Official NHL 12 CAG Team - We're Back Baby!!! WifeBeaterz on Parole!

I just can't keep up with flash sales anymore on Steam. I'll be on at 8-9 ish if anybody wants to play till 11 ish.
The flash sales last 8 hours and the "daily" sales actually last 48 hours (ie. Surgeon Simulator is part of today's sale...but Antichamber from yesterday is still on sale for another 18 hours). It's a lot of stuff going on, but it's not terrible to keep up with. Once you block out all the worthless crap that they try to trick you into buying, it's not that bad, lol. Now, keeping up with this card marketplace stuff...that's freaking ridiculous. I've gotten a few cards from Euro Truck already, and just undercut the lowest card by a penny. Just want to get rid of them and make whatever change back I can. Trying to actually "follow the market" is crazy.

I do have to say though, being able to stream radio stations while playing Euro Truck is enjoyable as hell, haha. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for AAC streams (which a lot of local stations use now thanks to iheartradio), but I was able to add a classic country station from here in Nashville. I feel like a real truck driver now, lol. There is just an "import from internet" button that lets you add a bunch of basic internet only stations though. And that's pretty cool. Delivered my first shipment of fertilizer and took for fucking ever trying to back it in, lol. Damn trailer wants to go the opposite direction of where I'm steering every 3 seconds.

And the way traffic reacts to you is very realistic too. I was driving with a double yellow line, with a line of cars behind me. Then, as soon as it changed to a dotted line, this fucker darts around me to pass. I thought about running his ass off the road, lol. Cars will actually cut you off and just swerve in front of you sometimes too. People drive just as shitty as in real life.

See, EA. That's what "sim" actually means! ;)

Lol, I remember when I did the tutorial, it took like three times longer to back the truck up than it did to actually get to the destination.

Yeah. And it kept showing the screen of "You can skip backing it in if you want..." and I'm like "fuck you! I'm backing this bitch in." 20 minutes later, it's like "Good job. Detach trailer." and I'm like "I don't remember the controls anymore!" lol. It's funny how such a simple task can make you feel like an idiot and it gives you an appreciation for why you see trucks backing in so slowly...because if you go too fast, you'll jack knife yourself and run the entire semi up under the trailer, lol. <3 Realism.

Farming is hard, yo!

It's hilarious that this game has co-op (not to mention steering wheel support. I'll have to hook up my Logitech wheel, haha). We also have to think of a good name for our farm.

We played NHL for a while. No Gary. So, then we started plowing.

So tempting, I barely followed the Steam deals this year cause of work. Last year I went crazy. Also, played cry of fear for 5 minutes. First and last time playing that game. I just could not stand it at all for some reason.

I decided to bite on Arma II: Combined Ops. I've heard DayZ can be kind of buggy, but it looks good. I do not like that the zombies are fast...because that shit just isn't fair, lol. But the idea of needing to keep track of your hunger and hydration levels is pretty cool.

And yeah, Cry of Fear is supposed to be weird and offputting. And by yourself, it can be kind of hard too. It's better playing co-op.

So far in today's run Brandon has broken a rib and wasted an hour arguing with me over which way to go. I think I know who's gonna get it first.

Great, now Alan has Cholera and Gary has a fever. Do you guys want to die on the side of the road?

Dang it Rob, I better not be used as a sacrifice due to my illness so you can make a narrow escape from a flock of zombies.

Also, mighty disappointed Monaco wasn't voted into the deals. Hopefully it will be a daily or flash one of these days

Well, at least it doesn't seem like I've been a whole lot of trouble, lol.

Also, looks like a simulator showdown going on for the community vote. I'll be kind of surprised if Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 wins...so, there's a good chance of either Euro Truck Simulator 2 or Farming Simulator 2013 going on sale again. Both are very good times...and we always need more farmers. I think we have an opening for someone who is good at milking things.

Kinda weird they didn't have a "serious" sim in place of Roller Coaster Tycoon to round out the options.

And if you ever figure out how to play Day Z properly, let me know.

Here's my experience in a nutshell the 10 or so times I've played it:

1) Spawn

2) Run in a random direction for 15 minutes, hoping I will eventually find a town

3)

a) Get killed by random zombie. Thanks for playing.

b) Cant find a town, run in a different direction for another 15 minutes, still no town, rage quit game. Thanks for playing.

c) Find a town. See step 4

4) Loot town, Find gun

5)

a) Get killed by zombie in town. Thanks for playing.

b) Get killed by another player in town who has a bigger gun. Thanks for playing.

c) Set off in another direction, hoping to find another town. Repeat from step 3.

My Metro order finally got canceled too. Even more boo-urns.

Yeah, it took me for freaking ever just to get the DayZ mod installed right because apparently the one on the Steam store is a piece of crap. It installs, and then starts giving you various error messages when you try to load it. I ended up using the DayZ Commander program and I was able to join some servers directly through that.

My experience so far has pretty much been exactly what you described though. I spawn somewhere, see a house or other building in the distance, head toward it hoping to find supplies, come upon zombies outside the house who run so spastically, they're almost impossible to aim at, take some damage, finally kill the zombies, then discover that all of the doors on the house are closed and apparently I can't open them. :wall:

Maybe this is another game that is better played co-op? If you want to try it out, let me know. I'll be around for a while tonight or tomorrow night I should be able to play too. So far, the thought that Cry of Fear is a more forgiving game has me dumbfounded, lol.

I think I'll have to do some patching and reinstall Day Z ( I bought Arma2 off Amazon, not steam, so no auto patching), but I'd be down for playing tomorrow.

Welp, something came up, not to sure how long I'll be online or when.
That's cool. I'll be around either way.

In Steam related news, I saw Amnesia: The Dark Descent is currently a flash deal for $3.99. It looks like that's the lowest price it's been. So, definitely a good deal there. Another one to grab for my "When I Have An Oculus Rift" collection, haha.

Also, in other news, I took another crack at modding my NHL 09 PC game, and have successfully updated the rosters (up to date as of 7/1/13) and the jerseys. The game looks crazy different seeing the newer gold Predators jerseys and having Seth Jones, Matt Hendricks, etc. on the team. The only crappy thing I discovered is that the regular wired 360 controller isn't supported (unless you have the actual "for Windows" version), but I've got it working with a PS3 controller.

The game is definitely very arcadey, but it's funny how much better the AI plays. They don't let you get away with bullshit and will poke the puck away easily if you skate straight at them (and this is on medium difficulty). So weird that EA made the game "more realistic" over the years, but somehow lost that trait.

Yeah, I'm going through all the big ones now. Where I ran into problems before was looking for one program that would install each mod automatically for me. These were called ArrowX and NHLModX...but they were really confusing and just created more problems than they solved. Doing them manually is more work, but easier in the long run. I've added the icepack 12, arenavamp 11, NHL 12 interface, and the NHL 13 front end. I'm about to do the faces next. The game is pretty much unrecognizable at this point, lol. :)

And I was madefunof for upgrading and playing NHL 09. :p
Haha, no. You get made fun of for playing NHL 13. ;) I just wanted you to tell me how the mods worked. Considering there were like 8-9 different mods that needed to be installed, I was hoping doing them manually, one at a time wasn't the only solution. But after figuring out the DayZ install, I figured I could do anything, lol. I've spent the better part of this evening trying to figure out how to not make Seth Jones be white. Apparently, changing his "skin tone" only changes the color of his hands (which explains the famous "black hands" fighters we've seen online...pretty sure that means those guys are modded). I had to change his cyberface picture to change his face. Luckily, the guys at TBN already had a cyberface for him made.
