gamestop ps3/360 used systems $150 with free $20 game

I know. I keep thinking "oh all my trade in credit will make it free!" but I could just use that towards Watch Dogs and other games. I wish Sony would just tell us how the PS3 streaming will work, like money-wise. There are some PS3 games I really want to play and haven't been able to.

If PS3 streaming on PS4 is like an additional $8 fee per month, I'd consider it. If its $50 digital streamed copies of games than no thank you. I really, really hope they let us put our PS3 games into PS4 systems and then it calls for the game's data from the cloud since we already showed proof of purchase by inserting the disc.
Watch dogs, cod Ghost, battlefield 4, and ass creed black flag when bought digitally on the ps3 will only be $10 for digital copies on the ps4. As for physical versions, they have codes that, when inputted, will make the digital version $10 but requires the ps3 in the ps4. As for the streaming aspect I'm hoping that it'll be an added bonus for plus members, but I have a feeling it'll be very limited much like the ps2 library is on the ps3. It'd be stupid to put it behind a paywall but who knows.

My local GS had a 320G Move Bundle in the back that they'd forgotten about, still sealed.
Not that I wanted the Move, but still nice that it was included, with a game. Probably wouldn't have gotten anything if they didn't have a new system. So, after trading a couple of unwanted older 360 games, walked out with a New console, Move & two games for $130.
How did you get it for $130? Are you deducting the trade in value of your games, or did you get them to override and accept the SotW coupon?

I really want to buy one of those $149 PS3 systems. I've got about $110 worth of stuff I could trade in without the 30% bonus so I could make it out without paying much but,...I'm getting a PS4 next month so it seems kinda dumb to buy a PS3 one month before. Plus, I could just put that $110 towards new releases or PS4 games. Decisions, decisions. It doesn't help that I'm already going to be playing Pokemon a lot for the next few weeks so why even get a new system that will inevitably go on the backburner with all the 3DS/Wii U/PS4 games I will be playing? Ugh.
To play devils advocate here... I would consider not getting a PS4 now at all. Get a PS3 and Playstation Plus. Then you can start playing the older PS3 games that are super cheap and at the same time be building a PS4 (and not to mention Vita) library at the same time. Not to mention all the free PS3 games you will have from day 1 on plus. I just convinced another friend of mine to do the same.

It was easy for him though since he was more interested in GTA 5 than any of the launch PS titles. Plus he could get GTA 4 complete as the free game and play it now along with Saints Row 3 from Plus.

I just do not trust the whole Gaikai will let me play the PS3 games thing since there is nothing but guesses out there if it will be able to do it.

I didn't realize how bad the ps3 super slim design is. Found a black 500, but couldn't go for it. Didn't find a converted 320gb either.

I'm curious, I've had PS+ before, but let's say that a game went free several months ago and you didn't have PS+ then, do you have access to that title when you resubscribe? Sorry for the misplaced question, that comment just really got my attention.

Instead of a ps3 I bought a HD 3d projector open box at bb for 200. I just can't dignify spending 150 (and needing to buy more games and controllers) while my backlog is the way it is. But now that I have a 3d projector I want a ps3 for the 3d capability.
Which projector?

I ended up with a 500 gig super slim preowned but idk. It looks like a cheap imitation and it was quite loud on initial disc.
I feel kind of the same way. I bought one yesterday to take with me on a trip (already have a regular slim) and overall I'm not impressed. It's not as small as I thought it was going to be and the whole thing is kind of jank. Thinking of just returning it and sticking with the Vita for my trip.

I called a few stores that have 320 Slims in stock, but employees all said they couldn't tell whether a given unit was a new -> used conversion or actually preowned. Is that true? I may waste some gas and actually head over to see if there are Move Bundle boxes and they were being lazy.

If the game went free while you were not a subscriber, then no you can not get it. You have to "purchase" it while you are signed up for Plus. Then it is yours to play whenever you are a Plus member. So when you previously had Plus, any games you got back then would be back active when you signed back up. You could not play all the games you missed though.

I see, that makes sense. Still a pretty good deal, but I think I can probably live without it for now then. Thanks, for the answer.

What is the most reliable way to tell if it is a recently converted PS3  320?  Check for the ones with complete with box  or do they throw the original boxes away?

Thought about picking up a 2nd for the bedroom. Naturally playing online free is a big plus, I have two boys who would like to play COD. Can the each have their own profile and play split screen online similar to how you can on xbox?

I'd do that but I don't think they'll let you download the free PS+ PS4 titles if you don't have a ps4 itself

That is not correct. I added all the Vita items when I didnt have a Vita. Now I have a huge library of stuff to play which is really awesome to have that many games from Day 1 of a console purchase.

The Playstation Store does not give a damn what systems you have. If you have plus then you "purchase" all the free items. Then it will be in your download list for later when you decide to play that title on whatever system it works for. You do not have to download it when you "purchase" it.

You can add them to your account via the PSN store website for use on a PS4 in the future.

Question for those that've purchased any of these preowned PS3s or 360s:

Were you able to get 10% off the system with the PUR Pro membership? I ask because my store's registers have been discounting preowned system purchases for customers that're Pro.

Mine did not. Although he discounted it 25% manually because the SOTW coupon wouldn't work. :D

PUR Pro 10% bonus is not supposed to work for systems from what I understand. Just games and I think accessories.

