If I had to get one Ys game which one should I get, I am looking for the most recent and most refined version I guess.
I would go with Origin, personally, but they're all very good games. Origin has 3 playable characters too (one is unlockable), which I thought was pretty cool.

Only 66% off for Ys? Not cheap enough for me - I was hoping for 75% off. :whistle2:(
Same. Bought the other Ys games for 66% and I've already played 1&2 on Wii (Turbo) and PSP, so I'm waiting for 75% or less.

Cards are too mainstream... I'm all about Steam Pogs now. ^_~
And so hath it begun, Pogs are back, stay tuned for Pog Wars

Optimist... blah blah glass

Pessemist ... blah blah glass

US Government, the glass has a leak! We vow to use to full power of the United States to bring this leaker to justice.
And they can't even fix the way Glenn Beck leaks when he's on TV.

Not sure if anyone is interested, but Kingdoms of Amalur Complete is available from Gamefly for $8 with the GFDJUL20 code. It uses Origin though, but I don't think its very likely that Steam will have a better deal than this on KoA Complete.

Is there a way to run and idle mutiple steam games at once to get cards? Just curious, thought I read something before saying you could.

You can use the Steam Achievement Manager but it doesn't really work that great for me with multiple games (seems like theres a limit or so).

Damn...everything I've voted for so far has lost.
Right? I voted for Shogun 2, I haven't played a Total War game in a while. Plus I missed out on Dark Souls, so I voted for that, even though I want to pick up Absolution before the sale ends. lol and I just about that on with the xbox live sale, what is wrong with me!

Apparently, the "if it's not a daily or flash, wait til the end of the sale" theory doesn't apply for day one.

Both The Cave and Item Shop were 75% off in in my top 5 pickups for the sale. I waited and now they are both 50%, even though they said 75% through July 22.

They'll probably make it back there eventually, but it's still disappointing.

It's more like "if it's not 75% off, a daily, or a flash sale, wait til the end of the sale". Most games/DLC that are 75%, I'll buy regardless if they're a daily/flash sale or not.

Yeah, I've been perusing steamgamesales frequently and it's been happening with a few games I was watching as well.

It's also available on GamersGate for $7.50 sale price

It's nice to wait on those though in case something shows up in the sale that may throw off the budget.

I am interested in Surgical Simulator 2013 and FTL. What's the general consensus on these being bundled? I know Hotline Miami was which is big so I assume FTL would eventually. I have other stuff to play right now, just now getting to Bastion. So just curious what others are thinking.

I was hoping that since this thread gets a bunch of traffic, you guys could help me with a game recommendation.  I think it was a year or two ago now that I picked up Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity. I picked up rebellion during this years winter sale.  Anyway, I love both games immensely and have been seeking something another game like them to try.  Ideally, I'm looking for something like Sins: RTS, space/planetary based, 4X, and full control over tactics and ship movement.  Thanks!

I would assume that both will be bundled eventually. I see FTL as a greater value for the money at $2.50. You can put many hours into that game as it has great replayability. Surgeon Sim will definitely go cheaper eventually. You will always have other stuff to play right now, haha.

gary's mod is worth it for sure.

So are any games worth picking up just to sell the cards for more money than the game costs? obv the market is flooded now, but saving the cards for down the line to dump off? what's the consensus on that? i see some foils sell more than what a game costs, but idk how rare that is. any consensus CAG?

For a person who enjoys playing user content, but doesn't enjoy making things. Is Garry's mod good? I'll bite if it is (I know it's probably been cheaper, maybe wait for valve bundle deal?)
(Edit) someone says it is worth it, but I need conformation for someone who dislikes creating things, such as Minecraft

Yes. There is a lot of user-created content or Garry's Mod (including many MP game types and variants.)

Back at E3 I traded in all my 360 stuff for a PS4 mostly due to their anti-consumer views and even though they've done a 180 I still refuse to support them but today I realized something I now no longer have a wired 360 controller and they're like $35! And a lot of the Steam games are compatible with the 360 controller and not much else unless you do some tweaking.

WIth that said. Is there ANY other controllers out there that are compatible with Steam without the use of 3rd party software. I have plenty of PS3 controllers.

It's been over a month since it was possible to buy a game and get back more than you paid for it after selling the cards. So I'd strongly advise against trying to do that. You should probably only buy games that you actually want to own. If the game(s) have cards, great. You can use them to partially subsidize the cost.

As for holding on to cards in the hopes of a future market rebound. There is usually a slight rebound after the initial market collapse about 6-8 hours after a game first gets cards. But once a game's had it's rebound, and it's cards drop below 25 cents a piece, they'll never recover. Especially if it's a game that a lot of people own. I'd say in general, the market for all cards are trending downward.

Foils are pretty rare. There's a reason that they're usually 5-10 times more expensive that the regular cards.

Look up Sword Of the Stars, It's turn based 4x but you have full control over your ship combat when they engage kind of like in Masters of Orion. The first one though not the second, the second Sword Of The Stars I hear is really bad.

Heh, you can tell that the BSI Summer Getaway wallpaper is the best of the bunch.  Despite being common and in greater supply, it still sells for more than most of the uncommons or rares.

Ah, so,gary's mod just got cards today. You'd recommend selling those cards ASAP? bc i figured it would be better to hold on to them until after the sale when so many people aren't buying the game at a discount, driving the price up. that's outsider logic anyway. toss those things ASAP like a hot potato?

I'd suggest buying the summer cards and crafting a badge if you can get them cheap enough [or in some cases free]. I ended up with a rare skyrim background and sold it for over $5 and also ended up with uncommon Bioshock one and it went for 2ish plus they usually throw in another summer card once you get a badge crafted.

Well in the case of Gary's Mod, the market is so darn low for those cards that it really can't get much lower. There probably isn't too much risk in holding on to your cards in hopes of a market rebound. Worst case scenario, you end up listing them on the market in a week or two for about the same price that they are now.

Well since there isn't too much else I'm planning on picking up this sale, went ahead and bit on Ys 1&2.  Going through my e-mail looks like I got Oath last summer sale for the same price and Origin for $8, so this works as a price point for me.  Plus always happy to throw some support to Falcom.

So, let me take a crack at the summer sale cards, come winter sale the cards will be worth a lot, and the items received by making a badge will be more expensive.

The only problem is that the Skyrim is pretty much the only way to break even/make a profit on that. A full set of cards goes for around $4ish, and the Skyrim BG is rare. Personally I'd sell the cards for a guaranteed $4 rather than take a gamble to maybe get around $7 at best, close to $2 at worst

You're absolutely correct. I probably just got lucky that I made a slight profit after buying all the cards to craft the summer badge twice. I also did a lot of refreshing to get the cards cheaper than they normally go for but that was a real pain in the ass because some people are much quicker than me. :(

There's been times I've refreshed on cards that go for 0.50 and some have shown up for 0.18 and I've tried to get it as fast as possible.

I'll go on record saying that I've played it once and then uninstalled it. It's sort of a make-your-own-fun game and I couldn't be bothered. I must be in the minority though.
There's a lot of pre-made content out there already. It's great if you have some mates who also have it, and who are willing to play/try out maps/modes with you. Not so great if you don't, but you should be able to find server/s for the more popular stuff.

Is this the cheapest Garry's Mod has been?
As far as I remember.
