So is XCOM worth getting for $10? I don't really play many turn based games. I don't like Civilization, but for some reason, XCOM has me very interested.
To put bluntly YES! It is a great game (I played it on 360, but have heard it's better on PC) Very enjoyable, and approachable for people who dislike grueling difficulties. It also has grueling difficulty if you like that too. Just make sure to check options when choosing the difficulty (some other options are available.

Meanwhile... at Origin.....

Just a head's up, you can buy Faster Than Light directly from the dev and you get a steam key as well as a DRM-free copy. The game is discounted through the dev's store, but interestingly, it's only 50% off. I didn't check the price of FTL yesterday, so I don't know if that 50% off means that the dev is late in matching the steam price, or if the steam price is a mistake.
It was 75% off at the dev's site for some time, maybe a week or so, within the last month.

Please keep on not caring so there are less sellers in the market. It's very likely I'll be able to fund my entire Steam sale on card money.
This^, at this rate I'll probably be able to fund at least half of the summer sale out of card money.

I was a little disappointed at 400 Days not that its bad, my main complaint is that its really short about 85 minutes by my count. You get 5 playable characters and you spend about 15 to 18 minutes with each one and that is simply not enough time to get to know/like them, I felt the game just hurried me into the next survivor, pushing the story the story along at a too fast of a pace.
It was meant to be short, it wasn't meant to be TWD2. But I guess they could be just testing waters to see how to better develop TWD2 based on feedback (which would be great).

Okay, thanks! Probably going to pick it up then. I play most of my games with a wired Xbox 360 controller (old habits die hard). However, XCOM seems like the kind of game I would want to play with a keyboard and mouse. Which do you guys think works best for XCOM?

There is a demo you can try out. It was enough to sell it for me, but then, I like turn-based games.

Thanks for this. Was considering picking it up to play with family, but since according to you it doesn't sound like a proper Walking Dead experience (it was the way they developed the characters that made it so unique), I think I'll wait for it to be cheaper.

Ubisoft seems to be really stingy when it comes to putting their strategy games on sale. Anno is from 2011, yet they refuse to put it higher than 50% on any of the Steam sales. Heroes of Might & Magic VI is/was the same thing.
Seriously, fark Ubi. I'm mildly interested in HOMMVI, but not at these prices. It's not even like it got good reviews. And thus far I've managed to avoid their client and I'm not in any hurry to change that now.

Controller works extremely well, surprisingly

I was able to get a Toki Tori 2 coupon from Dr Sasquatch here yesterday, and today 5 more coupons popped up in my inventory. I'd like to return the favor, and give them out to people who want them. Just give me a PM if you're interested.
I got one of these as well that I don't need. "10% OFF Toki Tori 2+"

Says they gave it to be for being a fan of "Two Tribes" which I never even heard of but okay!

Anyways, no interest in purchasing Toki Tori so if anyone wants the coupon let me know. Steam name is the same as my username on here.

EDIT: Also got 4 coupons for "75% off on the title Nexuiz Duel Mode" and 1 for "75% off on the title Nexuiz 4-Pack.".

On the fence about getting X-Com: EU right now. Backlog is getting pretty large.

If I do end up picking it up, is the DLC worth getting as well?

OK, the dev has now matched the steam sale price. So anybody looking to pick up Faster Than Light, but can't due to the steam store being FUBAR, buy it through the dev instead.

Any thoughts on Antichamber? Daily deal so probably as low as it will go (obviously could be in a flash sale). Anyone played it yet?
It looks interesting and it's on my wishlist, but I have to stick to my 75% or bust rule on this one, especially since it has a $19.99 MSRP.

Looks like they just added Trading Cards to Saint's Row: The Third.

Community Choice Winner... coincidence? Conspiracy! :)
YES! More free money!

Damn it, I can't play any games at this rate, can't stop card farming.
I idled in games for about 12-14 hours yesterday. I felt just a little pathetic doing it, but hey free money is free money.

I would think Summer Sale cards will be worth a lot in say 2015... Once they are unattainable.
Yeah, but who knows what's going to happen to the cards after the summer sale? Maybe Steam decides to invalidate all of them and remove them from our inventories? It's a gamble.

Got the Fairy Bloom Freesia code, thanks!!

Also... more new card games:

The Walking Dead

Chivalry

Surgeon Simulator
I've been waiting for Walking Dead cards since this thing started. That's one I think I'll craft. I love the game too much not to.

Am I the only person in the universe who doesn't give a crap about these card thingies?
No, but I'm glad you don't care. Less sellers to worry about.

