You youngsters crack me up.
I remember shelling out $50 for Pac-Man for the Atari 2600 on release day.
Yes, it was crap. But, it was a huge upgrade from my Sears Pong.
Thanks for the compliment. However I dare say it was chopper command when I was very young that started this whole obsession...

GOW season pass not worth it full price, maybe worth biting now I'd say, I got full price to discover you have to GRIND just to get the New equip

Yeah 1800 will be at minimum 50% off the 4 DLC packs when price individually. The first 2 are 2000 and the 2nd two should be at least 800 each. 3600 total so a 50% discount is fine by me. Could it go to 1200? Sure but I am not taking that risk. I doubt we will see more than a 50% off sale on this stuff in the next year. The skins are still too much even at 1800 though.

Agreed. 1200 for the skins would be fine.

I'm buying it right now. I wanted it for a while, but when I found out there was a chance it would go on sale for these deals, I figured I could wait a bit more.
I honestly never thought any of the season passes would ever go on sale.

So I am pumped to get it right now.
I'd like to get the weapon skins, but fuck that. 1800 points is still too much for weapons skins. They should have been in the game to begin with, but I think if I HAD to pay something to get them...400 points would be do-able? Still too much, but I think I would get them all for that. The current price is dumb though and I can do without them.

Those skins are ON THE DISC! Even 400 MSP would only be parted with through gritted teeth...

You can unlock plenty of adequate skins as it is anyway.

I'll be in for a season pass since apparently I've made Gears 3 my MP game of the moment. Plus I wanna play as Raam and experience any other cool stuff Epic has in store.

We got a Sears Telegames system in 1979.
It came with the game Combat.
At this rate i'm expecting Call of Duty Elite to be on Sale next
Keep dreaming brah. None of the Blops map packs have been on sale. You think(EXPECT) elite to go on sale after 6 weeks? I hope(not expect) that you don't come in here crying tomorrow when we "maybe" get some blops packs discounted and hopefully CoD classic for 400 points and Elite isn't discounted

Gears pass is the first thing that's tempted me this whole sale, but I don't think I'm going to pull the trigger. Been burned out on gears ever since re-playing the campaign on insane a while back, and Battlefield 3 has since taken over as the go to multiplayer game for me and my friends. Plus, the relative frequency of Halo map pack sales throughout the year makes me think this will be discounted again. Also there's the inevitable GOTY edition to consider, which may have all the season pass content plus more.

I got GOW3 a few weeks ago, haven't finished the campaign since I haven't had much time for it, but I'm planning on getting into the multiplayer. I was a big big fan of the 1st and 2nd.

What does the season pass offer? What content is out for it so far and what is planned?

2 packs are out now: Horde Command Pack (800 points) which is mainly stuff added to multiplayer and Ramm's Shadow (1200 points) which adds some multiplayer stuff and a new campaign that focuses on both gears and locust.
There are two more packs coming the next one Fenix Rising coming out next month that features more multiplayer stuff.

Thanks. I'll look into both packs that are out now. I thought I had read somewhere that Ramm's shadow wasn't included in the season pass.

I saw its worth it to get the Season Pass now since it is 200 less than the two packs out now and you still get two dlc packs later on.

how about for those of you that play gears3 multiplayer, but haven't purchased the map packs yet?

have you had issues finding games to join or is there a separate playlist?

Gears 3 season pass on sale tomorrow for 1800, another slap to the face to people who bought it on first day. They should give more to first day purchasers than people who get it on sale. Too bad if they ever do something nice to first day purchasers, I won't get jack shit because last time I had trouble with purchasing the RAMM DLC and trying to get my 1200 points refunded, MS gave me this bullshit about how I never purchased the season pass at all. Took two tries and they finally caved in and gave me my 1200 points back giving me a warning that they can't do refunds like that. Sucks the big ones to the hardcore fans out there buying season passes on day one.

It looks like you can't purchase a damn thing anymore on X-Live because it'll be on sale in the next three to four months now. This is what I've been doing but knowing that I love Gears, I had to get the season pass day one.

the only dlc map related was the free one. Ive been playing alot lately and it seems that the dlc maps all go in a row back to back once one is locked in. You should have no problem getting to play the maps. Might take a match or two.

I will ask again:

If you can't place a value on being the first to own/play something as well as the time you had it until it went on sale, why are you buying early and at the launch price?

