Yes, but that is different. They supposedly have the games schedule set up in advance so I don't see why it would have been hard for them to not coincide the same game less than a month apart... You want to know the reality is that they know Origins was a hot game and they could get a good cash flow from it; if they would have done the inverse and giving it free before a sale which is what it should have had happened then prob. less than half the people that bought it 3 weeks ago wouldn't have done so. They knew it was shady and they did it anyways, it's disrespectful for the subscribers, I expect things to get worse once the PS4 releases.
I don't feel cheated because at the end of the day Sony is not forcing my hand to buy games that are on sale. I have been an XBL member since its inception so I am always partial to good sales vs free games. When I first picked up my PS+ membership it was simply to take advantage of the great Vita sales. I can't say that I've been disappointed so far. I plan to keep my membership until I decide to give up on this hobby.

Having said that, I sympathize with you feeling cheated/disrespected but at the same time owning a game a month earlier is a nice perk. This brings up the whole "owning" vs "renting" debate but I don't feel like getting into that.

I think I have some tissues around here for you.

for someone that has a nickname of 'gettinmoney662' I can see that you don't care about how you spend your money and why you need to keep looking for money, keep the tissues for when you get your bills.

Ooo, good one!
For that sick burn:

Not a very good month, imo.  I already own Ico, and I don't have a PSP or Vita.  I really don't care about Resident Evil Chronicles but I'll probably download it just because it's free.  Oh well, can't win em all.  Hopefully next month will be better.

Speaking of trophies:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/game/ragnarok-odyssey-ace/trophies/

Almost identical to the original version. So if any of you are crazy enough to put yourselves through the terribleness again, you can follow the same steps towards a new platinum. I know I won't be doing it until the game is either very cheap, or free.
Bumslie showed me this, and it's way worse than the original's trophies. A much longer grind, fuck that noise. Actually, considering how much I've played, I probably would still get all those trophies, I just don't want to go card collecting again.

For the low price of $6.25 you can play Rayman Origins on your Vita both a month before other people and for months to come after you let your subscription to PS+ expire because you think there is this grand plan to harm PS+ subscribers.

Skip a trip or two to Starbucks and your bank account won't notice the difference.

Same old complaints. Like complaining that the game you bought for $50 went on sale for $40 a month later.

I'll see if the Resident Evil game is enough to make me want a PS Move, but I'm mostly just glad we didn't get Assassin's Creed 3 because I hate that game. (Although, since AC4 is a end of October release I wouldn't be surprised to see it next month.)

Just buy things when the price matches your desire for the item. Then you will always be happy.

On the other hand if you try to amass things at the lowest possible price they will ever be, you will never be happy, especially not with gaming, where steady price drops over time are the norm.

been playin some Rayman Legends, really addicting and the music levels are the best part of the game.
Going to try the demo, it sounds amazing and if the co-op (which is supposed to be amazing) supported online play it would probably be a day one buy for me.

who's getting gta v??
Everyone and their 8 year old?

I JUST bought Rayman Origins during the sale. Jesus Christ.
I just opened my physical copy like a week ago.

Can you even play Resident Evil without the move controller?
Yeah, you really don't want to. I tried playing the House of the Dead Overkill with the PS3 controller and I wanted to find a lightgun to shoot myself in the head with.

What's going on with Batman games?
my guess is he probably thinks one of the batman games will be free on PS+ soon, since Arkham Origins is coming out sometime. just a guess.

also, i already own everything for the ps3 next month for ps+. cant win em all i guess. if you have a move though those RE games are pretty nice. im a sucker for a good lightgun game.

The chronicles are coming for free? Let the kicking myself commence. Bought it months ago because of the plus discount. Only beat umbrella chronicles with my wife, didn't even touch darkside chronicles. Epic CAG fail.

Definitely the best advice. My backlog is tiny compared to others but even I have realized that unless I plan to play the game immediately it's not worth buying it just for to sit on the shelf (physical or digital). If it means that by the time I get around to it I have to spend an extra $5 compared to the lowest possible price, well, that difference is negligible to me since I'm trying to restrict my buying to only the games I will play (and hopefully enjoy if I'm going to invest the time in them.)

