I'm trying to covince my friends to get one of these next gen consoles, since we are primarly PC gamers.. and they want to get Ghosts and BF4 on PC.I'm getting Ghosts and BF4 on the PS4 just because I know more people are getting it on that system.
Watchdogs will be a Xbox One title. I can't wait for that game!
what gpu you have now? i got a gtx 660 and it will play ghost on pretty much max and bf4 on ultra at abot 60 fpsAuto aim can be taken off
Safe to say no cheaters on the consoles for awhile. No FIRE mod controllers. Nome of that. I would get it on PC, but I'm trying to resist a GTX 780.
580 3GB. I have a when I upgrade I want the best problem lol.what gpu you have now? i got a gtx 660 and it will play ghost on pretty much max and bf4 on ultra at abot 60 fps
That's someone's blog post, not a journalist's article. Not all journalists still think the PS4 is so far ahead in the power department.

"Now, new info has come to light, and I am no longer convinced the PS4 is the more powerful of the two consoles. On the contrary, the playing field is much more level than previously thought, and the Xbox One may even have a slight edge over Sony's machine."
noI'm at work and haven't gotten to see the vids yet. Did they announce the player caps in games for either BF4 or Ghost for consoles? Next gen or current gen.
the game makera re the people i look at for stuff like that and most devs say x1 and ps4 are pretty much the same systemThat's someone's blog post, not a journalist's article.
Thats basically just posting something any of us say on this forum and posing it as a fact, lol.Journalist or not. Still good news and should continue to provide validity to the fact that these both will essentially be the same system.
It's dangerous to try to equate the two in such a blanket fashion. In terms of processing power I agree that the two aren't going to be that different. There might be an edge, but it isn't going to be nearly as significant as the gap we've seen in previous console cycles.Journalist or not. Still good news and should continue to provide validity to the fact that these both will essentially be the same system.
I should think the answer is obvious. Microsoft has done such a poor job of pushing their own platform, it falls to others to spin this the right way.Why do I feel like we have to constantly push the X1 in its own thread?
I disagree. The Internet is just mostly full of bitter assholes. They reacted to it.come on now. Even as a huge xbox fan you have to admit that they were really horrible and clearly getting their message out there which is why they have now had to go back on most of it.,
A "great job" would not have involved them reversing major decisions that they had already announced and tried to push. Being able to tell everyone that your system is great is good PR. Being able to tell everyone that your system is less bad than it was before is not. From June 11 to August 15 I think MS has done a great job!
They had a vision prior to the announcement, that much is certain. Then they found out that most of their base abandoned them and suddenly their vision was abandoned. You must give them credit for being responsive to their customer base but IMO the only reason they've changed the anti-consumer policies is because they weren't getting the expected number of pre-orders and wouldn't answer questions...So you feel the Microsoft was very clear about their vision? They sure had a lot of questions that werent answered till after E3.
This. Im glad they have made all the changes, but like Giant Bomb pointed out, this has NEVER happened on this kind of scale. The number of changes they are making doesnt fill me with confidence about their next system. It really feels more reactionary to try and makeup lost ground in the eyes of the consumer while tossing out this overrall vision of the future that they had.A "great job" would not have involved them reversing major decisions that they had already announced and tried to push. Being able to tell everyone that your system is great is good PR. Being able to tell everyone that your system is less bad than it was before is not.
A "great job" would have been if they stuck to their guns, and then started showcasing in very public venues how all of their policies would directly translate into an awesome experience for the end user. A "great job" could also have involved them not making a lot of those bone-headed policies in the first place. As it stands, they've done a less-terrible job after a truly disastrous job. They aren't spinning the message right now, they're trying to clean up the mess.
I'm not saying the XBox One will be bad. It could be great. And with a lot of these policy reversals it will at least probably be better, and certainly less restrictive than it could have been. But that doesn't change the fact that Microsoft has done a piss-poor job on the system's public message and general branding. They're just lucky they have time to make these reversals. If the circumstances had been different, this could have been a real disaster. As it stands, it's just a PR fiasco, and won't necessarily harm the XBox One's chances. If they can bring a solid, appealing console to market this holiday season, all will be forgiven.
