eyebrow shrug brah

And look at all the people who just couldn't wait and bought it immediately... It's only like a week later and it's 50% off.
Lol. The only thing holding me back is that I kinda want it on GMG + the 20% off coupon.

Oh, that and also it's US only. Grrrrr... may need to fire up the VPN again

Does anyone know if it is?
If you read the bottom of the page, it says that it requires the steam client

Anyone know how gifting digital downloads works on Gamestop's website? Does the recipient need to make a Gamestop account or will they just get the Steam code in an email?

Sorry to ask again I'm sure, but is Borderlands 2 season pass worth it? It seems the price equals to the two major dlc and all the cosmetic stuff would be free after that?
Season Pass is worth it. It includes all the story DLC and the upgrade that allows you to level to 61.

I bring you all a belated, extensive review on Chivalry.

I should note that this was my introduction to the game: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=160350316

First off, it's more or less what I heard and thought it was. A medieval CoD. You choose one of four classes, man-at-arms (fast, can dodge, one handed weapons), archer (derp), vanguard (medium speed, huge weapons, sprint attack that is usually a one hit kill), knight (slow, high defense, big sword, only class with a shield), choose between a few different weapons that are only marginally different in execution, and at that point the game kind of boils down to a really simplistic system.

Are you using a man-at-arms? Run up to someone, hit them three times. Are you using a vanguard or a knight? Run up to someone, hit them twice. Are you using an archer? Hit them with two good arrow shots (overpowered), and if they rush you, pull out your dagger and hit them three times. It's really, really shallow. Yes, you can block (which, unless you have a shield, is a quick, timing based block that you can't hold up), and you can cancel your attacks mid-swing, but it's really just a walking up to each other and seeing who can hit the other guy first twice, or three times if you're a weaker class.

This would be fine, I suppose, but everything just feels kinda cheap. The graphics are okay, nothing special, but the movement and general gameplay just doesn't feel smooth. I don't even think it's the animations that are the culprit, things just feel choppy. The game, like I said, plays like a medieval CoD, but the problem is that it doesn't have near the same level of polish as CoD, and is so much shallower than CoD (which has a ridiculous level of customization and very tight gameplay).

And really, jump online and you'll just find yourself fighting five archers at a time. Strategy? Sprint at them, strafing and juking around like a kid jacked up on Mountain Dew, hope they don't headshot you, and then try to slash the shit out of them. But then of course, they can pull a dagger which is pretty much just as strong as the man-at-arms' weapons (almost no one plays the man-at-arms class, probably for good reason), and can block and attack not so much worse than you can, and if they hit you with any arrow while you were charging them, they've got a leg up there.

Within a handful of games, I pretty much got it down. People suck at melee combat and generally just button mash (which works many times, sense battling is like playing rock-paper-scissors, almost), so I cancel an attack and double-swipe them for a two hit kill, and hope that I don't randomly get instakilled by an archer. I'm certainly not coming from a negative angle because I'm finding the game difficult though. Quite the opposite, since I got MVP on my second TDM.

Lastly, the lag is weird. Your connection can be fantastic (50 ping or so), and the game will still spike and hang every so often, as everyone runs in straight lines, then suddenly warps back to where they actually are. Really annoying.

In the end, just not a very polished game that's shallow in pretty much every category. War of the Roses is a much smoother, well crafted experience with a high level of customization, solid combat, and better gameplay. It's harder, yes. It still has its lag issues and an abundance of archers (though they aren't nearly as overpowered), but as a whole it's a much better made game and more enjoyable experience than Chivalry.

But eh, many would disagree I suppose. I'm not much of a WotR fanboy. I've played it, gotten tired of it, and uninstalled it multiple times. It's not the greatest multiplayer game ever and it can get annoying, but Chivalry is just that much worse. If you got it for under $5, I still don't think you made that much of a misstep (perhaps I'm just saying that to make myself feel better), but otherwise, it ain't worth more than that.

But of course, which game has probably 1000+ more players online at any given time? Chivalry of course! Judging from the in game chat, I now know what CoD fanboys (and girls!) play when they're tired of gunning each other down.

So it looks like there was 4 dlc which added campaign content and would make it more expensive to buy individually than the season pass right? I just wasn't sure how many campaign dlc there was.
Season Pass includes the 4 campaign DLCs and the Uktimate Vault Hunter mode/level cap increase pack. The cosmetic items, both extra characters, creature slaughter dome and collector's edition pack are sold separately. You don't really need to get the cosmetic DLC with how many skins there are to unlock in the base game already, unless you think one looks really really cool.