Yes, thats what I meant. After trading those couple of games, my total was 130.
It was $150 before taking off for the trades.

I only managed to snag a 250gb pre-owned ps3, but I got a good haul of ps3 exclusives (GoW 1-3, Uncharted 1/2, resistance 1/2, heavy rain, killzone 2/3) all for just over $200

That game haul is about the same as I'd like to find.

Anyone have an answer? Does this mean that they dont sell new ones? that theyve all been converted to used?

I guess I may have gotten lucky, my other friends reported that they I got a brand new dual shock with the PS3 at least. I think that's what premium refurbished means by gamestop?

They are all boxed up like other PS3's, so there is no sure way to be satisfied before taking a look at the contents inside! Honestly your best bet is to just go in the store and take a look at the condition before you buy it!

I assume most here would pass on a Modern Warfare 2 console for $99?
As a primary console to play daily I'd pass. But if your into collecting or a modern warfare fan I'd pick it up.

Probably trade a couple things to get it to 60-80$ then use some credit on it

I'm certain this has been covered but is pre-owned better or worse than refurbished? I want a 60 gb PS3 to enjoy the 200+ PS2 games I own in HD because my slim PS2 can't seem to get the aspect ratio right on my LCD.

I got it, mainly since I have until January to hang onto it, so even if something good comes along with holiday sales I have nothing to lose on it. Looks like it brings a bit more on Amazon for now too. It had an old white controller, but the employee was a nice guy and swapped in a newer black controller instead. No hard drive, but I'm only playing a few games on it to hold me over--NHL, maybe WWE, some R6 Vegas...a few games I've played on it that I miss having, so my 16 GB usb stick will work for now.

Refurbished basically means "certified repaired". From time to time a system will be traded in and they'll fix it if it's broken then sell with with the GameStop guarantee to work. It's just as good as a used system, maybe even better.

So what is the best system to look for in your guy's opinions?  I need a big HD, so I was leaning towards the 500 GB, but I dont understand what "New K" means on the website.

New K just means Super Slim. I think they use it because there's a K in the model number. Sony doesn't officially refer to the new model as a Super Slim. Not sure why GameStop can't, but they don't ...

I am fairly sure it mean's "New Kind" as in the new "slim". In other news the local store I tend to go to is holding a White 500gb, has the white DS3, and everything looks pretty good, the controller is a TINY bit dirty, but nothing a paper tower wouldn't clean up. I just... Someone talk me out of it, I mean yeah you can say "The exclusives are great!" But if you saw the pile of boxes filled with games I have amassed since I joined cag... You would say "Mayyybbbeee you should hold off on the ps3". Considering the fact that except exclusives, I probably have every game for the 360 already, not to mention the fact I REALLY have impulse control and every time there is a sale on games I would start snatching them up! "I can't WAIT to take this home, put it in a box with 15 other games, and play whatever was already in the system!"...
So yeah while it may only cost $150 for the system and a $20 game... it would end up costing me a couple hundred more by the end of the year x.x.

I got a 320gb ps3, may or may not be converted from new. It was a refurb, but there was protective clear plastic covering the button panel. Controller isn't greasy, pretty much looks new. Manufacturing date of June 2011.

Damn all this hype, ended up snagging a white ps3 500 gb with nino kuni (free) and GTA 5. Just when i was ready to move on to next gen and got rid of all current gen stuff.

The K actually means something important. K Models will not display blu ray movies on a TV if it uses component cables. They require HDMI for BR playback, just the K series and all new PS3 models. The K model was introduced with the original slim before the super slim

I'm looking to replace my launch PS3 that died just a few months ago and I was planning on waiting until Black Friday for a good deal on a new system, but chalk my impatience up to me looking through this thread. Since all of the used PS3 systems are the same price, what would everyone say is the best "deal" if I can find it? Personally I think the 500GB red PS3 would be a good find but I have no idea how to go about searching for it used. Is there a search for it somewhere?

So would you guys recommend a super slim or an original slim?
You can go either way, knowing that these are Gamestop used systems I'd personally go with the super slim as they are much newer but I know a lot of people would side with an original slim as they're of better build quality. I would purchase a warranty regardless of which way you go.

Picked up the 60 gb refurb at the store closest to me. It came with a red Dual Shock 3 which was fine since I already own a 120 gb slim and will probably use that system's controller as my default. I got Record of Agarest War Zero as my free PS3 game since I like RPG games, but I'm most excited about playing through my PS2 back catalog.

A bunch of my PS2 cases got ruined earlier this week when the ceiling in my bedroom collapsed, but I found a box with a bunch of factory sealed RPG games in it that I always said I would beat once I got a good TV. Planning to start with Shadow Hearts: New World even though that was one whose case got damaged.

Is the fat PS3 supposed to hum? It seems like a slightly high-pitched hum comes through on the cross-bar screen on the TV. And yes, I'm using HDMI. I guess I need to put a game in, but I paid cash, so I hope I don't have to return it, but it should be an easy return.

If I could find a white/red PS3, I would be all for it. OR a 320 that converted. I guess I will call around. As it stand though, the 25% SOTW coupon needs a manual override right?

I called around Gamestop asking for a red/white ps3. i believe all red/white are 500GB.

Yeah the 25% SOTW won't work unless you have a manager nice enough to override for you.

Even if they don't override it, I found a quick call to customer service rectified it pretty well. Got my 7500 pts back along with another 18,000 for the issue.