Last edited by a moderator:
Was hoping that the Season Pass would be 33% off, but I definitely expected the 1800 price after Forza. Definitely going to pick it up; I learned my lesson to wait for Gears stuff to go on sale after the All Fronts Map Pack for Gears 2, and then playing it very little, and then it being available for 1/3 of the price in no time :)

Alright, in for the Season Pass. Can't pass it up at 1800 when I was willing to pay 2400 but didn't get around to it.

Now the question is do I purchase the Gold Lancer prop? I've never purchased any avatar gear. I generally think it's a waste of money. But with it being delisted soon and unavailable, I suddenly feel the need to purchase it. What the heck is wrong with me?

I think the one reason why people who bought the GOW3 Season Pass early
deserve to be pissed is that not all the DLC has been release yet. Basically they got the first DLC 2 months before those buying it on sale and RAAM's shadow 2 week early. Unlike some other Season Passes like LA Noire and MK that had all the content released by the time the pass went on sale. I know they are doing this to keep interest in the game and get the fence sitters but the timing is a bit crappy for the early buyers.

THIS. Even being a hardcore Gears fan I'm also a CAG. The Horde pack was pathetic and while I enjoyed R. Shadow DLC I easily could have waited the what? Couple weeks for this sale and saved a good amount of points. Neither of the first 2 pay for DLCs were must have early purchases.

I think the only problem in this case is the amount of time you get to use it early before the sale. 2 month for one, 2 weeks for another and nothing for the final 2. I am happy to be on the right side of this deal but I understand the discontent some are feeling.

This type of business model is going to see decreasing returns if they keep following this time frame for putting passes on sale.

Very true. You should make this your sig haha.

Also, your math looks correct to me.

But no, definitely grabbing it before MS tries to pry it out of my cold, dead hands.

Exactly! I really don't think season passes should go on sale tbh with you. They should just put the DLC on sale individually.

Thanks for checking my math.

I'll leave it at this: I'm sure everyone can now safely say "Wait for when season passes to go on sale" when they launch.

Eh, CAGs are in the extreme minority of gamers. I bet most gamers don't even know about this one-day sale, and of those that do, many probably don't even care that the price dropped after they purchased the Season Pass.

Remember, most CAGs think that Call of Duty map packs are a ripoff at $15, but Activision does insane business on those whenever they're released.

But I empathize with everyone who feels ripped off on the Gears 3 Season Pass. I feel the same way whenever I buy something and find it cheaper later. But as a CAG, you have to figure you're going to win more than you're gonna lose. ;)
and I still made a f-ed up sentence....
Its the internet...If I wrote this way for work I would have been fired by now.;)
i can't believe some of you haven't played red dead yet, how many games of the year awards does it have to win to peak peoples curiosity? it's been out since may 2010
It certainly piques my curiosity and has since I received it for Christmas last year, but I had a hunch the PS3 content would make it to 360 and I'd been waiting around for that. Then it did... but only in the form of the Game of the Year Edition. I'm holding out hope that they'll eventually put the damned thing (and hardcore mode) on the marketplace so I can finally knock it all out in one go.

I have no doubt that it's worth the playthrough even without the other content - and I'll admit it's a petty gripe - but I have plenty to keep me busy in the meantime. And no, at this time I can't really justify splurging on a game I already have just to have access to that tiny bit of additional content. Unfortunately.

As for the GoW3 pass - very tempting, but I think I'll use what points I've got on ITSP, Bloodrayne, and maybe Renegade Ops. I can either wait for another sale on the pass or bite the bullet at full price later when I finally get around to Gears (and hopefully better paychecks).

I am going to monitor this thread to see how the community reacts. So far kind of mixed.

That's what I'm doing with the SR3 season pass. I'm not quite sure what that even includes, so I didn't bother with it at launch.

Also, the Gold Lancer (and all guns) are being delisted after 12/31/2011 not 12/31/2012. That would be a hell of a notice!

Anyone know if there has been a list compiled of all the soon to be delisted items?

http://forums.epicgames.com/threads/872831-Season-Pass-25-off
I'm still not sure that's a good barometer, as I doubt the average Gears 3 gamer goes to Epic's forums. Hell, I'd bet the average gamer doesn't even know Epic Games is the developer. In short, I think the average gamer is dumb and uninformed.

There are also people on there who are angry because the weapon skins pack dropped from 3600 points to 1800 points. That's a much bigger price drop (1800 vs. 600 for the Season Pass) and is more of a "luxury" item. Anyone who essentially wasted 1800 on a "luxury" item would understandably be upset.
Anyone know if there has been a list compiled of all the soon to be delisted items?
Yeah, this would be really helpful. I was wondering if the Halo laser sword is on the list the other day when it was 120 points.