Just so everyone knows, Gamestop doesn't let you see the Steam keys without installing their client anymore. I had to install it, then hover the mouse over the 400 days DLC to get the Steam code. they used to send it in the email, not anymore.

[customspoiler='Still True Yet Not New']Shogun's cards indicate that this current set is "series 1." This might be a glimpse into da future of cards, y'all.[/customspoiler]

mo money regardless

Easily. Riptide isn't considered to be a good enough game to be in huge demand at only 50% off.
I guess I just assumed enough people would already have L4D2 and they wouldn't vote for it again. The only choice would be WarZ

This is very unfortunate news.

{scratches off list}

Darn doohickey heck, I could have sworn that the others didn't say that.
The Portal 2 ones have since at least the 23rd of May (according to the Google cache of my badge page timestamped "23 May 2013 18:49:37 GMT.")

I guess I just assumed enough people would already have L4D2 and they wouldn't vote for it again
I don't think that makes much difference to what many people vote for.

Ugh... Left 4 Dead 2 won the vote. That game should be exempt from community votes forever.
I made the same assumption. Considering it's been on sale so many times... oh well. $20 for Riptide was still too much.

Enough with the third party launchers and hubs already. Christ.

Lame. Maybe Amazon or GMG will match it out of a sense of inadequacy.

I'm hosting a Monaco 4-pack at -66% off directly from Humble. It comes with pre-order bonuses and a DRM-free copy for Windows and OSX along with the Steam key. I'll just leave this here.

I call BS on the cards being random. I have had 7 Tomb Raider cards, 6 Torchlight II cards, and 2 or 3 of everything else (36 cards total.)

The Testament of Sherlock Holmes is 75% off at $9.99 but it was cheaper at Amazon. Just a heads up, the game has been updated and no longer has activation limits drm.

I bring you all a belated, extensive review on Chivalry.
Wow you are wrong about so many things in this post I don't even know where to begin!

The equipment actually make a much larger difference than you give it credit for, with a wide variance in range, damage, speed, as well as damage types. The combat is far from shallow. Sure you can go in as a Vanguard and spam the left mouse button swinging wildly hoping you kill a few people (and you probably will), but you'll be stomped by anyone who knows what they're doing. Aiming, judging distance, energy management, friendly fire, comboing, timing parries, kicks, feints, pokes, overheads and alternate swings all lead to much more skill based combat than you're making it out to be (which I can't blame you since you say you didn't play it very long and some of this stuff is nuanced). There is actually more swing variance and more precision aiming than War of the Roses has with the only thing Chivalry lacks being the ability to adjust your swing strength.

The graphics...yeah...it's Unreal Engine 3, almost every game with that engine has that same drab look to it. And even taking that into consideration most of the maps still don't look great. But it is an indie game with a small team so there's that to take into consideration. The gameplay and animations are very smooth though, and responsive as long as you're not lagging.

And now we get to the biggest part of your problem with the game. Stop playing TDM! The game is balanced around Team Objective and that is the main mode that you should be trying. TDM and DM are just spamfests, with no regard for self or team preservation, teamwork or skill. Duel mode is good to practice in though, and Last Team Standing could be good if they had better maps for it.

I have never had the rubberbanding lag issue you describe, so I'm going to assume it's either on your end or you joined a bad server. I mostly stick to the official servers though. The only lag issue I've ever had is once in a while there will be a de-sync between you, the server and the person you're attacking so an attack will go through them on your screen, but everyone else sees it as not hitting them. Basically the melee equivalent of when people complain about hit registration in FPS.

Anyway I hope you give the game another chance and I hope your opinion doesn't dissuade anyone else from trying it. If you want to play together sometime let me know, even better would be if a group of CAGs wanted to get together to play.

I'm having serious regrets about not jumping in on an RPG Maker group-buy. Would hate to buy individually.

One-line-review-time:

Monaco - Hilarious and frantic co-op heist action, best played in groups.

Whatever The War Z is called today - dull as dishwater, not so much "bad" as terribly uninteresting and lacking any real sense of threat or danger.

Mars War Logs - ploddy and uninspiring 3rd person action-em-up.