Of course, now that I've said that I'm probably doomed to go buy something stupid.

Or don't buy things unless you're going to play them.

That's advice I should take too.

And I finally platted Ragnarok Odyssey. Now to go back to the Wipeout 2048 online grind.

Vita version has online multiplayer (AND that multiplayer allows you to use Murfy, like the Wii U version). I'm getting the Vita version.

Now I just have to decide between PSN and retail... If I knew for sure that there'd be a 10% discount for digital that'd clinch it, but of course we won't know that until the store updates which is too late to get a day-one copy from Amazon...

Holy shit, we shouldnt buy games if we dont plan on playing them? Try telling that to the people who have plus that want to buy the free games because they want to own the games so they can play them 10 years from now. Even though they keep buying more games than they can ever play...

The vita version does not have online multiplayer. No version includes that, unfortunately. Co-op on vita is only possible through ad hoc or local wifi, provided you know someone else with a vita and another copy of the game. Sucks because it's caused me to remain on the fence about which version to buy (I'll ultimately end up double dipping as with Origins), but I'm leaning toward ps3 because of it.

Does Meruru Plus take place before or after Totori?

Just wondering if I should play it before or after.
The order for the PS3 Atelier series is Rorona, Totori then Meruru. I recommend playing Totori before Meruru because there is a spoiler in Atelier Meruru regarding Atelier Totori's ending.

Ad-hoc is local wifi.

From the Amazon page: "Local or Online Co-op: Play any Rayman Legends level in ad hoc co-op or over Wi-Fi."

Either Amazon's description is incorrect or it has online co-op over wifi, but either way saying that something has "ad hoc or local wifi" makes no sense because they are the same exact thing.

Having watched Achievement Hunter's Let's Play of Rayman Legends on Xbox 360, the way they adapted the touch controls to the controller looks pretty bad. You have to way for Murfy to move to the specific hot spots for those interactions and hit a button to make him cut, pull, or do whatever and he doesn't always move between them as quickly as he needs so that you know where the next point is, so it lead to them having multiple awkward deaths because they didn't know where the next interaction was at. That is the major reason that I'd stick with either Wii U or Vita for Legends and skip the others since they didn't figure out a better way to handle those touch mechanics with just a controller. My preference of Origins on Vita was more just feel and platform than the tangible differences that Legends seems to have.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wybyt3Ypu2U

Actually that's not true. Ad-hoc means you are creating a network between 2 (or more) Vitas, without the need for a WiFi access point. Local Wifi means you can play with people on the local WiFi network. I think Amazon's description is probably wrong, but can't really be sure. (was responding to Spork....)

We'll be getting a WiiU, perhaps the Zelda bundle, so I'll be getting this game for that. That seems like the native platform for this game, though I'm sure the Vita version will be good too.

There's another name for that: LAN play, which is something that is nearly never singled out on console or handheld games, and when it is it's referred to as "LAN play," not "wifi play." (See: Spelunky)

Now, the Amazon listing may be incorrect, but as it stands there's only one way to interpret it.

Ad-hoc means creating a network between two (or more) devices wirelessly, without having to have an existing WiFi network to connect to. You can be in a jungle even. Maybe that's what your saying. Not really sure. LOL.

Me and my buddies play our vitas together in the jungle all the time man. ;)

Huh? I was under the impression that ad hoc was a connection between two devices and wifi was a shared connection on the same network. I really don't know, so you could be right about that. And, yes, the Amazon description is incorrect - there is no online multiplayer, just leaderboards and such.

So did the Blogcast have any info about releases/sales next week? I would just listen myself but I'm at work and don't like to make it too obvious that I'm not working.

Edit: Never mind. I thought the Blogcast was posted on the PSBlog, but it was actually an advertisement for it occuring sometime over the weekend.

