In all seriousness I'm hoping they give out AC Brotherhood or Revelations (probably not a popular pick as most people have them already)

I think AC 3 is more likely to be the big first game cause the price in stores is still in that "on sale every other week" range, which the big first game seems to always come from. Same with Far Cry 3.

I hope it's not AC 3 I bought it for $15 or whatever is was on XBOX360 recently and I'm not even sure why. I'm about halfway through the first on PC. Not that into it. Ahhhh cheap sales, dumb spontaneous buys, and the ever growing backlog.

Cup of Noodles!

In all seriousness I'm hoping they give out AC Brotherhood or Revelations (probably not a popular pick as most people have them already), an arcade racer (preferably one of Criterion's), Catherine , or just something I don't have yet. At this point I have so many games to play that one month of not getting my favorites isn't the end of the world. Eventually they will come, and until then...backlog :whee:
An arcade racer and Catherine are fine by me, but please no super popular annual release games like Assassin's Creed. You can easily get those games for $10-20 within the year of release.

I'm in the same boat, except I bought the Ezio Trilogy for $20 cause its normally $40. Borrowed first one from a friend and I'm also halfway through, with little motivation to go back except so I can move onto 2, where I hear it gets way better. All the same-ish missions in 1 just don't excite me.

That's probably the exact reason why they would go that route. Big name recognition, severely decreasing value.

Yeah I want to be able to move on to 2 as well as I've heard good things. I have 2 and 3 on XBOX but I'm not sure I want to play Brotherhood and Revelations as well. I'll probably just stick to the numbered games. I guess I could always watch the story elements online but so far in 1 the story has me bored so not sure I care.

AC Brotherhood is the best AC though.

That's a good idea to just watch story online. I guess I care enough to know what's going on in later installments, as my buddy told me I have to play in order. I actually hear that the non-numbered ones are the best in the series.

the Vita memory card I ordered last week got lost in the mail, thank god for Amazon's great customer service, called them up today and they sent me a replacement.

Rainbow Moon Vita should be out by the end of the year as well. Retroactive cross buy (like with Limbo) would be awesome on that one.
wow I didn't even know you could get Limbo for free on Vita, got to start to paying more attention to stuff like this. I can't remember exactly when I bought Limbo but I do remember that I got it for 50% off thanks to ps+. Did those of you who got it for free from the IGC also get the vita version?

I also need to pay more attention to this as I also purchased 50% off for PS+. Just downloaded the Vita version.

Thanks for the heads up Tyler for shinning some light on Limbo retroactive.

When I ordered my 16 gig Vita card from Amazon, the package came and had obviously been slit up the sides and taken. Amazon was quick to replace it though

I didn't know Vita memory cards were such a hot black market item these days lol. Bet there's a guy pawning them off on ebay like crazy.

EDIT: Guess it could be a girl thief too. No need for me to discriminate against all you female criminals out there. ;)

I think it was Brotherhood was good but Revelations added some stuff people didn't like? It's just honestly hard to keep track of these games. I'm thinking I'll finish 1 at some point and if I like 2 enough I'll keep going. I'm sure I'll be able to get brotherhood and revelations cheap if need be. Oddly enough I played through the PSP game and enjoyed it. It was very short and not much story but what it had felt like just enough. I also have AC III: Liberation waiting on Vita. I'm a sucker for this series I haven't played much of. Lol.

Brotherhood was the best of the Ezio trilogy (IMO) and Revelations was poor in damn near every way. Plots were tossed aside or wrapped up as terrible as possibly imagined, terrible first person sequences to unlock Desmonds past, and the god-awful tower defense so nobody would take over your areas again. Ugh.

How did people get Limbo for free?!?! I have been PS+ since day one on two accounts in my house and I have never seen it up there for free... If i missed it I'm going to be pi$$ed!!

For the record, I'm in the US. It looks like it was free in December for EU PS+?

I don't recall it ever being free, and I've had plus for a while. Maybe it was just Europe. Slap in the face???

is this the last psp game
In the U.S., it will be the last UMD release. I'm getting the UMD from Amazon because Amazon is the only retailer that is offering a pre-order bonus. But, I'm a big PSP fanatic with one of each model from the 1000 to the Go. I've got a Vita too, but the PSP is still my favorite of the two.

Prepare to piss yourself, it was free for Plus, I'm sure Detective Frisky would be able to dig up exactly when.

Rainbow Skies Coming to PS3, PS Vita in 2014

Rainbow-Skies-Heroes-440x270.jpg

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/08/02/rainbow-skies-new-worlds-new-quests/
I guess it's nice to have confirmation that the unspecified consoles and handhelds that it was announced for back in February is PS3 and Vita as expected.

Plots were tossed aside or wrapped up as terrible as possibly imagined, terrible first person sequences to unlock Desmonds past, and the god-awful tower defense so nobody would take over your areas again. Revelations sounds like something I don't want to play :) Ok so Brotherhood will be a get, no Revelations. I'll watch the awful wrap up on youtube.

Yes, it was only available for free in the EU, never in the US.

So when they made the PS3 version free in the EU, it was a huge slap in the face, then later they make the Vita version crossbuy and therefore also free for EU members, it was liked a face slap came back and back handed us as well!

So after reading a couple wiki's i'm still not sure...

but is the PSP release of Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky a complete trilogy of earlier games in one game?  And is there a 4th game or not?  What the heck?

PS - been playing it off and on for a bit now.  Still early on, but it has a pretty awesome battle system.   It's grid based like a SRPG, but totally plays like a turn based jrpg.   Attack / Spells(Arts) /and Crafts (special skills) combine well, and a priority based turn system that you can 'break into' by spending accrued craft points really makes for a solid system.

