I'm not certain on this, but I believe that under the new CBA Iguodala cannot be traded for 6 months. My guess is Thompson+Bogut to LA for D12. Although, I got to believe that Houston is the front runner at this point.
I'd like for the Lakers to do that one trade with Golden State that Bill Simmons tweeted earlier today. Something like a couple of expiring contracts, a first round pick, and Thompson for Howard and Artest. But it probably won't happen. I'll just be glad once Howard is gone. I never liked that poser and he's past his prime and has no love for the game. Addition by subtraction.

Good catch. Though I get a feeling Lakers want to get Barnes more than Thompson, but better for them to accept Klay than loose dwight for nothing.

I don't think Iron Shiek's opinions carry much weight in basketball when his expertise lies in greased up men mounting each other.
The Rockets are reportedly already trying to get a deal in place that would send Asik and others (potentially Jeremy Lin) to the Hawks for Josh Smith.
They're going to need a PG (maybe Jack) but otherwise it's a pretty decent roster. The West is loaded, so they'll be a contender but I'm not sure they are better than OKC, SA, LAC, Memphis, or GSW.
lol at bill simmons saying lakers should just blow everthing up and try to win around 15 games next season for a chance to get a top 4 pick. And I agree with him. Sucking for 1 season to get a player that could possibly end up being the future face of the franchise for many years and win ring/s in the process is worth the gamble.

I agree its unbelievable how many teams will tank next season.. But Its going to be really difficuly for Celtics to tank with Rondo, Bradley and Green in the line up on the east conf. Unless everybody in Celtics franchise collectively agrees not give a F about the 2013 season, its almost impossible for them to miss playoffs lol.
And the Lakers will get one of the top picks if they do their part... Because Stern 2.0 will help them.

Calderon would have been great for Houston. Doesn't turn the ball over, doesn't require the ball to be in his hands all that much, and is an excellent shooter. Good pickup by Dallas.

You must not pay attention or something. Everyone except Nash comes off the payroll next year. There is absolutely no logic to cutting Bryant and paying him 30 million.
Lol Asik already said he has no plans to play behind Dwight and i dont blame him 1 bit. Dwight took his ball and went home and couldnt handle the big stage where the big boys roam. And to think this entire situation could have been avoided if he didnt pick up his player option and denied himself to go to the place he wanted to be this entire time in Brooklyn.

Asik is coming off his best season and is actually a huge trading piece for the Rockets right now, so it doesn't really matter. Even if he stays, Dwight could play the 4 and then it would be the Twin Towers v.2. Howard has everything he needs here in Houston to be successful.

I don't think dwight left LA because "he can't handle the pressure". The dude other than his laker stint has been the guy on the franchise. He wants to be the guy. Dwight knows his years are limited and has no time for a rebuilding, and if he wants the best situation to win now while also being the face of the franchise the best place to sign with is the rockets.

They can't play Smith, Dwight, and Asik at the same time, offensive spacing would be atrocious. If Smith is acquired, Asik absolutely has to be moved.
asik will have no problems finding another team. maybe the spurs can trade for him, and dump tiago splitters . LOL

I'm completely aware of this. I wasn't talking about all 3 of those guys on the floor at the same time, just Asik and Dwight. I'm sure if Houston gets Josh Smith, Asik will actually be part of that deal.
idk through out the season it just looked like he just doesnt want to play with Kobe and on the D'antoni system that doesn't emphasize defense. Seems Kobe wants to be the only alpha dog, and not share the leadership with someone else. While Dwight thinks he is a franchise player is not OK being one of Kobe's sidekicks. Though on the grand scheme of things I think Dwight and D'antoni (and the guy who wanted d'antoni) are to get most blame. Well, it could be a blessing that Dwight did not ended up staying in LA. Lin might be gone too, both him asik will be getting $14.9 in 14-15 season. And there was a lot of times where Bev looked like a better PG than Lin.
I also have doubts about Mchale's head coaching..

mchale will be gone, if the rockets does not get far into the playoffs in the next few seasons. I would hire lionel hollins right now, if he is still available. Instead of sticking with mcfail. You are saying dwight howard is past his prime? more like kobe is past his prime, that ball hogger has been on the decline the last few years. Yet he is still jacking up shots like he is in his prime.

Lin is going to be a lot harder to get rid of though. He's coming off a very lackluster season. Unless there's a team out there that wants him, the only way I see the Rockets unloading Lin is if he's packaged together with Asik.
Everyone except pitfallharry is talking nonsense. Kevin McHale has had nothing but success here in Houston. He led the Rockets to a winning season in the lockout year, and even though he had to deal with a major family tragedy this season, McHale came back to coach them yet again to a winning record and the playoffs. And now he has Howard to work with. What do you do when you have a big man who needs to work on his post moves? You get him a head coach who happens to be a HOFer and one of the best post players to ever play the game to teach him.

The poison pills in Asik and Lin's contracts make them hard to trade .
Also twin towers wont work since neither guy can space the floor. And Dwight isnt the man, the beard is.
Edit: Just because someone is a great player and has a winning record doesn't mean they are a good coach or great basketball mind. Del Negro won 56 games this year and got crushed. Avery Johnson had an amazing winning percentage with the Mavs and isnt a great coach. 45 is terrible owner. And McHale wasnt very good during his tenure with the T-Wolves.

You completely misconstrued what I said. Did I even say McHale was a good coach? No. I simply stated he has been successful in Houston, which is a fact. Another fact is that he's been in Houston for only 2 years now, and each season both the team and their record have surpassed expectations. I think the way players of past and present speak about McHale is enough to go on that he's at least a decent coach. Del Negro didn't get "crushed", they just chose not to renew his contract. And Avery Bradley? Really? If you wanted to use somebody to support your point better, you should've used the firing of George Karl. 45 wins is pretty good actually when you're literally away from your team for an ENTIRE MONTH. Wait till the guy actually messes up in Houston before you start busting his balls.
And now with Howard in the picture, McHale actually has someone with who we can bestow his expertise on. Both Kevin Love and Al Jefferson can speak to that.

jarrett jack is a bit underrated. he is pretty good point guard. Good pickup for cavaliers as a backup point guard, especially with the cavaliers brittle/ injury prone point kyrie irving.

Del Negro did get crushed. People spent all season shitting on his ability and the second they were sputtering after the 17 game win streak they was talk of firing him.
Avery Bradley is a player and not currently a coach. Avery Johnson is a good example, because his teams did very well in Dallas, but he was not up to the task of being a good coach. The NBA rigged the 06 finals, but Avery sure shit the bed when things started going downhill. His biggest failure was getting Cubes to fire the sports psychologist he had on staff.
George Karl hasn't gotten out of the first round more than once in a decade.
Just because McHale hasn't had a chance in Houston doesn't mean that he is somehow going to be some uber success. Do I think he is smart and has a good basketball mind? Yes, but that doesn't make him a good coach. The coaches listed above all were great in the regular season, but all have far more bitter failures than success in the playoffs. All should have done more with the teams that they led than they did.