Well, the point is pretty much moot, we'll find out for sure on Tuesday and arguing about it is pretty pointless. In case anyone is curious though, the reason this is so damn confusing is because the terminology is inconsistently used, and used incorrectly as buzzwords a lot of the time. If you care you can read my rough definitions below. I'm sorry if I came across as being pedantic earlier, I skipped my coffee this morning and that was a mistake.

Ad-hoc is a term for a type of connection. It means two or more devices are connected directly with no server or router or access point between them. You can do this via an ethernet cable, bluetooth, or wifi. Most devices use wifi for ad-hoc connections, which is why I said (in a pretty reductive way, for which I apologize) that "ad-hoc is local wifi. More properly local wifi is the most common way by which an ad-hoc connection can be established.

LAN means Local Area Network, this is the network that you have in your house. Your PC is on the same LAN as your Vita and PS3. That LAN is connected to the Internet, which is the most commonly known WAN (Wide Area Network). Technically you also have a WLAN (Wireless LAN) which is what multiple Vitas on the same router share. This is what Spelunky uses for its multiplayer; but LAN/WLAN restricted multiplayer is extremely uncommon, having gone out of style back in the early 2000's.

Wifi (properly called Wi-Fi with caps an hyphen) is a type of connecting technology, like Bluetooth or Infrared.

Wifi is often used colloquially to refer to online connectivity through an access point (a wireless router), connecting you to the Internet and other users also connecting to the internet. This is why you see a distinction between ad-hoc play and wifi play; because in most peoples' minds wifi play means Internet, and marketers just use wifi and online interchangeably.

Anyway, I'm hoping that Rayman Legends does, in fact, have wifi multiplayer over the Internet, and not just ad-hoc or LAN play.

Mmmmk. Well, you obviously understand the nuances of this way more than me, so I'm bowing out on that end, lol. I just simply didn't want people to opt for the vita version under false pretenses. "Wi-fi multiplayer over the internet" has already been confirmed as unavailable. I agree with @frisky about the murfy segments, though.

Can you play multiplayer, Vita + PS3? That would be an expensive way to achieve that, though.

I've seen no mention of cross-play, so I'm assuming it's not a feature. That'd be sick, though. One of the reasons I'll eventually pick up SpelunkY (not to be confused with SpelunkER).

Since shenron is on my side for obviously granting my wish for rayman origins. I'm ginna ask him for batman AA next month. Make it happen shenron.

I decided to do some poking around and I think I understand why there's so much confusion. The press release for the Vita version states: "A multiplayer mode is locally accessible on Wi-Fi and fans from the same country can play in cooperation." The phrasing is pretty... weird, and I think it is, in fact, just referring to (region-locked?) local multiplayer. But then sites like Joystiq reported on the press release saying things like "While the Vita version of Rayman Origins lacked a multiplayer component, Ubisoft announced that Rayman Legends will feature local co-op on Vita, allowing players from the same country to team up over a Wi-Fi connection,"  which clouded the issue. There doesn't seem to have been an official yes or no outside of that press release from May.

The Blogcast this week is actually a PAX panel that they're not streaming, so it'll get a late release as a podcast like the Gamescom podcast got.

The Official Rayman Legends site doesn't even say it's coming to any console other than the Wii U, unless you count a few console logos (except for Vita!) at the bottom of the page. It's features list just referencing the Wii U GamePad, Wii, and features related to that, so to say that Ubisoft isn't exactly putting out clear, concise information on that game is an understatement.

Yeah but don't publishers set sale prices? Not Sony? Ubisoft didn't make a ton of money on Origins when it launched, the price dropped pretty quickly. Now that the sequel is coming out and there is a ton of hype for it, you can't blame them for wanting to capitalize on people's interest in the original. Not to mention, the sale was network-wide, not just PS+. Aaand... Europe already got Origins, so it was reasonable to expect that we would eventually also, so in that circumstance it is always a gamble.

Lastly, Origins Is definitely worth $6, hell it was worth $30, and buying cheap digital supports the publisher/developer versus buying cheap used.
