So many people mocked everyone when we bought Van Helsing at 50% off, referencing the CAG Code of 75% or bust and yet here is seemingly EVERYONE jumping at Monaco for 50%...

Damn hypocrites!  :nottalking:

How does this happen every day for a week without some kind of effective calibration?

It's called piss poor customer service because they can get away with it. Until another store legitimately challenges Steam for their market share they know they can do whatever and get away with it. Same reason the iTunes store sucks in the same department.

Yep! ...and at least I can see the appeal of Van Helsing to the ARPG/Diablo-like crowd. I'm really not sure what the strong draw of Monaco is about... top down indie stealth game (with some Hotline Miami-stealth)... I mean it looks kinda appealing but not exactly a $7.50 "Shut Up and Take My Money".

Yeah I picked it up on the XBLA after the MS store point debacle and was not overly impressed with the game.

The co-op is the best part however which I assume is the main draw for most seeing as good local co-op (and even online) games are hard to come by these days.

Your right. It's not a $7.50 "Shut Up and Take My Money". It's a $5.60 "Shut Up and Take My Money".

Yeah im curious about this Monaco, looking for a good co-op game. Impulse 4 pack bought!

Also, I was on the fence on Van Helsing but i dont need another Diablo type game

Good point.

Incidentally, I hate the Steam client. I wanna bicycle-kick that POS right in the breadbasket.

So this was my first Steam Summer Sale and Its pretty dissapointing to be honest. I always heard how great this sale is and how games are extremely cheap but I think its just overhyped. The previous years my computer was garbage but the year I get a good computer the sales are bad. I have only picked up this sale The Binding Of Issac,Garry's Mod,Tomb Raider (1-3). Thats my little rant because Portal 2 wont go down to $2.50 ( I can dream).

Is star trek really as bad as everyone says? I like ST a lot and $7.50 doesn't seem too much. How is it compared to say dukenukem or colonial marines?

Also for fable 3, are the quest packs the only campaign addons and the rest cosmetic stuff and not worth it?

I'm going to pick up Star Trek despite the bad reviews on the game play. Always been a fan of the series new and old so $7.50 seem like a price point that I can be fine with even if its not a great game.

I enjoyed Star Trek for the few hours I tried it out (Redbox rental on PS3). I think it is pretty short because I think I got through a good chunk of the game and its pretty much just a run of the mill FPS set in the Star Trek universe, but after watching the movie it scratched an itch pretty well.

I guess you never had to suffer through the old steam client... It's currently a dream in comparison.
Still doesn't make it good. Could be worse? Yeah, we can say that about anything in this world.

With the Sale ending in a few days, what are my fellow cags thoughts on the sale so far. I know steam tries to implement some sort of "gimmick" into these type of sales, and as much as I like card money I wish they'd do a repeat of summer sale 2011 with tickets and daily achievements as it gave me something to do during the sale.

I agree. At this point in my CAG life I know I won't be buying much during Steam sales so achievement hunting would give me something to do besides complain.

That said, stuff like $7.50 Star Trek is the cheapest it has been as have other games, so the sale hasn't been a total dud. Just like a 15/16ths dud.

I tried to get into the card thing, but then I found 50 cents in my couch cushions and realized I'd be better of just scavenging that way.
Until I lose $100 plus in my couch cushion, I'm sticking to my cards.

Maybe it's a defective memory but I remember the whole ignored portion of the store being at its max deal in the past (75% usually), but this year the Daily/Flash/Community deals are priced aggressively while the second-clazz citizens languishing on my wishlist only offer abysmal discounts.

I wanted Rayman and Steam came through... with 66%. I'll take it...

Not buying anything today...maybe Rayman Origins but may just pick it up on the PS3 as price keeps going down for that reason. I also like that all the Elder Scrolls games are 40% right now....umm yay...I wonder if Valve even remembers that they were 75% off in one of the past sales. Kind of wanted Morrowind....oh well. A lot of this sale is kind of half arsed in a way. Steam doesn't seem to be paying attention to old discounts most of the time so they just choose whatever looks OK for this sale. Would make sense to at least have something close to a price of a last sale for some things at least. Bleh overall....I still bought stuff but not really feeling most sales....at least be the amount of a previous sale...sigh.

Man Steam broke to new extremes today, not even a "server under heavy load" message, just a blank white screen :headache:

Hope you've been saving your allowance ;)

You know what's a pain... adding the 111 DLCs I don't own to my cart individually.

My pain is constant and sharp, and I do not hope for a better world for anyone. In fact I want my pain to be inflicted upon others. I want no one to escape.

After many years of steam sales, I'm making one change... I'm no longer telling myself "wait for the steam seasonal sale" when I see good deals ahead of the steam sale.

My opinion that the big steam sales are reliable for DLC rings truer than ever. This sale has mainly been about select bits of DLC for me.

If I'm not mistaken, don't the publishers have a hand in how much games go on sale? Either way, I think Skyrim and the expansions have stayed high since the game is still quite popular. It's the "Call of Duty" effect (those games never go on sale for any sort of major discount).

I'm guessing that the Skyrim sale is not a franchise sale, so Oblivion/Morrowind just have the normal discount. I'm sure those will be on sale on Steam before too long, if not during the summer sale, then during normal times. They seem to get deeply discounted a lot.

Dragonborn still only -30% as well >.<
Like you, I just saw it was 50%. I'm probably going to go ahead and grab it. I've been wanting to play it for awhile.

Also confused, Kerbel Space is features today but it isn't a daily? So tomorrow?
Pretty sure Kerbal was a daily already.

Monaco or Trials Guys?
It depends on what you like, right? Personally, Trials appeals to me more and it's a great game with loads of content.

I'm not too crazy about the concept of the flash sales. It takes some of the fun out of the sale, because by the half-way point, you end up with lot of repeats. I'd rather that they use the flash sales to advertise some smaller or older titles.

In terms of deals, they have been fair. For me, the biggest issue is that I have most of the better deals already (or I'm waiting for them to drop below $10), so there wasn't much for me to buy this time around except X-Com.

I can't bring myself to buy Dragonborn & Dawnguard for $20, when they were recently $16, doubly so since Gaben hasn't treated me right. But I know I tend to be more principals-driven than most.

I prefer Summer 2011 to this sale. I feel like the tickets were a great way to get ppl to replay games they already owned and convinced them to try games they might have passed on. The tickets gave you a more tangible reward. Granted, you couldn't turn them into money like you can the trading cards, but you also didn't have to put in the extra effort of selling, waiting for boosters, trading, etc.

All that said, I think the sale itself was pretty solid. I picked up a decent number of games I'd been holding out on, so it was a success in that sense. Still hoping S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Gemini Rue show up before the recap.