How much money are these cards worth? How much have you guys made by selling these cards over all?
Since this thing started, I've made about $60 and gotten at least 4-5 games out of the deal. Well worth it in my eyes.

Made my first purchase since the sale began. Surgeon Sim is mine. That game seems to ridiculous not to own.
My first purchase as well. I've had a few gifts given to me, but I broke my summer sale cherry this year.

Rush Bros. 2-pack is $3.74, not a bad price considering the game just came out about 6 or 7 weeks ago. The gameplay vids makes it look like a cross between Bit trip runner and super meat boy, both of which I liked so I might get this.
Spoder and I were debating picking this up, since we were looking at it when GMG had it for a little more during their 666 sale. It's rumored to get card support in the near future, so might be worth picking up in order to have a heads up on the competition once cards get added.

Please keep on not caring so there are less sellers in the market. It's very likely I'll be able to fund my entire Steam sale on card money.
I'm thinking so too. If card games keep getting added, I'm gonna have more money than I'll be spending during this sale. Fine by me.

Phew, all caught up. I also randomly got 3 Toki Tori 2 coupons in my inventory today. If anyone wants one, PM me.

Is anyone having trouble posting cards to the market?  I keep getting this error message when I try to sell a card:

"There was a problem listing your item. Refresh the page and try again."

I've used two browsers and the Steam client, all with no luck.  Any ideas?  (I haven't disabled Steam guard or even made any purchases during the Steam sale yet, so I can't think of any reason why I should be getting this error message.)

Does anyone know what the hell you get for crafting the Steam Summer Getaway badge? Do you get like anything different then you would a normal badge?

No, he can care. I encourage him to do so. As long as he's a buyer, and not a seller.

Can anyone tell me how large the Steam App is to download fully? I'm getting a nice PC later down the road and figure I shouldn't miss out on these sales and I have a data limit broadband right now.

Also, can I download the app later and install it on the new pc and download and play the games I bought before?

Thanks in advanced.

I've been running into this a lot. Sometime the cards post to the market anyway despite the error message. In fact, I've sold about four or five since the dailies flipped and I don't think any of them DIDN'T give me an error message. So keeping trying...

They tell you on the official website.

"Crafting the Summer Getaway badge (and other game badges) earns you tradable items like emoticons to use in chats or discussions and backgrounds to use on your profile. You can collect the set of cards five times to level up your Summer Getaway badge and earn more items. Each time you craft a badge you also earn XP which progresses you towards the next Steam Level."

As for me as long as badges just give you background, emoticons, and exp then I could care less. Selling allllll of them.

100 exp on first craft + a couple random emotes/backgrounds/etc

200 exp on second craft+ a couple random emotes/backgrounds/etc

I think it goes up to 400 or so? Not really sure.

Aww thats really lame, they should have made crafing the Summer badge sorta like the winter coal system where you had a chance to get a free game from making the badge, I don't think it's worth it at all now ><

If the getaway cards really, really crash (like under 20 cents a piece), I might just hold onto the cards that I earn (through voting & buying stuff) to craft a badge. If I can craft the badge for less than a buck, what the hell? Why not? It's not like I'll be able to spend all my card money this sale anyway. I'd only end up blowing that buck on Bumbledore.

Ugh, I have 4 cards to sell and none will post. All are showing up on my market page like they posted, but they aren't on the actual screen of the card, which is the one that matters.

so, is anyone else having issues getting checkout via paypal to work? It worked fine for me last night but now it won't let me buy surgeon simulator for the life of me. it's almost as if they don't want me to waste my 3 bucks.

You're not the only one. having this exact same issue, when I can actually get it to get through the step of submitting my cards to be sold. So very frustrating.

Yeah this happened yesterday too. Mine didn't show up on the actual list until like an hour later.

BTW, if you're having problems with TWD not launching, disconnect your controller. It causes the game to fail to launch.

I also had to go to thewalkingdead.exethen right click and choose properties. After that select the compatiblitly tab. At the bottom under privilege level check the box that says 'run this program as an administrator'.

I couldn't launch the game at first. I then unplugged the gamepad. then had to verify the integrity of the game cache. Then I had to 'run this program as an adminstrator'. Finally was able to get it to run.

HAHAHAHAHA

Alright, I'm farming cards for WD and my two new purchases, sold all the cards I plan to at the moment, and am done with the store until the next round of flash sales. I think I can finally start my day now. See you all in a few hours!

I had them at what was apparently the lowest point for 10 minutes with no sales while way higher priced ones were disappearing. I just can't get through no matter how many I put up.

It took me a couple of tries to add funds to my wallet using Paypal but it eventually went through
