodyne, I feel like my previous statement was rather off. I guess I was expecting the gameplay and story to evolve into something meaningful, as it does in almost all games of this nature, but at almost 3 hours in that is definitely not the case. It isn't really bad per say, but it does absolutely nothing new, and some of the levels are really annoying and require a lot of tedious backtracking. I still plan to finish it, as I'm a ways in and I'd like to write a full review, but right for those only mildly interested you might be better off just selling the cards and not bothering. Those on the fence, I would definitely not recommend it for more than $1. It is bundle fodder to the full extent of the word

I've been playing Anodyne. What a boring game! It gets better later?
No.

Anyone get a booster pack yet?  I just got one for A.R.E.S.  Not sure if I should unpack it and sell it or sell it as the booster pack.

Edit: Oooh! I jumped to level 13 from the hoarder badge.  Huzzah!

This game collector badge is confusing as hell. I have the "Game Mechanic" badge which is for 250+ games. According to my profile, I have 338. When I go to look at all my games in one big list, it says I have 364. And before I was converted to this new profile, I had over 500 games.

Also, I wonder how it calculates episodes/expansion packs. All those Telltale games for instance. Does each episode of Tales of Monkey Island count as 1 game? Or what about all those separate entries for games like Nexuiz, which has an entry for BETA and Stupid Mode? I wish I could remove some of that crap from my library.

Level 14, Director of Acquisitions. Damn. :D

So we're getting one random booster pack per game? That's it?

Anodyne is sort of interesting so far. I like 2deep4u games that actually have some gameplay to them. I wouldn't liken it to LttP though, I'd liken it to the original Legend of Zelda. It's very basic.

I'm like the most unlucky Steam card participant.  So far I've got all my drops from about 90% of the games with cards.  I've yet to receive a foil.  Also no booster pack yet.  Oh well - I've made a lot of cash selling my regular, non-foil cards so I can't complain.

Wow, I just went from Level 0 to Level 11. I did nothing but check my profile, which forced it to refresh and unlock the badge for game ownership.

I'm not sure how to feel about this.

Seems like you get +1 xp for each game in your library, and DLC doesn't count.

Since it *USED* to count on your profile, I can see how a lot of people are going to be confused by this...

I got the same damn card in Faerie Solitaire. All five drops were the same card. You're not unlucky at all.

Pretty sure the old game counting mechanic counted DLC as seperate games. If you clicked on all games it gave you the real number of actual different games on your account, which is the new number now.

Director of Acquisitions

Director of Acquisitions
741 XP
Unlocked: Sep 24, 2011 @ 9:07pm

666 games owned

jumped from 50 XP away from Level 14 to 9XP away from Level 17 :D

The best Booster Pack to get is probably Zack Zero. I think that might be the least game owned of the bunch released with Steam Trading Cards. Zack Zero regular cards are still around $3+ per.

I love the pricing on the DOTA 2 booster pack. You could probably buy 5 sets of all the cards for what those guys are asking.

EDIT: at the time that I posted this, the asking price for the booster was around $150.00.

You have to have crafted a badge to get the booster pack for that game, correct?
Incorrect. I got the ARES booster and I've only crafted a TF2 badge.

There's no mention of that.

"Booster packs: Players who have collected all the trading card drops they can for a game and have used Steam in the last week will randomly receive booster packs. These packs contain three additional cards for the game, and may contain foils. "

I merely jumped from lv7 to lv11 with my Director of Acquisitions badge. I like that I now get a showcase... I didn't realized I had a couple of 0% achievements from Saints Row 3 and and handful of 1% achieves from Magicka (both of whichI only played it for fun, not achieves -- and magicka only in SP, once, on the base game).

^_^ I never found Zelda 1 as great as others did at the time. I far preferred Zelda 2.

Just realized that the game collector badge replaces the previous "have one game registered on Steam" badge which was worth 100xp.  So I guess some people with less than 100 Steam games might actually LOSE a few levels.

My level shot up to 14, but like half my friends list did too, so I can't get too excited about that. What I do like is that the Collector showcase now properly lists the amount of games and dlc owned, rather than combining them into one large, but inaccurate, number.

I got one of Super Meat Boy and I'm selling it about 3$, I'm liking these cards even more now.

But, If I get all card drops, and don't craft a badge, I'll still be able to get the booster packs?

Just sold my ARES Booster for $1.72 ($1.50). I undercut the next highest seller by about $0.30, so it sold within 30 seconds. I quickly checked the profile of the guy who bought the pack, and saw that he opened it and didn't get any foils. He then put the cards up on the market to resell. At the prices that he's listing them, I'd say that he's gonna loose about 40 cents on the venture. But he was probably just taking a gamble that he'd get a foil.

Everybody check your profiles. They just added those badges based on how many games you have. I noticed something was weird when my Steam level jumped from 11 to 13.
Thanks for the heads up. I went from 6 to 9. 76 xp away from level 10. So should I try to craft a SMB badge? Level 10 still increases my rate of foil drops, right?

Nope. They removed that requirement a week and a half ago.

Foil drops are no longer tied to your steam level. Pretty much anyone can get a foil now.

As far as I can see it, the only advantage that there is to getting to level 10 is that you get a showcase on your profile, and you might get a booster pack drop.