I can see why this game is well loved and considered one of the best psp jrpgs... but... i just have no clue if it's a trilogy in one, or...

Revelations sounds like something I don't want to play :) Ok so Brotherhood will be a get, no Revelations. I'll watch the awful wrap up on youtube.
I didnt think Revelations was that bad, though the tower defense and story were pretty awful. I really liked AC2 the best of the Ezio trilogy. Maybe because everything was still a mystery and it was the first great AC game. AC3 sucked donkey balls. I was all geared up for it being set in early America and then blaaaaa. Man was I disapointed.

Rayman Legends comes out next month, so I think it's possible we may see Origins for PS3 or Vita as a free game in this months PS+ offerings to build up some hype.
That seems likely especially given the game is fairly cheap to pick up to begin with.

What is worse: a second slap in the face or a backhand slap from the same hand that slapped you in the face?

While I'd love to see it added to IGC I don't think it will happen because Legends is going to feature a large chunk of content taken straight from Origins so offering it free would potentially undercut sales for when Legends is released.

I laughed wayyyyy too hard at that.

Rainbow Skies looks cool. I remember being interested in Rainbow Moon and wouldn't mind getting that for PS+ or seeing it on sale.

Finally gave Chronovolt (@tylerh's GOTY
emot-LOL.gif
) a shot. Played up until the second world. Just as terrible and rudimentary as everyone characterized it to be. Felt like something someone might make the first day of their first class of their first semester of their first year of programming. I actually found myself genuinely pissed at the 9th stage of the 1st world. I know it was free, but I still felt ripped off.

I believe there's only one person here qualified to answer that.

i think dokuro improves as it goes on.   i reviewed it recently, actually.  didn't love it like some did, and i wish i'd have gotten it via ps+ vs. sale price... but it was 'good enough', i guess.  i liked it far more once all the various gameplay elements were put into effect.

mutant blob was better tho.

Haha well if not GOTY, at least PSN GOTY, that's for sure!

First Monday of the month.
Since I was corrected on this, I figured I'd pass it on to you. It's technically not the first Monday of the month, but rather the Monday before the first Tuesday of the month.

For some reason...I cant...stop...watching this.

That's because Joffrey deserves an infinite amount of slaps to the face. He should join PS+. It would suit him well.

Chronovolt was bad fun, especially when I realized you could roll right around locked doors. I think I just miss Marble Madness.

Oh wow, The Red Star? Awesome game. And it actually has my voice in it. (No words... just sinister laugh and grunts.) I can't remember the name of the enemy type I voiced, but he has a saw on one arm and he's pretty tough.
Nice, that's really cool. How did you get to do that?

And yes, an awesome game. I actually dug up my PS2 copy and played all the way through within the last couple months, game still holds up really well. The whole beat-em up x bullet hell gameplay is still pretty novel, no one has really made anything similar.

Dangs I've been keeping myself from pulling the trigger on Ni No Kuni, especially with the backlog, but the temptation is just oo much :S

I've been playing through the original Ratchet and Clank.  It's a pretty awesome game, but boy does it have some checkpoint frustrations!  I've cursed at my TV many times already!

i just plat'd it. i didn't have any checkpoint frustration, but i did have to leave my darn ps3 on overnight to take advantage of the infinite bolt glitch to get my last trophy. what a ridiculous amount of bolts they require. (for reference, even with a constant bolt stream it took like 16 hours... based on other reports, even playing 'for real' you can only make about 100k an hour, and you need 1 million).

definitely burnt myself out on it though, i'll take a break before r&c going commando.

that said, it's a fantastic game and totally holds up.

lol definitely with you there. I didn't remember how frustrating it could be having only four health bubbles (or maybe future R&C games have just turned me soft). Still a lot of fun, but not quite how I remember it.

ya the checkpoints really suck and i still haven't beat it yet because i ran out of bolts to buy ammo for the last boss so i moved on to going commando and it has the same checkpoint problem but it tells you when you get one at least and im stuck on this one part on a bridge where there are sooooo many enemies so ive taken a break from r&c to cool down lol

What a huge, I think run-on, sentence.

I would like some sort of little PS+ side package where you could pay a fee to get past games.

psa - Hotline Miami trophy patch out. Just got my plat. (a couple counters weren't working correctly before... dogs and windows now count. Earned it fast.

ya the checkpoints really suck and i still haven't beat it yet because i ran out of bolts to buy ammo for the last boss so i moved on to going commando and it has the same checkpoint problem but it tells you when you get one at least and im stuck on this one part on a bridge where there are sooooo many enemies so ive taken a break from r&c to cool down lol
there is a teleport right next to where you spawn for the final boss that takes you to your ship. ammo isn't expensive. just go get some bolts and come back.

or, if you're going for the plat, and and want to cheese it, do the infinite bolt glitch, buy the r.y.n.o, and the final boss is cake. but the final boss isn't impossible using normal methods.

I don't think anyone else answered your question, must've gotten lost. Trails in the Sky is just the first part of the trilogy (which is itself sort of a long series), the fans have been clamoring for the second and third parts for years, but with the state of the current PSP market (i.e. no one wants PSP games anymore) it's hard for XSeed to release the other two over here, especially when the scripts for the other two games are longer than full-on textbooks (no lie). I think someone had posted screenshots for the scripts and they were THICK. XSeed had been working on the translation of the second one, but with limited resources, even with fans of the first one clamoring for it, it's hard to justify business wise relasing the 2nd and 3rd ones because XSeed is not that big of a company.

Our only hope is XSeed localizing the HD Remastered ones for PS3, because people are definitely still buying PS3 RPGs. So you can pray for that
