I think people are looking at it the wrong way.  While I'm sure adding extra drops would work as an incentive for people on the margins it also raises the chance that people will need to buy less cards.  Let's face it, the whole trading card thing is marketed towards people obsessed with gamification, collecting, and raising arbitrary internet levels in a social media platform.  When people are paying $30ish for Triple Town Foils knowing that in order to complete the full set they'll need... $350-$400... yeah... on fake internet cards? We aren't dealig with rational people.

Yeah, I don't see them adding drops per games, that would really kill the market. I see a slight increase in foil drop rate. Like .00001 percent up to .00002 percent.

??? Why are you hating on Really Big Sky? It's a fun (and accessible) procedurally generated twin-stick shump. It really should be played with a controller (obviously).
Speaking purely for myself here... it's one of those rare games that had decided it won't run on my PC. Black screen. Crash. I hate it for that.

I had fun looking at RBS gameplay videos while selling my trading cards though. ;)

How would it kill the market? The key is adding cards at a rate that is lower than the expenditure in cards needed to get to the next level that adds cards.

Because there would only be an x number of times you would need to level up to get all the cards from a game without needing to trade or buy more. Or if you only want to craft badges on certain games one level up would give you like X amount of new cards from all your games you could just idle and trade for the ones you want.

The people that are level 28-30+ baffle me, especially those that have full foil badges. You'd have to spend hundreds to max out your level because of the foils. It's seems a little foolish to go balls out right now, maxing out everything, when the trading cards are only in Beta.

Alas, to each their own.

There are folks out there who spend upwards of ten plus hours a day doing nothing but playing the Steam market like the shock exchange so that's what enables them to do that.

Have my triple town foil listed at $29.99, there are still only 2 on the market including mine. I got $5.95 for my other 5 cards so I made a profit regardless of what happens with my foil. Good move buying the game, very tiny risk and it paid off.

Mine sold when I was sleeping.  It seems like overnight hours (relative to the United States) are better for card prices from a seller's perspective.  Perhaps I could have gotten more if I held out but, if anything, the prices will just drop as more people decide to take the 'risk' at $5 (which isn't much of a risk even at a worst case scenario you pay like $1 for the game) and when that Amazon bundle goes live.  Grab your cash and get out of the market!

I've seen some people at 40-41 now. I just don't know why...

With duplicates, you couldn't really guarantee getting every drop you want.

And it wouldn't be an extra card per level. It'd be something like an extra card at level 10, another at 15, etc. Put those goals quite a bit away where people will need to buy cards and craft badges to get there, so it acts as both an incentive and a sink.

There's no risk selling them atm.. but that may change. I made $5.08 (after fees) and have 2 cards left to sell. One of them is a foil, and I've got one more drop left to get. So yeah..

EDIT: Sold all of the cards except for the foil. $9.38 total.

Cool. Bought Triple Town for $4.99 from Amazon. Made $7.22 via the Market selling the cards. :bouncy:

Congrats on selling the foil for so much. I have to hope the people who are buying these foils at such high prices are simply wanting to resell. But it does seem Steam has tapped into a marvelous market of money-spending achievement whores. It's like if you could buy XBLA achievements. Luckily for Valve, I would think the majority of major Steam players are adults with dinero.

Made $6+ from selling four of the triple town cards. Still have a regular one to sell and a foil one. Trying to get $15 out of the foil, though not sure if thats asking to low.

Agreed with everyone else about cards only being good to sell now. Of course, if everyone thinks that, who are we going to sell cards to? Once the price on them crashes because supply far outstrips demand, they won't even be worth collecting/trading.
Yeah, this is what I'm afraid of. Valve has created a system that gives you no incentive for actually collecting and crafting with the cards. The only point is to sell them. At some point, people are going to see how pointless the system is and stop buying, and when that happens, the market might just asplode.

I didn't get a foil. Never safe to bet on that. What seems like a good thing right now is that you'll make a little more than you paid for the game.
I didn't get a foil from TT either. I have, however, more than recovered the cost of the game. I think the price is going to drop on it fast once people realize it is on sale on Amazon.

My experience was no foils in TT.  6 cards.  I might get $6 out of them when they sell.  Maybe less.  Price is falling. So essentially I converted Amazon credit to Steam Wallet and got a free game out of it.  Not the worst thing in the world, but not that great either.  Prices on cares are falling quickly.

The price for my care never falls.

I also got no foils from TT.  I've sold 3 cards and have the other 3 on the market.  Will probably net about 8 bucks, which will cover this purchase and my loss of like 10 cents on Cubemen 2.

Man, we are REALLY getting into cheapass territory here.  I spent considerably more than this on lunch today.  But hey, I'm in it for the fun of gambling and "free money"...

Yeah, but the price for Drabelincoln's care kept falling to undercut mine. Finally undercut him and sold off my last card. I think I made a $1 over what I paid for it and free game.

Good deal. Seems like it varies depending on the cards. Some (pretty much all the ones I had) were only going for $1 max. Others are closer to $2.

Also, for what it's worth Triple Town is pretty fun. Variation of the match-three genre that gets increasingly hard as you get higher tier buildings. There's also some aesthetic town building thing like Farmville but I basically ignore it.

Prices for some of the cards on TT are quite high atm. Just sold Cathedral for almost $3 and made $7.90 off the cards with one drop remaining. No foil though...

Does anyone know where I can buy Amazon credit via PayPal? I wanna buy TT but i don't got a credit card/
You should apply for a PayPal debit card if you don't already have one. That's how you can use your PayPal balance to buy on Amazon.
Not avail in Canada unfortunately.

Alternatively, if someone wants to buy it for me I'll instantly pay back with PayPal.

ugh, I guess I better hop on the triple town train before it's too late. At least it's a game I actually like, and I have $5 amazon credit sitting in my account. Still feels like I'm overpaying though, but we'll see if I get lucky with a foil ;)

anyone got the start options to run TF2 in the background with no gui?  Guess its time I try to level up to 10 so hopefully I can get lucky with foils next drops

ha was i undercutting you?

i dont even look i just undercut whoever

just trying to recoup my money back on this retarded shit now

My foil sold all told I made about $21 off the TT cards. $17 if you minus the cost of the game. Great deal since I enjoy TT anyway.

i just read the last couple of pages and have literally no idea what anybody is talking about. sweet.

I'm afraid Valve might have me by the balls.  I just coughed up $13.75 at Amazon for the bit.trip collection despite already owning beat and runner 1.  I've been wanting runner 2 since it came out, and figured I could make $5 off of the cards to drive down the price...which is still way more than I wanted to pay, argh.  Now I have three copies of the free indie promos too.

Oh well...here's hoping for a foil.

I've done numerous games all at level 10 and only got one foil. TF2,HL2,L4D2,Portal2,ReallyBigSky,BL2,CS:GO. Cards all sold for .50-1.50. One foil netted ~10$. Not the best odds on foils for me. I wouldn't buy a game hoping for foils.

It rubs the shift key on its skin, else it gets the hose again.

All this silly Steam the TCG has buried the real issue of *outrage* today... the CAG favicon changed from the old "CAG" one to Cheapy's severed head.