I'm more interested in how many preorders have been changed or will be cancelled for ps4. I've already read alot of people that are happy with the reversals so they changed their ps4 order to X1. There's also alot of people that preordered 2-3 ps4's after e3, because of all the xbox one hate, they plan to resell them and make their ps4 'free'. But if there's gonna be enough supply during launch then all those extra preorders will get cancelled.I wonder just how bad preorder numbers are for the X1?
Anyone hoping to flip a system this holiday season may be in for a rude awakening. I'm seriously doubting that the demand is going to be as high as it has been in the past. Plenty of people got burned last year with Wii U flipping. The same could happen again, especially with two different systems coming out in the same window. (and both coming out at a high price)There's also alot of people that preordered 2-3 ps4's after e3, because of all the xbox one hate, they plan to resell them and make their ps4 'free'. But if there's gonna be enough supply during launch then all those extra preorders will get cancelled.
I've never had a problem posting anything relevant anywhere. No company on this planet would make these kinds of changes to their product line if they don't have to.Seriously?
I would be destroyed for saying this in the Ps4 thread
Yep. Just like bluray will be a nice feature for the xbox one.Used party chat my entire time on 360. That's why I never encountered the kids like you are referencing. But that's an exciting new feature for the PS4...
I heard preorder numbers for the Xbox one is way better than it was for the 360. But there is still a gap between it and the other new system that is coming out.I wonder just how bad preorder numbers are for the X1?
Given that MS came out and said IIRC - that the average "high speed" Internet connection is 1.5 megabit in the US - then an only download console would have done really poorly...consider that means that half the country has an Internet connection BELOW that speed.I stated a long time ago that Microsoft's big mistake was not committing fully to a digital system instead of the half measures they tried to pull. Most of the complaints resulted from the half assed approach and bad explanations. They would still have suffered from ignoring areas without good internet but it would have been better than what did happen.
I just don't think they could have sold it no matter how confident they were. People didn't want it. When the rumors were spreading as far back as last year, people on Internet sites such as this one and others, were declaring that they would never buy such a console while being reassured by others that those rumors are surely false.I have a bit of a quandary. I am familiar with advice that would have allowed Microsoft to pull off their original strategy. But this advice advocates the same type of behavior that has lead to some of history's greatest atrocities. Oh well...
The more confident you seem about an action, the more likely it is that other people will go along with it.
Microsoft's greatest PR failing for the XBox One is a pervasive sense of corporate guilt. At every turn everyone from Microsoft behaved in such a way that indicated they were trying to pull a fast one. They almost seemed ashamed of their own product. The recent reversals have only reinforced that feeling. That has been their PR for the past few months.
If Microsoft had really wanted to swing this, they would have marched out on stage and boldly declared that their new system was digital-only, and they were proud of it. They would then have gone on to explain all the restrictions that no one seems keen on, and acted as if it was the greatest thing ever. After the show, when someone asked them about used games, they should have raised a big middle finger and said firmly, "used games!"
When it comes to PR, it's better to seem like you know what you're doing. Enough confidence and assurance can make up for serious product flaws. They were trying to change things up, and they needed a lot more confidence in order to swing that. They were selling a video game console, not eating babies. There are plenty of ways that you can properly spin a video game system.
If rumors are to be believed, they haven't been able to produce as many units as Sony anyway and frankly, I think it's a foregone conclusion that the rumors are true now given that they've rolled back the number of territories they're launching the X1 in. But if they're selling out and see lots of demand on waiting lists then there's no reason to make these changes. I just wonder how many people are pre-ordering it.I heard preorder numbers for the Xbox one is way better than it was for the 360. But there is still a gap between it and the other new system that is coming out.
I thought that's exactly what this thread was for : http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/313133-the-xbox-one-future-owners-discussion-thread-no-drm-debates-etc/. Notice it's got less than 60 posts and has been dead for over a month.I agree with Timbo. I don't understand why we can't have a place to be excited about the X1 and the games that are coming up. Once again our thread is getting ruined.
Then why would they drop the required Kinecect connection?pre order numbers show nothing it does not mean that all those pre orders will turn into legit purchases on launch day. We will not know success of xbox one till at least early 2015.
